Why Aren't You Watching "Studio 60"?

Dear TMZ readers,

We don't like to preach to you about what you should and shouldn't watch. Love "Dancing With the Stars"? Great. Hate "Grey's Anatomy"? We can forgive that. But you're not watching "Studio 60" and this has to stop. Starting tonight.

You don't need us to tell you how great it is -- every other TV critic has already done that. So, we're not sure what we can say to make you watch it. Um, you liked "The West Wing," right? Same writer. And we know you loved "Friends" -- this has Chandler!

In tonight's episode (10PM ET/PT on NBC), Harriet talks about God with a Vanity Fair reporter while Sting warms up in the background. Yes, that's right -- they've got Sting, too!

So, in closing, please watch "Studio 60." A world where "CSI: Miami" does double the viewership than "Studio 60" is not a world worth living in.

Thanks,

TMZ.com

16. I have really tried hard to like this show, but it's just not funny enough to overlook the fact that it's soooo preachy. I'm also having hard time agreeing that the lead girl in the show within the show is as funny and attractive as they keep saying she is. I can't think of one time I laughed at something she said. I will try again tonight, but, I don't think I will like this show.

17. Why would I want to watch a show about Hollywood? When is that town EVER going to learn that NOBODY cares about HOW they do what they do except for them. Too narcissistic.

18. You might want to pay attention in the non-hollywood comments to really figure out why it isn't connecting .

For one (call me ignorant because I am) I don't know "sorkin" and wouldn't know what is sorkinesque or not.

Is the monday night football crowd one that would watch this show?

Haven't even seen the other NBC show referred to above so I'm not even sure that is relevant to some of us.

Bottom line, it looks like hollywood cannot exist by itself, they need us nobodies too.

19. how you write us and tell us what to watch, i cannot believe this, its just like t he control over the shows we have to watch, i hate studio 60, i like brothers and sisters, but sally field needs a face lift, makeup and a neck lift, and fellicita (cant spell her last name how does harrison ford go with her) is so terribly ugly i cannot watch that either, give me smith and i will be happy. matthew perry is so phony. had enough of the west wing to last a life time as well as friends, give us new stuff, that is why heroes made it as well as desire

20. Personally, I think Amanda Peet is terrific, the writing is clever, whole thing is captivating. Just my opinion.

21. Gee looks like someone around here owns a stake in the show...a parent company perhaps?

22. LOVE THIS SHOW! But I'm not surprised that it's failing - for the most part the American public cannot handle sharply written, witty and cutting edge comedy/drama. The West Wing was the best drama ever to have been on TV (and this coming from a Canadian), but you have to be able to follow intelligent conversation to appreciate it. With most people hooked on MINDLESS SH*T like "The Bachelor"... "Wife Swap"... or any of a dozen "judge" shows that all support a generation of ignorant viewers, it's no wonder.

23. about brothers and sisters - that's funny I too can't get over Calista Flockheart playing the fought over romantic lead. She was barely cute the first time and she doesn't look all that fresh at this age to warrant that part (but of course they guys are hot and young looking) - maybe she needs to eat more fat so her skin doesn't looks so ashy and old. Needless to say I don't watch that show either.

24. Tracey - You could not have put it better.

25. Tracey - please stop insulting the american public in general. I could say something equally inane like "hey canadian go drink some beer, eh?"

Funny that someone with such discerning taste is right here in the mud at tmz like the rest of us. Not only that, almost all network tv is mindless. When I want well written intelligent programming I watch PBS - history detectives, Nova, American Experience etc.

26. Why don't people watch Studio 60? That's easy because it sucks. Nobody wants to watch a story about the behind the scenes life of a horrible tragedy of a show that is Saturday Night Live. No one cares what goes into it except for Hollywood types. This show was made for the city of LA in mind as a captive audience, but really no one else in the world gives a rat's ass. The lines are so forced (like everything else on tv) and the acting is brutal. This show will be canceled very, very shortly. Doesn't matter what night it's on. Terrible self absored TV always gets canceled.

27. why did you move this to nowhereland? don't ask if you can't take the truth.

28. I agree with the majority. I have tried to watch it a couple times, but it is too "Hollywood", too preachy, too much Amanda (never have liked her), and it is NOT funny. I'm watching "What About Brian", a much better show.

I think the critics like this show because they enjoy the Hollywood politics. I could care less.

29. Maybe the reason Hollywood assumes we care so much about what goes on there is because of TMZ and all the other sites that obsess about celebrities . When we stop caring about what these people are wearing, saying, eating, and where they're hanging out we'll stop getting "shows about shows." I mean there's even a story on here about some so-called celebrity that I've never even heard of and her dog!

30. Critics don't dictate how I view a tv show or film. I don't feel any connection towards the characters. I really wonder if this series will being picked up next yr.
Didn't Sorkin work on one or two episodes of Commnader In Chief? If so, I would rather watch that show w/out a doubt!
