Celebrity Feuds
McDreamy Feud: Behind the Scenes

TMZ has the inside dirt on a feud between Patrick Dempsey and Isaiah Washington that bubbled over on the "Grey's Anatomy" set this week.
Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey
According to the NY Daily News' Rush & Molloy, Washington said "some disgusting things" and got in Dempsey's face. The National Enquirer kicked it up a notch, reporting that Washington had shoved Dempsey and choked him.

Now TMZ has new details on the dust up. We're told by sources on the ABC lot where the show is taped that production was abruptly halted yesterday. One spy says Dempsey and co-star Ellen Pompeo went to the commissary and were seen "whispering" for a while, and then Dempsey went outside and sat by himself.

One of Washington's friends tells a TMZ spy that the relationship between Isaiah and Patrick is "tense." The friend went on to say that Washington thinks Dempsey's "nice guy image is a bit of an act."

It appears execs on "Grey's" don't have a quick fix in mind. Show creator Shondra Rhimes was seen wandering around the lot during the time production was stopped.

91. Rebecca, you hate this how but yet you are commenting on it. If you really couldn't care less, why would you waist your time. And as for you comment about black gentleman...please grow up. Don't put every black man in the same category b/c you had a bad experience with one.

92. I would like to say, why must we insult either of the men? We don't truly know either and who are we to judge based on assumptions?

Racists comments are nothing but cruel and irrelevant, especially in this situation.

To the the people on this site that claim they don't care and they hate this show, then why did you click on the article in the first place?

Just wondering...

93. Who were these people before Grey's Anatomy? Everyone should remember where they came from. Money doesn't make the man, the person inside does. Both of these men should enjoy their sucess while they have it because tomorrow is never promised. In five years they'll be on the show "Where are they now?" on some E entertainment special as to what went wrong and how they blew they money and fame.

94. One last comment on Grey 's Anatomy, enough already of mcdreamy and meredith. Get together or move on, the show's writers are dragging this way to long, 3 seasons they have dicking around. At least Burke got his girl, now that I think about it. Is mcdreamy a puss? Really, he married some really old women when he was like 18 and she was 53 or something. Isn't that like being 13 and dating your high school math teacher? What kind of twist marries a really old person when they're young? So in real life, I think Dempsey has some very real issues. But he is handsome, very handsome, but hey looks aren't everything. Right (Wrong). Washington isn't that good-looking, they could have been a bit more selective in one of there leading men. He isn't even sexy, and he doesn't have that eye contact down like Dempsey has.

95. The racial argument is nothing short of ridiculous! While I am sensitive to racial issues and some of you make excellent arguments (I didn't like the tone of the "black gentleman" post, either - men of all races can be gentlemen), this fight between two arrogant actors has nothing to do with race! They disagreed about something on the set (and it sounds like it's MUCH more of a gay issue than a racial issue - IW called another actor a "faggot," which is the real reason he could be written out of the show) and the disagreement got physical! It shouldn't be excused, but let's not assume that every conflict between a white man and an African American is based on race. Yes, they are of different races and they fought. End of story.

96. Isaiah needs to be fired for a variety of reasons. #1 his assault on a co-worker. #2 his bigotry. #3 He can't act his way out of a paper bag - and has absolutely no chemistry with Sandra Oh. Get a cute replacement - no one will miss him. Oh, I by the way - am a black woman.

97. We all need to face the fact that the show is off to a lackluster start. We would not be watching this year if it weren't for last. The story line is weak, the medical scenes have gone from bizaare to absolutely ludicrous, and the stars we related to are being killed with absurd writing. No wonder there are fights on the set; everyone has to be depressed to see their show (and their livelihoods) go from great to ridiculous. Is anyone besides me just sick of the McDreamy-Meredith high school drama? Jeez, if she can get McDreamy, George and McVet with that lisp, stringly hair and tentative little smile, I need to be single again!

98. It's hard to say who would win the fight. Just because Isaiah is bigger, that does not mean that he'd win. It's easier to say who would lose the fight: [a] Isaiah would, since he'd be history; [b] we, the fans, would, because the show would not be the same without Isaiah.

99. Did we all forget where the comments went too in this fight. This brought out a whole other subject regarding George. As I see it (and don't get me wrong, I like George), George will end up getting the axe. Since it came out that he is gay. Now Washington and Dempsey will team up together to get him booted from the show. I would hate for anything to happen to George. I really like him.

100. Dempsey is just a prima donna with a very large ego. Any actor, that disses the fans who got him where he is by watching their show,(as per Lou's comments),is a jerk in my book.No matter how hot he is or thinks he is.

101. I have watched the show since it began. Season 1 was great. As far as the supposed fight...if they have accepted apologies and the cast and crew are okay then move on. This cast to me is a complete group with no weak links. I dont think any of them are breakout stars. Personaly, I like Sandra Oh the best. *She's the most believable in her character.

102. All the characters on the show are outstanding; i would hate if anybody has to go. The show will never be the same. There is nothing an apology can't fix.

103. I can't believe the producers didn't do anything to Washington. He should be out looking for a new job!

104. Get over it. Until Grey's who where they?

105. Too bad they can't get along, show is wonderful and both should stay and work out their personnal differences. They are both NEEDED by the show. Just said when personalities clash like this. They both need to realize that neither of them are "indispensible" and just work it out.
