17. How do you know those kids are loved and cared for? Why did they name their son a boy's name and their daughter a boy's name also? I realize that there are people with grandmothers named Johnnie; but in this day and age, Johnnie is clearly a boy's name. Why didn't they name their son, Kirsten? I honestly think they did it on purpose because they are a lesbian couple. They don't want her to feel she has to buy into the whole feminine thing. Females are created that way because they are NOT males! I understand that there are females that are not very feminine, BUT I don't think it is right for a parent to label a girl with a boy's name to backup THEIR beliefs. Honestly, I highly doubt they named her Johnnie because either one of them has a grandmother of the same name.

19. #16 I agree.

If there are people out there who do NOT belive that there is an AGENDA that the Homosexual "community" has and is trying to force into the mainstream you are sadly deluded. I also agree that life is too short to hate, so I don't but I don't by this "let's all gather 'round the big GAY campfire" stuff either. "A name is a name" how true: "Perdition is try name, oh whore who sits upon many waters..." Read your Bible, Accept Jesus as your personal savior and renounce sin.

I will pray for you that you put aside the wickedness and weakness of the flesh. You just need to find a MAN, with a big strong DICK, who will bang you until you see stars.

20. Ok first of all .. I'm a lesbian. Although I'm quite proud of who I am, if I were to have children, I'd raise them to be who they are .. gay .. straight .. asexual .. *gulp* Republican *shiver* .. whatever. It's called acceptance, something many of you need a lesson in.

Tammy and Melissa have proven to be great parents to Melissa's other two children. Lucky for these kids, they will grow up loved, secure, accepting, and god willing .. happy. They won't wind up bitter, angry, ignorant, foul-mouthed idiots who have nothing better to do with their time than spread hate in an already screwed up world.

I for one LOVE the names they've selected. These children have yet another opportunity. To be unique, and not another Tom or Mary. Knowing how Melissa and Tammy are both spiritual and symbolic women, I'm betting there's a reason for their names and that it means a lot to them. Whatever the case, it's not our business, nor is it our place to judge.

Lets get freaking serious here and ask what the f*ck Gwyneth Paltrow was thinking when she named her baby APPLE. I'm all for originality and all .. but c'mon. That's just mean. Or how about my friend with the last name of Bridges, who named her child London. Or maybe my friends, the Piper's .. who named their child Peter. Miller and Johnnie have it made in the shade.

Congratulations to Melissa, to Tammy, to their ever-growing family :)

22. "White Girl"....Get a grip on your anger and your attitude. What you need is a good slap across the mouth from a really bitch looking chick. Maybe that will settle you down. You are the epitome of WHITE TRASH and all that it stands for!!!!!!

24. #7 - How Ignorant can you be saying something like that. Do you think people raise their children to become a homosexual or a lesbian. Real up on it, that's if you can read.

Congratulations Melissa and Tammy to the new additions to your family. This must bring great joy and give Melissa more reason to fight.

I would also like to compliment you both for the discretion you live your lives by. Be who you are, but thank God you don't jam it down people's throat like another famous lesbian who is now accusing everyone of being a lesbian.

Just goes to show Melissa and Tammy have class.

Can't wait to see pictures of the gifts God gave you both.

25. #2 and #8, can you possibly be more ignorant and stupid. Why don't you try reading a book. You are born the way you choose to live your life. It is not something you wake up one day and say "I think I will become a lesbian today".
At least Melissa and Tammy are private about their lives, not showing it down people's throat every day.

And the name Johnnie is a hell of a lot better then Apple, Wolfgang, or a girl named Moxie Crime Fighter.

Melissa and Tammy best wishes, health and happiness to your babies.

26. I think it's so hilarious when people say that gay people are pushing an "agenda" whenever they want to adopt children or get married or hold hands or do anything that any other human on this planet does. They are just living their lives, like anyone else, and they have a right to do anything anyone straight, black, white, hindu, or christian does. It's not like they are aliens being beamed down to the planet who are inhuman trying to usurp everyone else of their lifestyles. Their "agenda" is to live and breathe and have the same human rights everyone else has, nothing more and nothing less. I can't believe how rediculous some of these comments are. Who cares what the kid's name is or if it's a boy or girl name? If anything, this isn't 1920 (though some people on this site apparently still think it is) and women in our society actually do more than cook and clean and raise kids now and men do more than go to work and societal gender roles and views are in far more transition than ever before so if girls or boys have opposite sex names, who gives a crap? Aren't there more important issues or topics about their lives we could be discussing? I guess I shouldn't be surprised that some of the people making the biggest judgements against other people's lifestyles in here are the same people that would judge someone based on their FIRST NAME. I'm glad I don't know half you people, it's such an embarrassment to have to share a planet with you.

27. White Girl, you're a dumb slut and you're comments are constantly making me have to swallow my own vomit. Go Google "bigot" and "racist" and find a message board where you belong. F*** you and your religious zeal.

29. I have volunteered at a homeless shelter and a food pantry. I have also done a lot to raise money for cancer research. So, now what?.... I was just giving my opinion because that's what this comment section is for. I don't hate anyone, but I have my own opinions on why people do things sometimes, and in my opinion, they named their little girl Johnnie for a reason. I may be wrong, because maybe she is named after someone. I guess that makes me wonder why they didn't name their son Johnnie though. Obviously gay parents don't make their children become gay, and I wasn't suggesting that naming her Johnnie will cause her to become a lesbian. I do feel that a child's name can cause he or she to be labeled though, and I don't think that's fair. Whether it's Apple or Peter Piper or Johnnie Etheridge. That child has to grow up with that name and deal with the consequences of it - not the parent. I also realize that there are many girls with boys' names, but as the daughter of a lesbian, I guarantee she is already at a disadvantage because people can be cruel.

30. I love these two and I think the name Johnnie kicks ass. Remember 'Frankie and Johnnie were lovers', one of my favorite old time songs.
