Leno Takes His Swings at Michael Richards

Jay LenoA day after Michael Richards apologized on "The Late Show with David Letterman," Jay Leno took to "The Tonight Show" stage and delivered a few zingers at the expense of the man we know as "Kramer."

"I had a horrible gig last night," Leno began. "I had to follow Michael Richards at The Laugh Factory."

But Leno didn't stop there. He continued, "As you know, Michael Richards said some very offensive things at a comedy club the other night in Hollywood. People were booing, yelling, some got up and walked out. Of course, people waiting outside for the second show had no idea what was going on. They just assumed Carrot Top was on stage."

Check out Leno's jokes for yourself on tonight's episode of "The Tonight Show."

61. Anyone who says, black comics say and its ok why the double standard, is an idiot! Richards said it in a negative context and it wasnt even part of his act, he used it as a blatent insult. What I find even more insulting is what he said before that “Fifty years ago, we’d have you upside down with a (expletive deleted) fork up your ass.” Ya thats really classy. Thats right out of the KKK handbook!

"I’m not a racist, That’s what’s so insane about this.”
pfff....Dont piss down my back and tell me its raining!

62. This is directed at the posters who keep insisting that it is all right for Michael Richards to call two black men niggers because, on the whole, black people regularly and routinuely refer to each other as niggers. What? No one I know, and that includes family, friends, work colleagues and casual acquaintances, would dream of using this word in conversation with others or to describe themselves. Yes, it is true that a few ignorant black comedians and rap stars persist in using this word, but the vast majority of black people in America, Europe, the Caribbean and the African continent are against the use of this revolting word by blacks and whites alike. How do I know this? I have travelled to and lived in countries in all four places.

If you agree with Michael Richards' sentiments, that blacks are niggers and should be lynched simply for telling a white comic that his act wasn't funny, take off your white hoods and have the courage to say so, but don't hide behind the ridiculous excuse Michael Richards was just using words that within the black community are ordinary and commonplace. That's about as stupid and ignorant as claiming that he isn't a racist.

By the way had Michael Richards abused those men in the UK, another predominately white country, he would have been arrested under the 1976 Race Relations Act and charged with racial abuse and promoting racial hatred. Maybe we should be asking ourselves why those laws aren't in place in the US.

63. All of the poster who feel it is okay to desirespect someone by being racist and bigoted will never understand why those who are enraged over the use of the "N" word and the slavery statements Michael Richards made, because they agree with the comments. For those people who keep saying that "Black" people routinely refer to themselves and others and "NIGGERS" are making a false statement. A nigger and a Nigga are two different things, though both are demeaning and should never be used.

Everyone who is able to voice their opinion without being demeaning and bigoted are to be commended, and are greatly appreciated by this poster.

64. Leno is not one to talk he says plenty of racial jokes but since it comes off as just that nobody says anything. He makes a living by telling corny jokes and putting people down, Conan I can't wait to see you take over late night just make sure you bring max and the boys!!!

65. In response to the responses of my post few hours ago. It is so funny how all whites automatically assume that I am an uneducated black man who hung out at corners and sold drugs instead of going to school to better myself. However, the contrary is true in the fact that I grew up in a upper middle class home in Farmington Hills, Mi and a son of a doctor who has a practice in inner city Detroit. I also am an alumnus from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor Degree of Science and with an Associtate Degree PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant). I love how all "euro americans" think that they are so elite and intellectually superior when in fact I make more money and more educated then most of the posters on here guaranteed. I by nature am not a racist but when the "master race" lol starts uttering racial slurs and making ridiculous assumptions about someone or a people group they know nothing about I must respond with fire. My so called girlfriend or better yet fuck toy is white and I love how she slobbers all over my big black dick. I guess whites are superior in something, cocksucking. Lmao, you fucking crackers. I'm out.

66. ATTENTION ALL HOLLYWOOD PRODUCERS

Can someone please make a movie about and idiot comedian, that makes insensitive comments while doing stand-up about a race of people. The movie should focus on how the comedian becomes a financial liability in Hollywood. As the movie progresses, the comedian's physical features show slowly turn into the race of people that he offended, as he moves in a downward spiral toward skid-row! Now there's an awesome movie!

67. the person on the "tonight show", is so NOT funny. i do not, nor will i ever watch the show - the only first hand knowledge i have of the person are clips i see on other recap shows. i agree w/#15 - he stole most of his stuff from letterman......stuff letterman was doing 20 years ago - letterman is so far above the other person. what a douche bag he is - dave cracked on richards - dave is FUNNY & clever - something that other person will never be. richards was wrong in what he did - let's get over it already.

68. Curiosity Killed.....
I agree with you. I don't and won't even read a post past the first derogatory statement or the obligatory curse word, because I realize it’s been written by someone that can't express themselves using proper communication skills. And I could care less if people misspell something or have a lapse in grammar use when it’s a heated discussion, I understand. But to just start lobbing out insults and ignorant remarks. Well, it turns one off of reading any further post from that user.

70. One thing everyone should know is that Michael Richards was NOT heckled that night!! Michael Richards is trying to justify his actions. PEOPLE in the Balcony were talking. There were white, black, and latino people in that section and Michael Richards singled them out. Period. The TRUTH is Michael wasn't doing well, the crowd was very talkative up stairs and down stairs and he snapped. Before Michael even went on stage, the first two comedians were commenting on how chatty the audience was. Plain and simple Michael snapped and let his true colors show. He was not provoked in any manner. If you watch the footage again, he even says that people were talking while he was on stage. He was NOT heckled. All comments from the audience came after his attack. He would have been out of line even if he was heckled. Unfortunately I was there. I'm friends with the comedian that went on before him.

71. I can tell you right now that Michael Richards is only backpedaling and apologizing because of money. He is terrified his career is over, and it should be. As Larry King put it on his show a night or two later, "Watch your career end in "and he snaps his fingers....

Why anyone ever thought this guy was funny on Seinfeld or anywhere else, I do not know - I think America only has taste in it's mouth.
