Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes spent $2.5 million on their Italian wedding circus, but the official ceremony took place right in the U.S. of A.

TomKat's rep confirms that the couple actually tied the knot earlier in L.A., but the gaggle of Hollywood A-listers who flew halfway around the world didn't seem the least bit ticked. "I hope they remember this whole weekend," says former foe Brooke Shields. Hey, who could forget Victoria Beckham's hat?

Meanwhile, PEOPLE reports that Katie gave her new hubby a $23,000 watch as a wedding gift. Does this officially begin the countdown to splitsville?

Despite all the brouhaha about baby David joining her brood, Madonna's latest children's book is tanking.

"The English Roses: Too Good To Be True" has sold just 9,000 copies in four weeks, according to FOX News. That's a whole lot less than the first installment, which sold 350,000. It probably won't help sales that David's baby daddy just got married again, and his new bride is expecting. Could it be that the Material Girl already has another adoption lined up?

46. If Tom and Katie REALLY married in L.A. before heading to Italy, the Mayor of that small town would of said so. She was really open with thefact that they had not applied for the proper docs to have a civil ceremony. She would of said that they don't need to apply it has already been taken care of.

Besides that he would of had to have PROOF of they are already married in order for the cosmotogy ;) ceremony to take place.

47. Sister Vagina, you are so correct. There is a picture somewhere where is looks like her NOSE could poke his eyes out as the tip is almost exactly even with his EYEBALLS. Also when they do their red carpet swoon or whatever it looks like she is bracing him rather than vice versa.

50. People need to stop hating! How much Tom spends on his wedding,and rather they wed before the wedding or after is they business. He has entertain the world with his movies rather good or bad,and personally I think he is a good actor.

The fact is he work hard to be where he is he over came being dislexic and parents being divorce when he was 13. So what!! if he wants to have a fairy tale wedding. Why people always bring up who starving? The poor will be with up always,and thats in the bible!

Tom have gave to charities one has to do with children being handicap. If one hate another human because of what he has or not,and what his sexual orientation is..(which I don't believe he is gay,bisexual? if he is thats his business) or simply because he can afford things that most of us only dream of he earn it!

So he had a baby out of wedlock....big deal! he didn't claim to be a saint. At least he spending his earnings on what making him happy,and not abusing drugs or alcohol,and then so a high speed chase with polices and start talkinging racial slurrs toward another ethnic group. (speaking of Mel Gibson ).

The fact the most of our society in today world is having sex before marriage, and having babies at least the actors/actresses in Hollywood can afford to take care them. Not saying its morally right but its the real world...Its up to the parents to teach their children moral values and not what is going on in television. Tom made his way in the world, and work hard and earn the cost to be the boss!

Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cruise good luck, and have a blessful union.

58. I cannot help but think this was just one big sales junket of a weekend for Scientology. Have you ever seen such a missmash of "A-listers"?????? I am still, for the life of me, trying to figure out the connection of this group of "celebs" to each other! Makes no sense! I get Jada and Will...kind of...and those in the group who are professed Scientologists but the rest????? And, while I love Brooke Shields, I would have hoped she would have had more common sense than to get herself tied up with this mess! Of course, Brookie is one smart gal...maybe she thought an "all expenses paid weekend in Rome" was not such a bad deal and the joke was really on Tom! Cannot figure out what in the world all the celebs had to talk about???????? Wonder if the "recruiting" event had any impact on them! I certainly hope not!
