Ed Bradley Dies of Leukemia

Legendary CBS newsman Ed Bradley passed away earlier this morning at the age of 65.

Sources connected with CBS tell TMZ that several days ago, as a result of leukemia, doctors removed Bradley's spleen and subsequently his body shut down.

Bradley, who won 19 Emmys during his 25-year stint with "60 Minutes," had been ill for some time and underwent heart surgery about a year ago.

Bradley first joined the staff of "60 Minutes" in 1981 when Dan Rather left to replace Walter Cronkite as the anchor of the "CBS Morning News."

YOU ARE UNNECESSARILY TAKING UP SPACE ON THIS EARTH THAT SHOULD BE USED BY SOMEONE THAT IS HUMAN. SOMEONE EVIDENTLY LEFT YOUR CAGE DOOR OPEN AND YOU CAME OUT ON ALL FOURS. FOR HUMANITIES SAKE, HOPEFULLY YOU WILL BE RECAPTURED!

63. I was so sorry to hear this. He was such a fine reporter.....very dignified and classy, even though I am sure he had to suffer through a lot of discrimination during the early years of his journalism career. May God bless his soul and comfort his wife and CBS family.

64. for those of you wondering what you can do in the fight against leukemia (since it is a disease that can be beaten with a little help from our friends), get yourself tested (blood test, only a teaspoon) to see if you match any of the millions of people looking for bone marrow donors.

giving bone marrow (if you match someone) is literally as easy as lying on a hospital bed watching tv and having an IV hooked up to each of your arms. blood circulates out of your body through one arm, through a filter, and back into your body in the other arm. the filter collects bone marrow (which your body constantly resupplies). the bone marrow is then used to save someone elses life. you just saved a life. it's that easy. you sat on a bed for 4 hours watching TV.
