Did "Grey's" Brawl Force Knight Out of the Closet?

T.R. Knight"Grey's Anatomy" star T.R. Knight told PEOPLE exclusively that he is gay. But was this coming out of his own free will, or as a result of the much-hyped fight between "Grey's" stars Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey?

PEOPLE released a statement from Knight today that said, "While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me."

But the National Enquirer may have tipped us off to the story when they reported that during the fight between Washington and Dempsey, Washington yelled, "I'm not your little faggot like (name deleted)."

The Enquirer said they withheld the name of the co-star Washington mentioned "because of the extreme nature of the slur."

Does Knight's disclosure confirm the Enquirer's story?

Calls to Washington's reps were not immediately returned.

63. You can bet if it was Dempsey or Knight that said something derrogitory about Washington being a "N*****" (ref to his thuggish attack not his race) they would have been fired on the spot.

64. so this is what happens when no body all of a sudden become famous?? they become automatic enemies because this or that cast member is more famous. y they hell cant these ppl ever get along. i think the bigger shocker is that its the male cast mates who are feuding and NOT the females this time. seriously guys GROW UP (washington AND dempsey that is) dont put some1 innocent in the middle

65. As if "MC" Steamy never uttered the word N***** in his entire life. Dempey and Washington were having a private conversation... They sorted it out.. It is over with...case closed!

66. people! these are just actors. so what, have you been followed and had every word you uttered for days or even weeks analyzed? what he said is in poor taste, but nothing to lose your job over. and why are you assuming anyone would get lawyers???? puhlease! say with me again; these are just actors. they have nothing to do with our own integrity .by the way i am gay, and i don`t think it is that big a deal, and why do we believe it? that`s entertainment!!

67. You know, I've been pretty PO'd at this guy I work with for some time now. I didn't really appreciate him making that little remark about how HE'S always on time and I'M not. I think I might just go up to him and grab him by the throat and shove him back. Then I'll explain that I'm emotional and an 'artist,' and was only blowing off steam. I'm sure everyone will let me walk, right?

68. And I'll slur another innocent party while I'm at it. I'm sure everyone will understand and just let it go.

70. I have known TR since he was a little boy (went to grade school and high school with him) and this is one thing I didnt want to know either. It's NONE OF MY BUSINESS. I feel bad that he felt the need to come out in light of the situation. He is such a wonderful actor to watch, and I hope this wont effect his career negatively.

71. Gay or not I love McCutie. He adds alot to the show and if in fact any comment was made as to his sexual preference it should not be relavent. Isiah should be at the very least made to make a public apology if not fired IF that is what happened (we are listening to tabloids people). It is every persons choice to keep their personal life personal. Especially in Hollywood where they are in the spotlight 24/7. This is Americal People.!
Oh and Tyler (you know who you are) it is not a black, white or purple thing. Shame on you for making it into a racist issue!

72. If someone used the "N" word referring to Washington he would have been thrown off the show immediately. This indicates that gays are the new targets and any insult toward them is OK.
I'm getting tired of these prima donnas in the entertainment field being allowed to say anything they want to without any repercussions.
Maybe Washington will announce he is going into rehab.

73. Thank you Siggy for introducing us "kidz" to the real world! I don't know how we would have or could have survived without your powerful sermon.

We need more of your enlightenment on here, as we obviously came on TMZ for some intellectual yarn!

75. Now a former costumer who worked on a set with Washington says that Isaiah also grabbed him in a temper fit back in 1996 over something trivial. McNasty, Burke.
