People are so phoney. When Mel Gibson talked about poorl Jews, people said he was racist and wanted to boycott him. His comments about Jewish people were on every channel and people were sicken. Now, this Richards fellow talks about black people, so now people are saying give him a break. If it's not okay to take insults and fire them at Jewish people. Then, its not okay to fire insults at black people. To say what he did was okay and how much you support those comments, so how racist YOU really are. Just to may it clear, it's not okay to insult anyone no matter thier social status, economic background, size, race, color or creed they represent.

The sad truth of these sites is that intelligent people who can very easily see why what Michael Richards said is wrong are mostly not reading or bothering leaving comments.

I'm as white as it gets but I have no problem seeing the MAJOR difference between black people using the n word or calling white people crackers etc and what MR did. The big difference for all the people crying foul is that in the US the black population did not at any point in history ENSLAVE the white, hispanic, asian etc. populations. Nor did they ever lynch them, treat them as property within the law, rape them, deny them basic human rights and then for DECADES oppress them economically and politically to make sure they were poor and powerless.

I don't actually agree with black people using the n word. I think it's ugly and can't be reformed no matter who uses it. But I do know that when I as a woman chose to use the word bitch it's actually about taking back the power someone who would call me a bitch may have. It's about defusing a hateful word.

But I think many of the people reading these posts will never understand that, some because they chose not to, some because they refuse to get educated to the point they COULD get it.

It's a waste of time arguing with people like that.

Why do you care that he said Afro vs African-American?

Free your mind and the rest will follow. Stop worrying about what white people think or say. We are Americans and we have claim to this country just like everyone else. So carpe diem and get a slice of the American dream.

Stop empowering whites by worrying what they say or think, but keep an eye on what they do.

I can not get over this angry rant. It is so shocking and I sat in disbelief as the rant continued. Most shocking to me is that everyone seems to be intently focused on the part where he refers to the black men in the audience as the "n word;" however, the most shocking portion of the comment is at the begining where he makes reference to lynching and sticking forks up their asses. To reference such a horrific practice of white lynch mobs beating, burning, castrating, and murdering primarily black men is beyond foul. He is a racist and needs to own up to his behavior in an honest and responsible way.

Coming from the south, I was shocked by this because in liberal California I assumed that people were of a more advanced mindset when it came to race relations. However, since I have been here I have been called a nigger (only time in my life) and now this major incident. I suppose that the major difference between the South and California is that the south is at least honest about they way they feel and have treated blacks.
