Lets Get This Party Started
Tom and Katie -- Wedding Conflict

Katie Holmes contemplates.Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' wedding may be just around the corner, with her dress all ready to go, but the persistent buzz is that Katie's parents are still outraged that the nuptials -- whenever and wherever they happen -- will be conducted by the Church of Scientology, rather than in the Catholic tradition. And there have even been suggestions that the family Holmes is threatening a last-minute boycott of the wedding to try to convince Katie to have a proper Catholic ceremony, even if she does one Scientology-style, too.

Katie was born a Roman Catholic and went to parochial schools growing up in Toledo, Ohio, and so it would only be fitting for her to be married with the usual Catholic rites -- not in a Scientology ceremony, in which the bride is sometimes called a "girl" marrying a "man" and in which one of the solemn "pacts" of marriage is that the couple agree not to go to bed angry. The Holmes family has not commented publicly on the situation, though the TomKat mothers were spotted recently having lunch with their children. Cruise's rep maintains that the couple will be married sometime in the fall.

Britney Shapes Up Furiously For Big Return

Britney Spears has targeted her husband Kevin's album release party at the end of this month to make her triumphant return as the svelte, sexy young starlet we once knew -- and sources close to the family tell TMZ that she's enlisted a small army of nannies, trainers, and nutritionists to put her through her paces to make sure she's looking her best.

According to our sources, Brit has hired a nanny for each of her sons, and is constantly in the gym "for hours at a time," working out feverishly to shed all the extra poundage she put on while having two babies in 13 months -- and indulging her penchant for Taco Bell gleefully and often along the way. "She really wants to make a huge splash at Kevin's release party," says our source, "and she totally wants to outshine Kevin and announce to the world that she's back."

Anna Nicole's Mom Joins The Fray

The Anna Nicole Smith saga is just getting uglier. The latest twist is that Smith's mother, Virgie Arthur, has told Page Six that she thinks her grandson Daniel -- who tragically died in the hospital room where his mom had just given birth in the Bahamas -- was murdered. Toxicology tests have shown that Daniel died of an overdose of methadone and the antidepressants Zoloft and Lexapro. "Somebody had to give it to him. He had to get it from somewhere," Arthur reportedly said. "I just know Danny didn't kill hisself. He did not overdose hisself . . . Danny wouldn't take drugs to begin with. I don't believe that for a minute. You could not convince me of that." Smith has not yet held a funeral for Daniel, whose body is still lying in a Bahamas funeral home.

Celebrity Goodwill Flu Catches Kidman

Maybe all that do-gooding by the likes of Bono and Angelina Jolie is contagious. Nicole Kidman is the latest celeb to get in on the act-she arrived in Kosovo yesterday as a United Nations goodwill ambassador. The region was devastated by war in 1998-1999 and Kidman plans on visiting the southwestern town of Djakovica, one of the most hardest-hit areas of the conflict. This is Kidman's first tour of duty since being named goodwill ambassador of the U.N. Development Fund for Women in January.

Party Favors: Leo Gets Under Diamond Giant's Skin ... NBC Losing Revenue Steam

Diamond merchant DeBeers is gearing up for a fight-over the upcoming Leonardo DiCaprio movie "Blood Diamond," out Dec. 15. In the movie, the African diamond industry is portrayed as a conflict-ridden one, but DeBeers claims that the movie distorts the truth, according to the New York Post ... NBC should start watching its wallet. The network's operating profit fell 10 percent in the third quarter, largely because of expensive shows like "Kidnapped" and "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" that haven't lived up to expectations.

91. Bottom Line regarding Kate and Tom

IT'S THEIR WEDDING, NO ONE NOT EVEN MOMMY AND DADDY SHOULD TELL HER HOW T SAY HER VOWS.

IF THEY WANT TO BOYCOTT IT, IT WILL BE THE MOST SELFISH ACT A PARENT CAN COMMITT. AND THEY WON'T GET PAST IT. THEYHAVE NO RIGHTS, SHE IS AN ADULT AND THEIR NOT PAYING FOR IT.

They had their wedding the way they wanted it and regardless if they agree or not, this is their daughters turn. suck it up, be a good mommy and daddy and support your child. even in times of mistakes because that is when they grow.

Shame on the Holmes camp. IF THIS IS TRUE.

92. I can honestly say that to totally agree with Maven on the Scientology thing. I grew up in a small town in the late 70s and early 80s and my BF was a member. We were kids but I remember some really weird sh*t about that. He mother was forced to give birth at home, and everything had to be silent...no matter what they say the whole silent brith thing is as it sounds. They made thier daughters watch, which I find disturbing. (If they want to that is one thing, but they forced them) Their mother was forced to be subserviant to their father, and give up her career. And I don't care what anyone says about ani-depressants or psycho-drugs. Especially not Tom Cruise who never finished high school. Please, this guy is a complete and total waste of space. Katie is obviously feeling inadequate and must have sort of inferiority complex to bow to this moron. What is dangerous about it is the fact that people out there that are searching for something to believe in to give their lives stability flock to him because he is a celebrity. Then once they are hooked they lose it all, money, self worth and sanity. That is why they are against anti-depressants and psychologist and the like. They do not want anyone interfering with their mind control. Someone needs to do some damage control and fast. But these other celebrities are going to it because it gains they publicity...John travolta and Kirsty Ally are two examples. These are smart people and they buy that crap?? Goes to show money doesn't buy class or brains.

