"Kramer's" Racist Tirade -- Caught on Tape

Michael Richards at the Laugh FactoryWARNING: WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO SEE IS PROFANE AND RACIAL

Michael Richards exploded in anger as he performed at a famous L.A. comedy club last Friday, hurling racial epithets that left the crowd gasping, and TMZ has obtained exclusive video of the ugly incident.

Richards, who played the wacky Cosmo Kramer on the hit TV show "Seinfeld," appeared onstage at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood. Kyle Doss, an African-American, told TMZ he and some friends were in the cheap seats and he was playfully heckling Richards when suddenly, the comedian lost it.

The camera started rolling just as Richards began his attack, screaming at one of the men, "Fifty years ago we'd have you upside down with a f***ing fork up your ass."

Richards continued, "You can talk, you can talk, you're brave now motherf**ker. Throw his ass out. He's a nigger! He's a nigger! He's a nigger! A nigger, look, there's a nigger!"

The crowd is visibly and audibly confused and upset. Richards responds by saying, "They're going to arrest me for calling a black man a nigger."

One of the men who was the object of Richard's tirade was outraged, shouting back "That's un-f***ing called for, ain't necessary."

After the three-minute tirade, it appears the majority of the audience members got up and left in disgust.

Attempts to reach Richards' reps were unsuccessful.

47. Does anyone else find it disturbing that about 1/3 of the comments here are in support of Richards' racist rant?

I guess the comment sections on blogs are a good way expose the uneducated masses. They come here with their bad grammar and their poor critical reasoning, thinking they have an important epiphany to share: Hey everybody, Michael Richards calling an audience member a n*gger is just like Chris Rock using the word "cracker" -- so there!

Please, what a bunch of hick morons!

I can only repeat what I said before: As far as racial epithets go, "n*gger" has NO EQUIVALENT. That's just the reality of the world we live in. Pick up a history book if you want to discover why.

Also, Richards was NOT doing comedy. He was being abusive, plain and simple.

I agree with #38. All those who defend Richards will be forced to eat their words when he apologizes for his clearly inappropriate remarks. Unless they're complete idiots....I wouldn't put it past them.

49. He's suppose to be a professional comedian. People will heckle. He should be way above this. Not being on a hit show must have broken him down.

50. Hundreds picketed outside the National Broadcasting Corp. studios here May 14 to protest the racist depiction of Puerto Ricans on the May 7 episode of "Seinfeld." This Day of Outrage demonstration coincided with the airing of the situation comedy's mega-media-hyped final episode.

Protests were also held in San Francisco, Philadelphia and Miami.

Viewers throughout the United States and Puerto Rico were outraged by the racist portrayals in the May 7 episode titled "The Puerto Rican Day Parade

52. When people make comments like that it is coming from a place inside them that they believe and feel...it's not just words.

53. I agree#40 & #43

I'd go so far as to call the "small minded" posters you are referring to as downright ignorant and uneducated and they really need to be ignored. Obviously their mentality is only as extensive as newborn ants...if that - and noone talks to ants.

Anyway, to get back to the intention of this so called "comedian's" comments, the intent of his words are further made known by incorporating the comments of "if it was 50 years ago you'd be hanging from a tree" Tthere's no way around this. This guys a racist.

54. I am outraged at all this emotional energy you people are wasting arguing over this issue! Why don't all of you throw yourselves into something worthwhile like writing letters to congressmen demanding more homeless shelters, feeding the hungery, caring for the elderly? I could care less what someone calls me...sticks and stones.

56. Alice (#13). You're obviously racist as well. Last time I checked, Chris Rock never talked about hanging a white person and/or sticking a fork in them. As a matter of fact, he or any other black comedian for that matter, has never went on stage ranting and raving about the abuse of white people. So you need to check yourself!

57. Want to know what really upsets me? When my son comes home to day from school he's going to see this all over the internet and he loves watching Seinfield as much as I do. As a mom I'm upset, and not just because I'm a black woman. I know Michael Richards is human and just an actor/ comedian but damn, what a disapointment.

58. I'm a black woman and I don't consider myself "african" american, I prefer just american I don't like titles that separate me from the rest of america. Ive never been to africa, and neither have my parents, or there parents. Apparently someone along the line came from there but I think it's safe to say after some ummm hundreds of years and some generations that we can accept that we're americans who gives a rat's butt how our ancestors got here, personally.

Also, there is a double standard with black comedians, where they ridicule white people. C hris Rock don't ridicule, he makes political commentary but there are others and I think once white americans speak up and say that they don't like it and they do feel it is unacceptable the black community will see this double standard for what it is and abandon it. As Martin Luther King said, injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere.

Although, I will say this. What richardson did wasn't what blk comedians do. He went on an extremely racist tirade and the backlash should come accordingly.

59. I agree with you 110% Ed.

He must harbor some deep, deep resentment for black celebrities that are obviously much, much more successful than he is. And I can't wait to see him apologize for what he said!
