Kid Caught in Cruise Crossfire; Tom Dazed Too

Tom Cruise -- Click to WatchIt was a knock-down-drag-out day at the soccer field for Tom Cruise on Saturday, problem is -- the victim was an innocent toddler caught in Tom's paparazzi crush.

It went down moments after Tom put his soon-to-be wife, Katie Holmes, in a passionate liplock, then took off for the restroom -- as usual, a crash of photogs followed. As the star smiled and slowly paced toward the public toilets, a toddler wandered into the crush, and fell to the ground. "She's bleeding!" screamed the child's mother.

A shocked Cruise stared blankly before extending his arm in a vain attempt to console the kid with a backrub. The child's infuriated mother picked up the kid and began walking away, offering a few words of advice to the world's most famous actor: "You should live in Colorado, get away from them (the photogs)."

Moments later, Tom whispered into the ear of one of his "people," who took off after the Mom and her wailing tot.

After the drama, Tom finally made it to the restroom. Mission accomplished.

61. Note to Kate ~~~

That still doesn't excuse someone from their own actions. Period. I have found myself in the presence of celebrities on more than one occasion -- my daughter went to school with (and competed in a scholarship pageant against) Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood live just a few miles up the road from me and are quite out and about in the community going to soccer games, etc. -- and I have yet to loose control of the common sense God gave me *LOL*

Note to all of the others and you know who you are (i.e., if the shoe fits...) ~~~

It's obvious by the comments posted here that the majority of the people here are very much willing to shift the blame as opposed to taking responsibility for their own actions. I shudder to think what life would be like if any of you (the ones who are so busy passing that buck) had to accept responsibility for your own actions. The world would come crashing down around your ears, that's for sure.

For what it's worth, a simple (and polite) request for an autograph and/or photograph will go a long way.

62. As a mom I can say this, I don't care if it was Tom, Brad, Angie, the Paps or the Pope! If someone caused my kid to fall down or knocked them down and my kid was BLEEDING, all hell would break lose right then and there. I understand that these ppl are making a living, but they need some control. I am sure whoever did it did not intend to do it. I would have grabbed my kid, told Tom to hold her for a second and It would have been on!
Forget suing. Take a chunk out of his A$$ and he will watch it the next time he runs over a child for a buck or 2.

63. It's obvious the woman was angry at the photogs who in my opinion are way out of control. I mean what is so earth shattering about a man attending his child's soccer game that they had to crowd around and constantly take pictures like that? Someone is going to get seriously injured in the very near future with the stalkarazzi. Some papparazzi are fine and respectful but there are others that are just nuts about it. The photographer who hit the child never stopped taking photos to see if they child was okay or anything. Wasn't Princess Di's death enough or do others have to go the same route for some stipulations against these people?

64. SUE SUE SUE their asses. The photogs should be extra careful when kids are around. Losers no good journalist want-a-bes. Next time I went to soccer game I'd carry pepper spray.

65. Was the kid really bleeding or was this just the mother's audition for that dramatic role that will some day score her Oscar Gold? Either that, or I smell 'lawsuit'.

66. I knew I couldn't have been the only person that thought that lady was acting wierd-a little too dramatic. Then again I don't know how I'd react if a photographer accidentally knocked my toddler down and she started screaming and bleeding. But I wouldn't be too suprised if she's after a big lawsuit from gazillionaire Tom. That's probably why he looked so stunned- he was thinking, "Uh, oh. Lawsuit." She'll probably claim that Tom's "people" should have known that the interest in him would create a frenzy and that they were negligent for not "securing" the public area or something. I havn't been the biggest fan of Tom Cruise, but good luck, Tom. It looks like you might have to deal with a lawsuit from a crazy lady. And right before his wedding. That's the last thing he wants to think about right now, I'm sure. An impending lawsuit from some wierdo, if that is in fact the case.

67. #1. Tom Cruise really isn't a bad guy...just different from you and me just like I'm different from everyone else.
#2. He was actually showing real emotion on Oprah??? Come on, how would you be feeling if you were getting laid by a great looking woman 16 years younger than you?? (or for that matter if you were a woman getting it from a guy 16 years younger than you??) BTW...seems to be the older women that always have problems with this behavior!
#3. There are numerous pictures of Cruise with his kids...never see Nichole with them though since she's been shacked up with Urban...hmmmmm.
#4. Scientology = weird but who am I to judge Catholic = judge but that's not so weird...seems to be a lot of that here. If you haven't been married in the catholic church then you haven't been married in the eyes of the big guy...legally yes just not morraly (at least to the catholic church).
#5. There are people getting killed in Iraq and Afganistan...let's all get real.