93. RE Britany, Madona, Babs, etc. etc. etc. ad nauseum

"AS A RING OF GOLD IN A SWINE'S SNOUT, SO IS A LOVELY WOMAN WHO LACKS DISCRETION"
Proverbs 11:22

"WHEN EXPERIENCE IS NOT RETAINED...INFANCY IS PERPETUAL."
George Santayana

These folks and their sincophants and hangers-on need to grow up. The world needs "leaders" who are mature. Lots and lots of people look up to these "infants" and are lead astray by them and their lives.

94. Katie should be married in the Catholic Church if she and Tom really are in love because it would a true marriage. If she marries outside the Catholic Church without a dispenation then it is an invalaid marriage.
Catholics should not be ashamed of their religion or just give it up because of what is supposed to be "true love" If Tom loved her he would respect her totally, her religion too.

95. Brittany will most likley lose all the weight and look great for a while. And I am postive she will make some sort of headline, but I think it will only be a temporary high for her. Lets face it BRITTANY is sooooooooo 90's.

96. Regarding the explanation of Scientology from The Maven:
That explains why Katie was seeming so lost . People were saying she was turning into an airhead ans such but after reading what it is all about it's actually scary. They should not be able to do the things they are doing. I wonder if any of the actual members know themselves what they havr gotten into.

98. I just want to say that if Scientology makes people happy then leave them alone. And for the record its amazing how much bull is posted about it. If someone would actually take the time to meet real Scientologist and find out what it is for themselves and not all this crap that is spilled out everywhere then maybe they would have credibility. Scientology actually does a lot of good in a lot of places, and I am so sick of seeing it being bashed. Who cares what they believe, if it makes them happy then who else is to judge? And if the things mentioned above really are their beliefs (which is hard to say since it is not coming from the source) then how is that any crazier of a belief then Mary had a baby without having sex? Or the world was built in 7 days. Come off it people and open your eyes.

99. I don't think the parents should boycott the wedding .It is after all Katies and Toms wedding to have the way they want .And I'm sure Katie and /or Tom is paying for it. If they want to make the happiest day of their daughters life miserable then what does that say about them. It is not their day. Grin and bear it . Be gracious. What do they want their daughter to remember? A nice wedding with friends and realitives to celebrate with or the fact that their realitives couldn't put their feelings aside and be there for her / them. It is Katies choice go with it.

100. To the Maven:

Although your comments on Scientology are intriguing, in terms of whether Scientology is a cult or a religion, they may not be accurate.

One person's cult is another's religion. A religion is a religion regardless of when or how it was formed. The important thing is: Is Scientology recognized as a religion under the laws of the United States and the State of California? (I assume that is where the wedding will be held.) If Scientology is indeed recognized as a religion then a civil ceremony may not be necessary.

Katie Holmes may have a problem with the fact that The Catholic Church doesn't recognize Scientology. This may in fact be a good thing when, a few years hence, Tom and Katie get a divorce. Since the Catholic Church doesn't recognize Scientology, in the Church's mind, Tom and Katie's marriage never existed. So Katie would not risk excommunication when the divorce does come (and I believe it will), and she goes back to Catholicism (which may or may not happen.)

Btw, In case you were wondering, I am NOT a Scientologist.

101. So, everyone said the same thing about Madonna, every time she had a kid. It's typical Hollywood, for celebrities to gain weight, come back, and be even bigger than they were before the baby. I've got nothin' but faith for Britney.. I'm prayin' that she ditches this K. Fed a**hole. I think that with everyone making such a big deal over her weight gain/loss she's gonna feel the pressure to get it done, and push herself to get back to the way she was. I can't wait!!! =) good luck brit.

102. Somewhere I heard that Anna Nicole was on Methadone herself...
Is it possible that she "shared" her prescription with her son, Daniel, because he was not feeling well....said he felt bad.
If so, she may have unknowingly given him something that did not mix with his other medications.
Her mom may be country....but she may be right on with what she said.

103. I am a practicing, life-long Catholic, but I tend to agree that Katie should marry this loony in a Scientology ceremony., only because it will be so much easier for her when they break up. Note I said "when", not "if", because everybody reading these posts knows that their "marriage" won't last. I can't believe Katie would throw away her faith, her family, indeed, her LIFE on this creep. Her parents should stay away from the wedding, but as others have said, they shouldn't alienate themselves from Katie, because she is going to need them in a BIG way in the not-too-distant future. Tom Cruise Mapother is just a immoral, conscience-less piece of crap.

104. Is Katie over 21? I guess so. The man she's marrying will be her husband so, if they are as Catholic as they say, they have to go with what her groom wishes. The parents do not have to be at the wedding - I wouldn't. A wedding ceremony is just one day. This is Katie's problem. Parents can do the best they can, but at some point they have to let the child go. Let her go, let her live in the situation she created. The best thing to do as a parent now is to pray for her and to be there for her when she needs it. And in the future, she WILL need it.

105. Well...as a Mother of one biological and 6 adopted or private foster children, it is nice to see that Britney puts her children first by making sure they each have a nanny. Thin thighs are soooo much more important than the babie's formative years.
By the way....I am not an angry fat housewife, jealous that I cannot make it to the gym. I am a retired firefighter and weigh 113 pounds.
