Keith Urban Enters Rehab

It appeared his life was picture perfect, but now Keith Urban says he's been battling alcohol abuse and has entered a treatment rehabilitation center.

According to a statement issued by Urban's publicist, the country singer checked himself in last night with Nicole Kidman, his wife of four months, by his side.

Urban says, "I deeply regret the hurt this has caused Nicole and the ones that love and support me." He adds, "One can never let one's guard down on recovery and I'm afraid that I have."

Urban's statement ends with this message: "With the strength and unwavering support I am blessed to have from my wife, family and friends, I am determined and resolved to a positive outcome."

This is not Urban's first stint in rehab. The singer sought help in late 1998 for drug and alcohol abuse. Urban, who has admitted to free basing cocaine, once told USA Weekend Magazine "I had this house in Nashville where I used to do drugs. ... I remember one night crawling around on my hands and knees, looking for these little rocks at five in the morning."

All immediate appearances by Urban have been postponed.

61. #48 Right on..... I am so sick of all these fake stars when my friends mention any of them I say PLEASE WHO CARES about any of them WACKOS and I mean all of them they really all make me sick. I live by Wilminghton NC. they have a movie studio my friends that had maybe not big roles in movies but had some role said the big time movie stars are so rude and think there sh--t don't stink. they say they are so FAKE and I feel bad for you all that worship them I have better things to do in my life then worry or talk about all these CRAZY ASS PEOPLE..... DON'T CARE.....

64. Drugs and alcohol doesn't discriminate against anyone. Rich, famous, poor, black, white and so on. It is very sad that some people don't realize (or don't tell the truth) how hard an addiction can be. And I might add that addiction isn't just about drugs and alcohol. One can be addicted to anything. I honestly believe that we all have addictions whether we admit it or not.

65. Come on Keith, STAY STRONG! You can overcome this. Your Golden Road CD was the inspiration to me for so many of the same reasons. Life is hard but it can be so good too and you proved that to me. For all you've done for me, a heartfelt thank you! I'm keeping you in my prayers and thoughts. You can do it by the grace of God. We are all pulling for you! Besides, I want to see a Keith Jr AND I want to see you in concert again. Your November 2005 Amherst MA show was totally awesome! A memory I'll never ever forget :)

68. If I remember correctly, there is a clause in their prenup about his substance abuse. I agree with The One, this marriage is done if he doesn't clean up IMMEDIATELY. I don't believe she'll stick around for another bout with rehab.

It's sad really.

69. It never ceases to amaze me how so many people can be so hostile and put others down, when they themselves cannot even spell or construct a simple sentence. Keith is not a robot, he is a person and people make mistakes. How many "regular" people do you know who have been to rehab? I know plenty. And most of them have been more than once, because that's what it takes. Thank god for this option, because where would we be if we couldn't get help. So, all of you "perfect" people out there, keep up the good work!!!!

I'm not going to be an an apologist for Keith Urban, and he's responsible for his actions. Having said that, many people don't know that relapse is very common
among addicts. So much so that many facilities have strategies to deal with this issue.

I know of friends and family who have had several relapses before they could stay in recovery. Many folks (I did, too) believe that going to a rehab facility is a one time trip to staying on the wagon. That's not the case for many people.

72. Once you are an alcoholic you always will be one. He will have to deal with this the rest of his life. He should never ever pick up a drink again. Not even to toast anyone. That is all it takes to fall of the wagon. It destroys lives. I wish him and Nicole well.

74. its funny how people can look at big country star keith urban and wish him well and support him and give a big hoo ha. but yet if it was your fav. black actor or singer or whatever the case is, you would say "it doesnt suprise me" or "theyll always be on drugs" its funny how as soon as a black person gets caught doin drugs or having an addiction esp. to cocaine, they are called a crackhead or feind. well ill say this KEITH URBAN IS A CRACKHEAD

She married him knowing he has a problem...Correct?
Any moron knows a person with any addiction can not be left alone for long periods of time---only a few weeks inot this marriage she was off jet setting.Where was Keith????? Who knows-not with her....
