Did "Grey's" Brawl Force Knight Out of the Closet?

T.R. Knight"Grey's Anatomy" star T.R. Knight told PEOPLE exclusively that he is gay. But was this coming out of his own free will, or as a result of the much-hyped fight between "Grey's" stars Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey?

PEOPLE released a statement from Knight today that said, "While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me."

But the National Enquirer may have tipped us off to the story when they reported that during the fight between Washington and Dempsey, Washington yelled, "I'm not your little faggot like (name deleted)."

The Enquirer said they withheld the name of the co-star Washington mentioned "because of the extreme nature of the slur."

Does Knight's disclosure confirm the Enquirer's story?

Calls to Washington's reps were not immediately returned.

196. Quite frankly, who cares if he's gay or not? Personally, I am tired hearing about who's
in or out of the closet, and has no bearing on their talent.

197. well i think its a shame that this happend but it just goes to show that homophobia is alive and well. i also belive we need to stop it when we hear it. This popular phrase we hear so much "thats so gay" needs to stop anytime you say that remember how ignorent you sound.

198. I do not think any slur is right. Do we really know this was said? What was the whole conversation? When you only hear part of the conversation sometimes an assumption is made which may not be factual. There is two sides to every story.

199. I was sooooo disappointed when I heard that about T.R. Knight, I think he's such a cutie! Why, I don't know, like I thought I actually had a shot at him or something, lol. Did anyone see him on the Tony Danza show? What a doll! I just really would have never thought, it was such a disappointment, but I'll still love watching him on the show.

200. I personally dont care if he is gay, but I was a little dissapointed because I think he's totally hot. Not that any of us would have a chance with a famous actor anyways, but like I said, he's HOT. And I never would have guessed him as gay, but thats ok...he's still awesome and a great hot actor, and he plays a great guy on Greys'. I love that show!

201. Blame on the black guy? Oh Please! Black or white he is still an A@$!!!! There is not enough "dip" in the world for that huge "chip" on Isaiahs shoulder. They should cast someone worthy of playing Sandra Oh's love interest.
Playing the "race" card? Did'nt Cochran play it enough already??? Kudos to T.R Knight! It's a great show and he is supported by a wonderful cast. And at the end of the day... everyone should be accountable for thier actions. No matter the color or orientation.

202.

Have to agree with this one hundred percent folks.
Homophobia is rampant in the country these days.........and
there is little justification for it.
If gays move onto your street...they are probably the most highly
educated people on your street.
Gay men who have partners are NOT interested in your little
six year old son.

There have been homosexuals for years in the arts...and it is a shame
they have had to work hard to keep their sexauality a secret.
How difficult it probably was not that long ago.
BUT still today......there are people who get so repulsed and
angry thinking anyone might be homosexual.
HEY...to them I say......love is love.
Life is so short.
You love who you love and that's that.

203. I find it ..ummm, what's a good word? Indicative of our society that Mr. Washington may make a comment that is a slur(to put it mildly) and get off with what basically amounts to something like a wink and a nudge...while Michael Richards has effectively torpedoed his career...why is that might one suppose? One younger man on his way up(theoretically) and one older man sinking out of sight...sad in either case and just plain wrong from every possible point of view.

BTW: I thing the George character is perfectly adorable(aside form some continually questional haircuts). I was not planning on dating him nor was I planning on fixing him up with anyone I know of any gender...his sexuality is not anyone's business but his own and that is the way it should remain.

204. I agree that if the story is true, Washington should be fired. If someone else on set made a racial or derogatory statement /slur towards Washington for being black, there would be a media frenzy! There is no doubt they would be fired and their character assassinated by the media ie: Kramer and Mel Gibson. Now I am not in anyway defending Kramer or Mel, what they said was wrong and they deserve any and all repercussions. I do find it interesting that when racial or derogatory slurs are made by ethnic people against whites or gays, it does not seem to be as big of an issue with the media and with people in general. Before anyone calls me a white supremacist, I may not be black, but I'm not white either.

205. Hey commentor #7. Washington already admitted he said it.!!!!! Get your head out of your ass!! You think you bastards should be able to say or do anything and get away with it because you are black and got screwed over 200 years ago. Move On !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
