17. Because, GeneWagoner, it didn't reek liberal enough to make national news - if you help Americans or our fighting men and women, that's not news. If you're throwing your money at a foreign country, what a wonderful humanitarian you are!!

Also, a lot of celebrities make sure their PR person issues a press release about their "good works" so that it's all over the news. My guess is Denzel did it because he WANTED to, not because he wanted a shiny new star on his celebrity record, so unless someone hears about it and grabs it up for national attention, it won't get the instantaneous response.

18. I think that Madonna should just keep the child and the deranged father should go off and breed some more children that he cannot afford. I also think that this father is a selfish sonofabitch for not wanting what is best for his child he has not been able to care for this little guy since he was 5 weeks old and now he is going to have one of the most fantastic lives ever and the idiot did not understand. To bad maybe if she gave his money he would be more willing to let the child go. I think Madonna should just keep the child and disregard the father and his stupidity.

20. I think she should toss the little bugger back into the dilapidated orphanage where he belongs and not give his family one bit of the extortion money they're looking for. What kind of a half assed father is this guy? He changes his story for each interview. Send him back and then let all the people whine about “oh now she gives him back to starve in Africa”, she f#@ked either way. The press and the bleeding hearts have again ruined another kids chance at having a better life.

These Madonna's and Angelina's with all their money could and should adopt in the United States but you see it doesn't sell magazine's and make the news and all the TV show's Oprah etc. which all adds up to money$$$$Therefore you have to go to poorest countries in the world to make the news . It's just another case of the rich get richer by just talking about this little guy whose to young to know what all the fuss is about . Bet she gets to keep him.

26. If Oprah wants to be really fair she'll have the father there for his version. I'm sure it's not beyong her means. If he is truly that poor who woudn't be dazzled by all the press etc. and hoping to provide better for his child? He deserves to be heard!!

And now that the government of the African country you are trying to adopt the child from has admitted that the father is lying about his claims of ignorance about the adoption process...I think this should prove to everyone that dear old dad is positioning himself for a quick and big pay off at Madonna's expense...one that Madonna should resist!!!

This is the reason why all adoptions should be done blindly, so that in the case of famous or wealthy people trying to adopt a child, they aren't promptly treated to a media and human rights group provoked monetary shake down by greedy relatives of the child...as what has happened in this sorrowful situation.

Finally, it is sad to see that so many people, because of their own deeply held prejudices choose to stabbed Madonna in the back rather than to support her in her sincere attempts to help an abandoned child who was living in a orphanage before Madonna intervened to help him. And you hear these same people paroting the same excuse: "What about American babies...they need adopting too!" And yes they do need adopting too...but a hungry mouth is a hungry mouth no matter what. These children, no matter what country they come from are human beings just like us...and deserve a chance to live just as wee do. If Jesus was here right now...he'd tell you that. So enough with that ridiculous line of the argument. According to the United Nations...the amount of money America has spent on the Iraq War alone could have completely ended all poverty world wide...but thanks to George Bush, he'd rather spend that money to take over independant nations in order to steal their oil, than to save the lives of the impoverished...including unwanted American children who are over crowded in our own orphanages. For the richest nation in the world...this should not be happening, but alas it is, because some of you who choose to attack Madonna on these issues and the Jolie/Pitt family... are too cowardly to take on George Bush and Dick Cheney!!!


I find it even more sad that Madonna lost her mother to cancer and may lose her father to the same insidious disease. God bless you all...my prayers and fullest support are with you...Madonna and family.

30. I'm having a change-of-heart about this and now feel really bad for Madonna on this
subject. Whatever her motives, she's saving a child (it doesn't matter where this child is from either)
and we should encourage celebrities and people in general to do good things. We can't make Madonna
a better person by hating her, but we can applaud any action she takes that will benefit another life.
I'm sure there are probably more complicated things that happened than her just trying to "steal"
a son from his father. Even if I hated Madonna (and I don't care about her really), I would assume that
she did this with pretty decent intentions.