68. Did you see the video of Katie's trip to and from the soccer field that was posted a few weeks ago? She got out of the car and smiled and walked to the soccer field as about FIFTY photographers were flashing shots of her. I'm going to disagree and say some of this is Tom's fault. He's at the soccer field and attracts a great deal of attention. Whether it's wanted or unwanted on his part it's certainly disruptive to those around him. If you've ever been to a kid's soccer game, they're generally very relaxing and family oriented where kids can safely run around. Tom being there is selfish and disruptive and I don't blame the woman at all for blaming him. I'm sure no one wants him there.

69. It's too bad Tommy Mapother feels he has to use children's soccer games as photo ops -- grabbing and tonguing and grappling with Katie every other minute. No other soccer parents I know of do that during the games. Just sit there and cheer or encourage THE KIDS, for pity's sake! It's about them, not you --

70. Scientology is an arrogant, ultra-secretive, aggressive, elitist, money hungry cult. Period.
"Mainstream" religions (Christianity, Islam, etc.) have gotten way off course and lost the true meaning of what God and God's various prophets are/were about (pure love). So maybe they're just as bad as Scientology.
Tom Cruise may not be a jerk, but he acted like a jerk when he demanded that there's no such thing as mental illness (a Scientology lie) and unfairly criticized Brooke Shields.

71. Ya'll need to pay better attention.

She wasn't angry or yelling at Tom. If u could hear, then u could hear her saying to Tom that she is sorry that he and his kids has to put up with this everyday and calling the photogs sick , "You GUYS are sick." She wasn't angry at Tom. And if u notice she was close by when the incident happen, it wasn't like she was letting her kid wonder around unwatched. If u were a parent and that was your kid, i bet your reaction would be the same if not worse.

Pay more attention.

72. The woman was saying she feels sorry for Tom having to put up with the photogs. He can't stop living his life and not go to his kid's soccer games simply because photogs take unfair advantage of their right to be in a public place and take photographs of a public figure. What is Tom supposed to do? Stay in his house and never go out? That's nuts!!

As most parents have experienced, a toddler is top heavy and when their face or head hits the pavement, it can cause a lot of bleeding and damage. The Photog that knocked the kid down should be sued for assault on a minor.

Unfortunately losing lots of money is the only way these photogs learn to show some respect for others and their surroundings. Photogs should not be allowed within 100 yards of children who are not public figures.

73. And there you have it, word of advise for the lady, SUE THE PANTS OFF OF THE PAPARAZZI WHO DID IT! Heck they press charges when they get too close to someone and get pushed out of the way, why not her, the paparazzi are way to protected here, they should have laws against them going to public places like this and endangering kids for crying out loud. Good thing that wasn't my child with me around, I would've pushed his face in that tree.

I've seen some videos of Tom asking them over and over to be carefull, and they never listen always there to get THE shot.. FOr chrsit sake, the guy is going to see a little league game, let him be, leave the kids alone.

What's so important to get THE shot when he's just with his kids enjoying some time with his family.

Oh, and who cares if he's in scientology or whatever else, I thought that if you told a jewish person that he was a jew then it's considered rascist, why is it different for them? What the heck does it matter what he is? If he does a crappy movie, I won't see it, if he does a good movie, I'll go and see it I don't care about his religion, as long as he's not sleeping with young children like all those people that live in that god forsaken town in Ohio or Iowa (Just can't remember were the fuck it is..)

74. sue sue sue...that's all americans ever think about doing...that and over-medicating their children of ADD...
In japan, litigation is seen as a course of action of last resort. We usually work things out because of mutual respect and a general feeling of concern and responsibility.

The woman probably shouldn't have been crowding around , trying to catch a glimpse of "Tomkat"...they were moving at a snail's pace...

but then agaain..this is news in the good ol' USA.

75.
If you check here, it looks like that little girl tripped on her mom's foot while she was too busy staring at Tom Cruise, and not watching her kid. no one bumped into the little girl-- it was just her mom's foot in the way as the little girl was walking.
