Felicity Adopts a Black ... Puppy

Felicity Huffman's adoption of a black lab went a little smoother than Madonna's controversial Malawian baby purchase adoption.

On Friday, the "Desperate Housewives" star picked up a pup at an L.A. humane organization as an early holiday gift for her daughters, proving that not all celebrity adoptions require a trip to the Third World and an appearance on Oprah!

16. I believe some of You have taken this too far- it's not about being freaking black or slaves. Although that's what you say. Read the article for what it is and put up your "race " card.

17. Okay, I wasn't going to say anything and I realize I am commenting on a different post but reading the "racist" comments on this post set me off. I was originally going to post this under the racial comment Queen Latifah's friend made, but I'll put it under this since it seems more appropriate. Why is it that when a black person makes any type of negative comment about a white person and is not considered a "racial" comment. The minute a white person says or writes anything negative about a black person, or for goodness sake now it's a black dog, it is a huge racial controversy? Please someone tell me why that is.

18. That's it for me and TMZ, I will NEVER visit your site again. Yes racism is alive and well in America. Your headline is living proof of that. The pause after the word "black:" is utterly despicable! I hope Keith makes you the Worst Person in the World."

Posted at 5:10PM on Nov 14th 2006 by TMZ is as racist as can be

19. PUPPIES ARE BETTER THAN PEOPLE.

20. SHUT UP YOUR WHINING. IT'S NOT OFFENSIVE. IF IT WAS A WHITE DOG IT WOULDN'T OFFEND WHITE PEOPLE.
AND YES PEOPLE WERE RACIST ABOUT MADONNA'S BABY, BUT THIS ISN'T. STFU.

21. Usually you have the best breaking stories out there. But not only is this a non-story, you have actually equated an African child with a black puppy. This is absolutely shameful reporting, as well as being insulting to Africans, African Americans, and readers of all persuasions. Somehow I don't think even Felicity Huffman will be pleased with the publicity... Sooo not funny, TMZ.

22. # 11 what are you talking about? David was not taken from his family he was dropped of at 2 mon. by his father who never even come to see him at all!

23. That is the worst comparison that I have every read and you really should be ashamed that you could even print something that degrading on you website. That is just unbelievable. It should be retracted and someone should apologize for such a ugly comment. You should not be comparing that child to a dog. Just unbelievable.

24. #23 IT'S NOT OFFENSIVE. PUPPIES ARE THE BEST! GET OFF IT.

25. Really, is it necessary to compare a child to a dog? That is absolutely disgusting and racist. And no, we will not get over it when people are always trying to degrade black people to the lowest denominator. Yes, Madonna's adoption was handled sloppily, but the vitriol that she has received has been nothing but YT's racism slipping out as usual. We're all doomed as a nation since we all hate each other so much.

26. OKAY... that does it for me. Quite a few females at work (a large financial corporation) get together at lunch to read the "rags" on TMZ - that is, until today. I cannot believe that you people are comparing a black child to a black dog. Isn't this 2006????? Just call me MONKEY!

27. I wish racist posts like this surprised me but they are coming all too common especially with the Internet giving people the anonymity to say whatever hateful, ignorant statements they want without facing consequences. TMZ is now just another site I'll be deleting from my bookmarks due to this article. Black people are human and should not be compared to an animal, plain and simple! Felicity Huffman adopting a dog has no correlation what so ever to Madonna's adoption of a child and this story shows a seriously poor lack of judgement on the part of the author as well as the site that allows this to the published.

#17 I don't understand how you can ask that generalized question stereotyping a whole race of people and expect a serious response. Not to attack you but this type of question is a pet peeve of mine. Please understand that black people like any other group of people are comprised of many individuals! We are all different, we have different opinions, we come from different upbrings/backgrounds. I'm so tired of having people ask general "black people" questions, no one person can speak for an entire race. No one person can be the spokesperson for blacks (or any other group)!

I have a severe problem with people who try and lump all people of one nationality/color/race/etc. into one mold. Try seeing people as what they are, unique and individual HUMAN BEINGS instead of as some alien, outside group. If you don't argree with something a black person or even several black people have commented please realize that is their opinion and they don't speak for all of us. Take it up with that person. I would never look to a random white person to speak for white people everywhere!

28. I 'm happy to know I'm not crazy. This was offensive, racist and totaly disgusting.

Posted at 4:07AM on Nov 15th 2006 by Brenda

29. Okay, is it me or do the offended posters all sound the same? You know it wasn't racist, so why don't you all stop acting like you're so much more enlightened
and realize it wasn't comparing a child to a dog. I suppose using the term "adoption" whether it is for a human or a dog is offensive to you ( you one person).

30. Yay. I'm glad a cute puppy gets a home. What a sweet thing!
