Madonna's Baby Delivered to UK

Madge's newly adopted one-year-old son was surrounded by photogs hoping for a glimpse of the boy after his plane landed at Heathrow Airport.

The baby, David Banda, was covered with a gray sweatshirt while being carried by a female assistant, possibly the child's nanny. He received star treatment and was escorted from the terminal to a silver Mercedes by three armed guards.

Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie were nowhere in sight though Madge's publicist Liz Rosenberg insists the family will be reunited "in the next few days."

The couple has been granted temporary custody of the Malawian child for 18 months. While the law of Malawi requires the would-be parents to live in the African country for a year under the investigation of welfare officers before adoption, Rosenberg claims the couple "will be evaluated by the courts of Malawi per the tribal customs of the country," albeit in England.

UPDATE: Madonna has issued a statement saying she and husband Guy Ritchie "began the adoption process many months prior to our trip to Malawi" and that reports alleging the couple did not follow proper procedure are "inaccurate." Click here to read her complete statement.

16. I hope for the childs sake that the Father didn't sign away any rights. He wants to be his Father, he just can't afford it. What a shame. I'm very disqusted with Madonna. Her family is nothing like the Pitt- Jolie family!

17. The story as I understand it is this. Madonna was given the blessing from the child's father to proceed with the adoption. She originally went to Africa on a humanitarian mission to open an orphanage, of which she donated some $3 million dollars to do, during her visit she met this young boy and probably felt the need to care for him as one of her own children. I see nothing wrong with this. Yes there are background checks to be done for adoption purposes and apparently she had done everything in accordance to US adoption policies, but Malawie (spelling?) does not allow international adoption and there inlies the problem. Angeline brought, I mean got her children from african countries that do allow international adoptions. That is the only difference. BIG DEAL that she sent a nanny and a guard to pick up her new son, perhaps being the busiest women in show business she had concert dates or other such committments that she couldn't post-pone at last minute, it happens. The point is that this child will now be given the best that life has to offer, there is no limit to the opportunities available for this child.

19. just sad that children have become fashion accessories.........but I will give Angelina credit - - at least she holds her children. Come on, Madge, adopting a child involves love and nurturing as well........we know your new babe will be raised by three nannies, a chef and an event planner.

21. Alright, so now adoptive kids are delivered via airmail? Why weren't the adoptive parents at the airport to greet this child? Knowing that stars always receive special treatment I am sure that they could have somehow arranged a private rendevouz to welcome this child into his new home.

Not a good way to start out here, Madge & Guy. I cannot even imagine what might be going through this child's mind; maybe he's wondering why his adoptive parents didn't find it important enough to meet him at the airport.

22. I heard on the news this morning that baby David's real dad wants him back. The news said that David's birth mom died from complications of his birth, and that David's other two brothers have died. So David is the only child left of this family. Give him back, Madonna, before you become attached! Lay a load of $$ on his dad so that David can be raised in his homeland. Adopt one of the many other orphans. Just my opinion.

23. Madonna is such a copycat wanna- be. Everyone knows this bitch only does things for herself. At least Angelina and Brad are hands on parents unlike Madonna who has a nanny carry her new child around for her. Who the hell does she thinks she's trying to fool?

24. Madonna - there are lots of needy kids in Detroit who need your attention. Ever think it might be nice to give back to the community and country that gave you so much?

Hello?

26. Madonna is a attention whore who has to have her face and
body plastered in newspapers and on the media.
Hey remember before her children's books came out she had
graphic SEX books with her as the major player? Now she's
Mother of The Year? Don't think so.
Give me a break and disappear.

27. I can NOT believe you people. This kid was sitting in an orphanage with absolutely NOTHING going for him. His dad GAVE him away BEFORE Madonna showed any interest. He went from orphanage to a pampered life. EVEN if it IS the nanny that raises him it's going to be leagues ahead of what he had. Give me a break. And why is it that she's doing this for publicity? How could she do it and NOT be stalked by media? Everything she does is in the public eye, therefore everything she does if for media attention? That doesn't seem fair. Come on...seriously, given the choice, if you were a year old and had the knowledge you have, would you rather spend your time in an orphanage in a third world country or with Madonna and company with millions at your fingertips. I think you ALL know the answer to that question.

28. I think it would have been better for Madonna to help the father of this child and his family with money and support instead of uprooting the child from his family and culture. Just because she is a so-called celeb doesn't make it right. The child should have been helped in his own country.

29. Wow..such HATE from some of you for a noble act from Madonna. Gosh, I guess we should hate her for trying to help some poor little child? Media whore? Sure she could be deemed that, but this adoption was not for media attention. She gave THREE MILLION DOLLARS to the cause in Malawi, which I am sure would benefit MANY children there. I am truly inspired and in awe of what Madonna did and I am sorry that some of you are so full of hate to find something WRONG with what she did. Now, had Anna Nicole Smith pulled off this adoption, then you all could sling some mud around here. Someone does something good and you all gotta find something wrong with it. Geez, who are some of you people anyways? Friggen LOSERS????

30. The more I read these comments the more disgusted I get. The woman adopts a child and all she is to you is a "copy-cat whore" and a "wannabe". I'm not a Madonna worshipper by any means...I'm NO celebrity worshipper, I prefer my own life to an imaginary one, thank you very much, but don't you see how pathetic it sounds to rag on a person for ADOPTING a child who was already given away to an orphanage? The child was GIVEN up by his father before she adopted him. He was ALREADY in an orphange. What is WRONG with you? I can't understand it. I sit here and try to comprehend the lunacy of it all...but I'm sorry, It doesn't make any sense.
