Leno Takes His Swings at Michael Richards

Jay LenoA day after Michael Richards apologized on "The Late Show with David Letterman," Jay Leno took to "The Tonight Show" stage and delivered a few zingers at the expense of the man we know as "Kramer."

"I had a horrible gig last night," Leno began. "I had to follow Michael Richards at The Laugh Factory."

But Leno didn't stop there. He continued, "As you know, Michael Richards said some very offensive things at a comedy club the other night in Hollywood. People were booing, yelling, some got up and walked out. Of course, people waiting outside for the second show had no idea what was going on. They just assumed Carrot Top was on stage."

Check out Leno's jokes for yourself on tonight's episode of "The Tonight Show."

17. wow, i see abunch of racists are posting, so we can all just skip your messages because they simply come from a place of ignorance. As for Leno, i think he is not funny at all, and he, along with other comedians need ethical limitations to their material. As for richards, i don't believe hes a racist, but he did fuck up big time. The word needs to disapear because it has a double standard. black people shouldnt be offended by it, if they constantly throw it around like it means nothing. At the same time, richards should kno better, even if he was extremely mad. I feel for the audience but richards as well. As for jay leno...i think he's a dickhead with horrible jokes.

18. I think that what Richards said was something to take real notice of. People should realize the repercussions of their action and not be surprised when someone lashes back at their cruel or insulting comments. I realize that what Richards said, out of the situation, was pretty bad. However, due to the comments and coaxing that the audience member did, I think that it’s not only acceptable, but almost called for. Why is it that people that have no status or celebrity position, can say anything, but if your noticed by the masses, that you can't get angry, or have a bad day, or stand up for yourself when confronted with insult. Go Richards, I think that he’s funny as hell and hold no bad blood at all from this event. I think that audiences everywhere should beware that if you ask for it, you very well may get it!

20. The only thing Richards could do now to redeem himself, is to make a sex tape with a pig or elephant, and pretend he is with Paris or Britany-- the decadent public will go wild for that,!!!!

24. I normally just read blogs without giving my opinion, but this time I could not resist. First of all Jim Crow you really need to find something more to do with your time. Maybe if you were more productive you would not have time to share your ignorant comments so many times. I really pity people like you. As for "Kramer" I agree with the person that said he has the right to defend himself when he's being insulted, however not to the expense of an entire race of people. He could have made personal attacks on the guys clothes, hair, he could have even made jokes on the man's parents. But when he made the refrence to lynching and called him a n***** he attacked all Black Americans. What he said was very offensive and uncalled for.

25. I can't believe we have soldiers dying in Iraq, politicians stealing what belongs to the public, television gettier crappier every season and we are making a national fuss about something that happened in a COMEDY CLUB of all places!!

It isn't like he was at the podium in the WHITE house or something...oh crap, White House is racist isn't it.....nevermind :-)

26. Randy you are right.. Chris Rock does say nigger quite a bit and I further agree that it can't be both ways, but what do you mean by "you people"? Do you mean black people or niggers? As a black american I always tell other black americans that they should not use that word becuase when its used by white people we have the uproar that we see now. You often hear people say the word nigger has no power but it does and it should be eliminated from our language.

27. Ms. Willams,
I find it a nice respite from my endevors on the issue of globalization, and my work on developing nations ability to use thier competive advantage in the labor market. It gets a little dry, so I like to spice things up with some good ol fashion domestic verbal judo....

Thanking you in advance,
Jim Crow

P.S. Dont let the good looks fool you, I'm real smart too. jc

28. Just a couple of things...
The guy's name is MICHAEL RICHARDS. "Kramer" was a chartacter that MICHAEL RICHARDS played on television. One of the first things a professional stand-up learns to do is put hecklers in their place; MICHAEL RICHARDS is NOT a stand -up comedian. He is (was) an ACTOR who played a very comedic role on a Situational Comedy television show.
I hope he still has some of that Seinfield money because he will be hard pressed to find a job in the business called "Show", ever again. Let's review:
MICHAEL RICHARDS=ACTOR
COSMO KRAMER=CHARACTER
Calling "Afro-American's' 'NIGGERS", in a comedy club=CAREER SUICIDE, but priceless taken in context.
I hope that is clear to all!
