181. FOR THE LIFE OF ME, I COULD NEVER UNDERSTAND HOW SO MANY PEOPLE GO NUTS OVER HIM AND BRAD PITT. THEY ARE AVERAGE AT BEST.. GIVE ME REAL MEN LIKE SEAN CONNERY, GENE HACKMAN AND GUYS AND GUYS LIKE THAT. DAMN GOOD ACTORS. AND CERTAINLY NOT BAD TO LOOK AT SEAN CONNERY WILL BE SEXY WHEN HE NINETY YEARS OLD. THERE IS SUBSTANCE THERE. HE LOOKS LIKE HE HAS LIVED A LITTLE AND HAS SOMETHING TO SAY, WHICH I CANNOT SEE IN CRUISE OR PITT.

183. Lovely how Oprah being snubbed has degenerated down to a race war. As much as we try to ignore it or believe we're past it, racial lines still divide us.

I don't consider Oprah a racist but I DO consider her a person to pull the race card if she doesn't get her way (like the well-publicized example of her not being let into a store 15 minutes after it clsed). It's not just her, I've seen people of all races do this. It's a ridiculous card to pull under circumstances where you're obviously wrong and Oprah looked stupid and ignorant in doing so.

I'm not a big Oprah fan. Not for any personal reason, but rather because she or anything she does/hawks/sells doesn't appeal to me nor do I find anything she does entertaining. She also seems phony or fake in everything she says or does. Nothing personal or racial, just a personal preference.

And a previous post (I've spent too much time reading through most of these posts already so I'm not going to look back at them) stated that Opran holds the key to millions of women and their demographic and that Tom Cruise will suffer because of it.

Interesting, yet flawed. Most of Tom Cruise's movies are geared toward the 18-35 male demographic, which I'm sure is very little of Oprah's overall reach. It's also the demographic that couldn't care less about what he did on Oprah, watches SportsCenter instead of Extra or any of those other shows, use celebrity news for joke fodder, and overall generally don't let a celebrity's personal life affect their decision on whether to see a movie or not.

The only thing that demographic really reacts negatively to is when a celebrity is overpublicized, which is what Cruise was last summer. The media made a big deal of his histrionics on a show that mostly women watch who wouldn't have seen MI3 anyway and he was constantly crammed down the American public's throats on just about every channel you turned to.

Last year's release of MI3 was in line with his more recent box office numbers -- raking in somewhere around $400 million worldwide. Only one of his last five movies surprassed $500 million worldwide (War of the Worlds) and only one under $200 million (Collateral).

MI3 isn't the kind of movie the Oprah demographic would see. If the box office was adversely affected by any kind of publicity in the demographic the movie was aimed for (the 18-35 male demographic and if you believe differently, you're kidding yourself), it was because Cruise was overpublicized by the media. Guys who intitially wanted to see the movie were so turned off by all the publicity that he got on their TVs inside the house that the last thing they wanted to see was Cruise's mug when they left the house.

It happens all the time. Any kind of publicity is good publicity -- unless it's overpublicity.

184. Well, I'm glad to know why Oprah didn't get invited to Tomcat wedding. If she spoke out of term about his couch-jumping incident..which I personally think was real and cute showing his happiness about being in love. Then its understandable he would perceive it as betrayal,she is queen of talk host and was interviewing to give a personal opinion about rather you think it was real or not I think is unprofessional. Yes he appologize to Brooke Shield and personally I think that was big of him he was wrong. Oprah must remember many take in consideration what she says. I don't know why the tabloids made a big deal out of it,calling his behavoral bizzare her statement could have been the ball that launch the taploids calling him cock-coo.

Now if she is a racist then I wouldn't blame Tom for not inviting her..his son look mix and his friends Brad and Angie kids are mix. As far as Katie letting Tom go C'mon!! thats the stupidiest thing I've read,Why would she do that? because he is giving her a fairy tale wedding. Like duh..if one can afford it why not? Its most women dream. The statement about Tom making a baby doesn't mean you a father. Tom has 2 other children with Nicole that they,and all other his friends even his ex-wife says he a good father to all of his children. So where is that foolish statement coming from? In response to 178 Oprah don't like white people? couldn't tell considering..when she gave the all those cars away its was mostly to white people,and when she gave those homes away for whatever reason again most of them were white. Her former boyfriend Stedman eventhrow African-American is a very light skinned brother with wavy hair. Ever see her in the audience when she ask question not sure if she still does that don't watch her show anymore but she's always hugging,and kissing the whites,literally.

191. A friend is somewhat who will stand by you yes, but they will also tell you the truth. Don't get it twisted. Oprah and Tom were not 'friends'. She needed ratings. He needed to promote his career and his movies and try to convince us (and himself) that he is an okay guy. He's not.

Katie Holmes' parents may not approve of Tom or their daughter's marriage, but money is the great compromiser. Even if she and Tom don't stay married, she still gets paid. Ain't that the American dream?
