212. Hey Eli, Check this out......I am a democrat, I think GW is a joke and OMG say it aint so I was a soldier for ten years and I did my time in Iraq. Serving your country and actually getting the benefits that you earned and that are rightfully yours once you sign the contract with the government is not something everyone has the guts to do....clearly. Just so that you know if you are a service member and you die on active duty your family receives $400,000 the going rate at the moment for your life. Most people join the military for something else besides the opportunity to kill something. Mostly to get their education paid for or to get their family out of poverty, debt, or worse. I served with people who had masters degrees but could not get a job after college and the student loans don't pay themselves off. So if your Navy buddies sit around and talk about going to school and getting a house its because that is one of the reasons they joined. Cut them some slack at least they can see a light at the end of their tunnel a light that they know at any moment could be stamped out by a bullet making contact with their body in the latest country that we decide to invade. Trust me the last thing you think about on the battlefield is the politics behind it all.

I do believe what you say, as do a few others, and I also believe that's the comment Kerry,was trying to make.... because that's how I took it, he would not insult the troops, even with a degree, some areas there are no jobs, and the benefits of the military..are pretty decent...and I agree, that they are not sitting around, thinking about politics, Kerry's comments or anything ...regarding ....they have more important things to worry about...

215. Hey home girl, thanks for the props! I have been reading some of these post and I had to say something because it seems that alot of people think if you serve in the military then you support with out question what GW does. I joined the service and I learned quickly that citizenship as you knew it before ends. I knew what I was doing and I joined of my own free will. I love my country and after serving and going to some really horrible places in my tenure I love it even more and so I cannot stand to see what is happeneing to it under the leadership of GW. When I was in the service the only way I could voice my disdain was to get out there and vote! I joined the Army and I experienced my share of convoy ambushes, RPG's and small arms attacks while in Iraq. So I think that if I am going to be put in that posistion the people who put me there better have a good F-ing plan for getting me and the rest of my buddies out. I think that if I have to follow the orders given to me with the outcome in some cases being death that I should be given the best leadership possible. That I should not be sent to war without a clear plan and based on lies and fabrications. This is not my demo ranting its the truth the report is available to everyone. There were no weapons of mass destruction. I followed the orders of those appointed over me as I swore I would but I feel like those appointed over me should know what the hell they are doing.

216. I too would like to know where this 93% of the military voted for GW. I was in the military at the time and I didnot vote for him and I know alot of others who did not as well. I guess the real question is dare I say it because I know I will get all kinds of FU'S and STFUps but how does anyone know what did or did not count during the election amid all of the controversy regarding the votes and chads and absentee ballots etc? BTW deployed military vote by absentee and who is to say that they were even counted at the time. I don't care if the president is progressive, republican, conservative, liberal, whatever...if the supreme court has to appoint you president because the election process was so screwed up there is a problem. One that is a whole lot bigger than your political stance something like the breakdown of, of the people, for the people, by the people.

It seems to me that everyone... think s that if you are pro-Bush than there is no way you could ever disagree with him and if you do, than you have to be anti-Bush all the way. There's no in between. 221. I will have to check out that site. I think what is being missed in the larger scheme of things is how divided this country has become. There is a definitive split and it is more profound than I think it ever has been in the past. 223. Well it seems like it appears that some people think it is ok for Joy to be snotty and rude but if elisabeth gives her the same treatment, she don't like as some of you. No matter who your chose to vote for...everybody has a right to state their believes but Joy doesn't think so. 224. After reading John's rant I realize that he never gave a solution to Iraq and terrorist. Your hero Bill Clinton gave North Korea it's nuclear reactors and thought they wouldn't make nuclear weapons, well they lied. You are right Clinton didn't go to war with any terrorist he just let them keep attacking and attacking, well I guest they figure 9-ll would be okay since Clinton never did a thing. But that should make you happy because he didn't go to war. But why would he. He had problems someother place.
