Gossip & Rumors
Did "Grey's" Brawl Force Knight Out of the Closet?

T.R. Knight"Grey's Anatomy" star T.R. Knight told PEOPLE exclusively that he is gay. But was this coming out of his own free will, or as a result of the much-hyped fight between "Grey's" stars Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey?

PEOPLE released a statement from Knight today that said, "While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me."

But the National Enquirer may have tipped us off to the story when they reported that during the fight between Washington and Dempsey, Washington yelled, "I'm not your little faggot like (name deleted)."

The Enquirer said they withheld the name of the co-star Washington mentioned "because of the extreme nature of the slur."

Does Knight's disclosure confirm the Enquirer's story?

Calls to Washington's reps were not immediately returned.

31. I simply cannot imagine a grown man like Isiah, making GOOD money as a TV star, acting like that toward someone who was probably nothing but nice to him -- and THEN reportedly manhandling someone else. Huh? Have we time-warped back to middle school?

32. And, as has been noted, can you imagine how Isiah would have reacted if someone called HIM a slur? This is so juvenile -- he needs to make serious, sincere, public amends or get the boot, quick. I am not gay myself, but his behavior is TOTALLY unacceptable. BTW, the subject shouldn't have even come up -- not his business.

33. I find this turn of events positively embarassing and telling...if in fact the reports are true. I don't know any of those people, and least of all whether or not one of them is truly homophobic. I do know that when someone willfully demeans ANYONE, we are all impacted. Congratulations to TR Knight for being his own person and keeping perspective at a time when others couldn't. I hope his personal strength keeps bringing him the fulfillment he is working towards.

34. Some actions go beyond unprofessional and become simply unforgiveable. I hope the producers have enough guts to cut Washington loose.

35. And, BTW, Isiah should have arrested for assault. Any of us would have been, you can bet.

38. Washington was in the Air Force prior to acting. So a lot of what he learned in the military was brought to his current job. We all have baggage that we drag into personal and professional relationships. Like the majority of human beings, his character is flawed. Dempsey will not file assault charges against Washington because it would hold up production and that's very costly. That's why their reps want to put a lid on the pot and allow it to simmer 'til the flame burns out. What we all need to learn how to do is be considerate and respect the personal lives of others. "Grey's Anatomy" remains one of the best shows shot out of Hollywood.

39. Good for you T.R.. Its time we stop hiding the truth and live the moment.

Sorry something so sad had to help you come out, but good for you. I will be a big fan of George now!

Washington should be fired. Like many others have said, If someone had said something about his race in a negative manor, then they would want the same.

41. #40 -- My grandfather, father, mother, brother, stepson, and 2 cousins have all been -- or are currently in -- the Air Force, Navy, and/or Marine Corps. None of them ever attacked or choked anyone later in life because of it.

42. Has the world gone Homosexual? Where has all the straight people in Hollywood gone? The Opposite Sexual Partners turned them all out into Homosexuals? Look at the insults defending Homosexuality and calling Washington Names. Some people believe anything Tabloids say which means they are living in a Screwed up Dream World anyway. There appears to be so many Alley dwellers they know who goes to the alleys? What were they doing there to see others there? Peeping or participating? Name Calling places them in the same Class as the Pervert. We need to wake up because God has nothing to do with or without Homosexuality, And if you're a grown person and discovered you are much more comfortable with the same SEX then you NEED more Help than you realize. A couple is a Man and Woman.

43. Okay, I REALLY DID NOT NEED to know this about TR Knight. Some things are just better left alone and unsaid. I do agree that Isiah Washington should not have blurted this statement out loud and I commend Patrick Dempsey for standing up fot his friend. But I REALLY, REALLY DID NOT NEED to know this about my honeybun George. I guess I'll just have to keep him in my dreams.

44. #43 -- I was not excusing Washington's actions on the set. What he did was wrong. He has anger control issues, like many of those responding to this blog entry. Perhaps that was why he went into the military. We can psycho analyze 'til we're blue in the face. The bottom line remains that Washington needs to learn how to adapt to all situations and all types of people. This is not a race issue. This is not a gay issue. It's an anger control issue.

45. #44 Linda. Dont you find it a little hypocritical that you're over here preaching about god and about man and woman if you're on a website that im sure your church pastor, reverend, father or rabbi would instruct you NOT to go on?
If you believe that whatever the tabloids say are lies, then why are you even on tmz.com to begin with?

Before you go preaching to the world that they may need help for falling in love with a PERSON that may or may not have the same genitalia as them, maybe you should check your values instead.
And as for the topic at hand. I completely agree. T.R rock on! you're helping the world accept everyone. Isaiah, you should be ashamed. If it was a racial slur directed towards you then you would have been calling your lawyer within seconds of the incident. Patrick Dempsey, I admire you for sticking up for what you think is right.
Im really starting to wonder how long this incident has been going on because it seems to me like they've been writing Dr.Burke out of the show over the past few weeks.
