Celebrity Feuds
Oxy-Moron Limbaugh and Fox Ignite Stem Debate

Pill-popping conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh blasted Michael J. Fox recently for a political ad in which Fox supports stem-cell research. And now, right-wing cronies, celebrities, and even Jesus are taking sides against Fox and his position.

In Fox's ad, supporting Missouri Senate candidate Claire McCaskill (and other pro-stem-cell candidates), he sways and jerks uncontrollably, visible symptoms of his Parkinson's Disease. Limbaugh criticized Fox's spot as "purely an act," a remark for which he received a swift and vociferous backlash. (Limbaugh subsequently apologized.)

But today, on "Good Morning America," fellow right-wing lip-flapper Sean Hannity came to Limbaugh's defense, saying that Fox had a right to be criticized. (The National Parkinson's Foundation, in a statement issued to TMZ, explains that Fox's symptoms are actually the result of taking medication and that not taking meds would result in stiffness.)

And, in an ad airing during tonight's Game 4 of baseball's World Series, "Everybody Loves Raymond's" Patricia Heaton, Jim Caviezel (who played Jesus Christ in "The Passion of the Christ" and applies some Aramaic to his message here), and several pro athletes urge viewers to vote against Missouri's Amendment Two, which would provide constitutional protections against embryonic stem cell research.

48. I also live with a painful auto-immune disorder that could eventually be treated with stem cells, but despite what the truth is this Fox/Limbaugh mess, there is no way anyone could ever get me to kill babies to cure my disease...no matter how badly I have to suffer. Stem Cell usage is morally reprehensable and just plain sickening. God is crying for all of you.

50. My first husband died of Parkinsons, it was a very fast acting Parkinsons which took over and killed all of his organs. He had to live his last days in a nursing home which he HATED but had to. Nothing worked in his body at the end.
I live with Multiple Sclerosis. It's OK now, but may not be in the future.
How dare Rush and Glen Beck, whom I am watching right now, say it is wrong to use stem cells that will be THROWN AWAY and could be used for research.
What creeps they are and pretending to be such good Christians. Bull.
They are devils! Patty

51. Um, seems to me that the technical definition of Parkinsons' precludes Fox's ability to fake ANY type of movement. He can't control his movements, therefore, he can't FAKE his movements. Ergo, Rush Limbaugh is an idiot. Of course, as soon as anyone heard him say ‘have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?', the fact that he's an idiot was apparent to non-idiots. Only those as stupid and ignorant as Rush can defend the things he says on a regular basis.

If you disagree with stem cell research, fair enough, that's your opinion and your right. I don't totally disagree, either. To actually insult a man who can't control his movements, by suggesting he's faking them, makes Limbaugh an idiot.

52. I heard that entire Rush show and he did not mock Fox. Anyone who heard his show would agree. To know Rush is to love Rush. I have been listening to him since he first came on the air in NY. He is very informing and provocative. If you are a liberal you will hate him naturally. If you are a moderate democrate you will be amused by him. If you are a republican like me you will agree with him most of the time. If you are a conservative you will adore him. I hated him at first, but I took the Limbaugh challenge, that is, listened to his show for three days and then make your judgement. I would go crazy with all of the liberal media, hollywood crap out there if it wasn't for Rush and his voice of reason. He merely echoes what we republicans believe. If you all don't like it - tough shit.

56. I happen to be a fan of Michael J. Fox and it is unfortunate that he has such a disease. But really what Rush Limbaughs comments are really just his opinions. He doesn't rule the government nor does he make decisions for us. Freedom of Speech is a great thing. We shouldn't take him so seriously with these comments. I hope one day we are able to find cures or a miracle drug to help people like Michael J. Fox. I don't wish Rush Limbaugh to die or anything but he is pretty stupid.

Why do you have to be in your mid 30's with education and money to have something worth saying. I am 40 with a phd, and I am worth at least a couple million. I have worked for every bit of it. But that does NOT mean anything I say means more than another person. ANYWAYS, this has nothing to do with age, education, or money. Its about what people think is "right" and having something to say about it. If you dont agree with it thats fine, but people DO NOT have to get so nasty. That helps no one! I feel sorry for you BlackMetal. You may be older with education and money, but age does NOT mean maturity. Maybe I am making a quick judgement but you might need to go to therapy. I have seen a 16 year old talk with more maturity than you.

58. I cannot fathom why Rush OxyMoron Limbaugh would find it appropriate to presume Michael J Fox was faking his Parkinson's disease. I think this clearly demonstrates how Rush's mind (or lack thereof!) works. What a despicable thing to say about anyone!

As for Stem Cell Research, I understand why there is opposition to it, but where is your opposition to the destruction of the same embryos when the parents decide they don't have use for those embryos? Why is that destruction not worth your protests? And if that is bad too, why don't you volunteer your uterus and home for all those embryos, "God" knows they need a good home.

I always laugh at the "slippery slope" warning that comes up in these discussions, such as what will happen to our society if stem cell research leads to cloning? Ethics and basic human nature will prevail, and to think otherwise demonstrates your lack of faith in humanity. Which is very odd for Conservatives, who typically claim to be religious, love all mankind and such and such. Yeah it's funny to try to reconcile all that.

60. Oh and one more thing.

I was making a comment on MY OWN BELIEFS when I was still in college. Sorry that was lost on you. Weren't we ALL Socialists once upon a time?

I know I was in my earlier years, in college I bought into all of it.

Again sorry it was lost on you, I guess I should have been MUCH more specific...
