Rosie Rips Kelly for "Homophobic" Remark

Rosie O'Donnell started a bitchfight with fellow morning-diva Kelly Ripa when she accused Ripa of making a "homophobic" remark.

The fracas started on "The View" when O'Donnell said that Ripa was "homophobic" for her scolding of Aiken when he co-hosted her show the other day and playfully put his hand over her mouth, prompting Ripa to snap, "I don't know where that hand has been." Rosie suggested that if Aiken had been a "straight guy, a cute guy" or, for instance, Mario Lopez, Ripa wouldn't have made the same remark. (Aiken, of course, has never said anything publicly about his sexuality.)

Ripa was incensed enough to call into the show immediately, firing back that Rosie's accusation was "outrageous" and "irresponsible" and that Ripa made the remark last Friday because it was "cold and flu season" and that Aiken had shaken the hands of the studio audience. Rosie wasn't buying it, and in acknowledging that she admires Ripa, said that "from where I sit" as an openly gay woman, Ripa's response was homophobic.

Kelly, for her part, continued to pile on Aiken as well, saying that his behavior on last week's episode was "disrespectful," including the fact that he never thanked her for the opportunity to co-host. Kelly and the ladies agreed on one thing: guest host Sherri Shepherd's assertion that Clay probably wouldn't have muzzled Regis like he did Kelly.

76. I call BULLSH*T on Kelly. When Howie Mandel cohosted, she mocked him for being so germ-concious and actually LICKED the tool he uses to open doors with. Did she know where that had been? Was she worried about germs and her children when she put that thing her mouth? No. And as for Clay Aiken never saying "thank you" I think there's a clip from The Insider floating around that shows she was lying about that too.

77. Rosie - You cannot be serious? Kelly Ripa is not a homophobe. You, however, are paranoid.

Here is a NEWSFLASH for ya - Not everything is about being gay.

Clay was rude - END OF STORY.

78. Rosie's using "The View " as a platform to harass and intimidate anyone who doesn't agree with heterophobic activism.

79. I agree with most of the comments about Rosie, I immediately sent an email to Barbara, first Oprah, then Kristy Alley now Kelly, who's next on her list.

80. As usual, everything is homophoebic or anit-gay with Rosie. I would like to see what would happen to a co-host who put his/her hand over Rosie's mouth to stop her from talking. She would have a lesbian fit.

Kelly handled the situation as best she could. I know I would not want someone covering my mouth, just for the germ factor. Kelly has 3 kids she has to worry about bringing home cold's flu's, and germs that could have been on his hand.

Plus the fact that the show is called Regis and Kelly, not Kelly and Clay. He was out of line and totally inappropriate.

Rosie, stop with you tirades about you poor homosexuals. You are who you are, that's the way you choose to live your life, but we, the audience get tired of you slamming it down our throats.

You just don't know when to keep you BIG MOUTH SHUT!

And beside, I did not know Clay came out of the closet, that is if he is even gay. Does Rosie know something we don't know?

81. Has anyone ever noticed how Ellen DeGeneres never seems to 'go there' with gay issues? Why can't Rosie take an example from her and quit being so hostile and perpetuating this division in people? And how can Kelly's comment be construed as HOMOPHOBIC when Clay hasn't even admitted he's gay? If anyone did a HUGE disservice to anyone, Rosie did it to Clay.

SHE is the one who started all of this - and she does it all the freaking time. Rosie needs to STOP it - she is the one filled with paranoia, rage, and anger - certainly not Kelly Ripa.

83. I agree with the majority of the comments above. Rosie took things way out of context thinking that Kelly's remark in any way was homophobic.

I certainly would not like someone putting their hand over my mouth like that. A large part of Kelly's charm on the show is her personality and opinions.

Clay Aiken being the guest host needed to show her respect.

84. I saw the show and from the beginning there was no chemistry between Clay and Kelly. You could tell that she was nervous and he is so new to hosting that he wasn't as smooth as a practiced interviewer/host. When I saw a quick pause and he should have asked a question, he didn't. Kelly immediately took over. It's live TV and Clay is not yet a pro at interviewing, but he's a terrific singer. Still, putting his hand on her mouth was a put-down. I wouldn't want ANYONE to put their hand on my mouth--YUK. The show was not good that day and it's too bad. Rosie was way off in calling Kelly a homophobe. Kelly doesn't deserve that. A person's sexuality doesn't matter if they put their hand on someone's mouth; it's just plain bad, bad, bad manners.

85. Kelly needs to get over herself. I agree with Rosie that comment had nothing to do with germs. Sorry but Kelly was the one who started the rudness on the show from the clip with her dressing up as Clay & Regis as Bo Bice and them kissing to her shoving a cat picture in his face. Awww what's the matter Kelly he to fast on the draw for you? You can't bully him like you do Regis? Get over yourself!

86. I agree with Rosie!!! Kelly is a big mouth who talks over everyone including Reege and her guests. Talk about respect Kelly, dont you think your guests would like to finish a sentence without you chiming in about yourself (yes, it was funny on SNL, but not any longer) . Ya know, we are sick of you!! She is so rude. I stopped watching the show because she is not the show, although she thinks she is. I say way to go Rosie!! If I could, I would have bitch slapped her to shut her big mouth for once!! Go Clay!

87. Rosie loves having her name out there. She reads TMZ hourly.

If TMZ failed to report this incident, Rosie would have been crushed.

88. Rosie is unbearable.

89. How the hell is "I don't know where your hands have been" a homophobic remark? If Clay were black would that have been considered a racist remark? Give me a break Rosie.

90. Rosie is absolutely ridiculous! She spends all her time slapping everyone's rists for not riding on her bus. Whether it be sexuality, politics, or anything for that matter. Why is she allowed to voice her opinion on all subjects-but, is entirely unaccepting of others?
I found her giving all Republications the middle finger the other night on Comic Relief the other night. She acts as if she she is so open minded. She really is just an angry woman. Her sense of humor(which made her famous in the first place) is over shadowed by her anger. Besides, Kelly Ripa was not making a homophobic comment. I watched that show. Let me tell you...Clay AIken was trying alittle too hard to be funny. He was pretty insulting, and dismissive the entire show. Rosie...no one cares if your gay. Get over it!
