Why Aren't You Watching "Studio 60"?

Dear TMZ readers,

We don't like to preach to you about what you should and shouldn't watch. Love "Dancing With the Stars"? Great. Hate "Grey's Anatomy"? We can forgive that. But you're not watching "Studio 60" and this has to stop. Starting tonight.

You don't need us to tell you how great it is -- every other TV critic has already done that. So, we're not sure what we can say to make you watch it. Um, you liked "The West Wing," right? Same writer. And we know you loved "Friends" -- this has Chandler!

In tonight's episode (10PM ET/PT on NBC), Harriet talks about God with a Vanity Fair reporter while Sting warms up in the background. Yes, that's right -- they've got Sting, too!

So, in closing, please watch "Studio 60." A world where "CSI: Miami" does double the viewership than "Studio 60" is not a world worth living in.

Thanks,

TMZ.com

46. I also agree with tracey. It's by far the best tv show on air. I'm from portugal, i get all the jokes about hollywood and some "USA inside jokes", i don´t understand how americans say it's to much "inside hollywood" , hollywood shapes public opinion in that contry.
I really don´t understand, but from a nation that ellected bush has president, maybe that had to espected.
Did you guys thought about paris hilton or kevin federline for next president ?

47. I love this show! I not only love the actors, with Matthew Perry by far my favorite, but I think that the writing is quick, intelligent, and witty and it is my favorite show on television. I fear that some of the other comments posted are frighteningly accurate with regards to what currently holds the attention span of the average american television viewer and that we have become a country that does not want to have to think about what they are watching on tv. My other fear is that the show's humor with all its nuances and fast pace goes above the heads of the average viewer; and therefore, they do not find it as funny as it really is! No matter, they are the ones missing out! Please keep up the great work!

48. In a very short time, "Studio 60" has become one of my favorite shows.
It is a pity that many people just don't get the premise of the show.

Though it is a show about an SNL-like show, it is not a comedy. It is a drama. (unlike "30 Rock" which is a sitcom about a Comedy/Variety show so it is a comedy). S60 still has some funny moments, but relies mostly on clever dialogue to derive its humor (and some ironic physical humor like the bat accidentally shattering the window). But as long as people don't get references like Restoration Comedy, August Strindberg and the Hollywood 10, the show will never be a breakout smash. This a sad commentary on how many people today not only fail to appreciate culture and historical events, but don't understand them. This show entertains with smart and interesting characters and give us some insight into the state of television today.

Thank you Mr. Sorkin for giving us yet another show to make us think.
