Britney -- The Plot Thickens

She played it cool on stage, but Britney Spears was "pissed" at ABC over a derogatory sketch aimed at her estranged husband, Kevin Federline, during last night's "American Music Awards," a Britney rep tells TMZ.

E!'s Marc Malkin first reported Brit was upset, and now a rep for Brit tells TMZ, "She had no idea" that the skit would immediately precede her appearance. We're told Britney was "incredibly upset" and "inconsolable."

The sketch featured AMA host Jimmy Kimmel sealing a Federline look-a-like in a wooden crate and shipping him out to sea. Kimmel called K-Fed,"the world's first ever no-hit wonder." Less than five minutes later, Kimmel introduced Spears as a surprise presenter.

When contacted, a rep confirms to TMZ the idea for the skit was Kimmel's and he went forward with it because, "I knew they wouldn't mind because I know they both have great senses of humor."

32. Britney is playing stupid, c'mon ! Britney could have said something on stage she could have not walked out too and stated it was rude or what ever her feelings were but no she stood by it . She was smiling and all happy when she walked out if that had been me I would said something if I was that upset. The problem is that she is probably worried at how this makes her look I mean she is the one who twice had babies with this so called looser! HE WASN'T A LOOSER THEN SHE USED TO SAY! I THINK SHE CAUGHT REALITY OF THE SITUATION AFTER THE FACT AND REALIZED IT WAS NOT SMART. Degrading the father of her 3 children and ex- husband that she will always have ties with due to her kids. Its funny how he was gods gift before to her and now she hates him, Brit throw away the gum and stop being mad at kimmel you are the looser and next time RSVP to the show not so last minute and you will know all the skits! PS even with your lypo suction and fake boobs you still look like white trash and next year maybe they will pick you to throw in a crate in the river hopefully then we can call it even! LOL! Anixously waiting to see that!

35. #15 I understand your point. However, what Brit and K-Fed do and their trailer trash ways are between them...having this skit on an awards show, in my opinion is in bad taste. Half of what you read, you can't believe. This is a public divorce, and maybe some of this is up for public scrutiny, however, they are human beings with feelings. I know they are public figures, but still...this kind of stuff hurts feelings, and sadly or not, I just think it is mean.

It's not like it's an OJ situation...that is appropriate...this stuff with Brit is not.

38. I don't like Britney Spears at all but it is in extremely poor taste to have a comedy sketch like that right before she comes on stage. I'm sure its not easy to get divorced from the father of your two kids. She obviously loved him at some point, so I'm sure this is hard on her.

I've never been divorced and haven't been through an ugly breakup since high school, but it hurts and I would have been devasted if someone poked fun at my hardship

39. if i was going through a high profile devoce and this was to happen to me i would be mad too it looked like she was in on the skit because she walked out just after it happened... it looks shady regardless kfed deserves it he got alot and he still wants more he is sooo greedy he is a walking joke brit had nothing to do with it but it did burn him right after cus she looks good but how is going to look in court with all that stuff he is trying to black mail her with not cool

40. I'm confused with the reaction to the skit on the AMAs.

I'm wondering why this is all being taken so seriously as an offense to Federline. It was a joke. Both Britney and Kevin are public figures. They chose, and still choose, to be famous. They chose to have cameras in their home to film private moments for the world to see on MTV. They should expect some ribbing. It comes with the territory.

Did everyone forget that this divorce is allegedly a result of Britney catching Kevin in bed with another woman? Is that why you're defending Federline like he's the victim? No matter what anyone's opinion of Spears may be, she has reached a level of success that most of her peers can only dream about. Yet, K-Fed needed to cheat and lose his financial backer, his lifestyle, his family, his best chance for any kind of musical career. These are the reasons NOT to make a joke about him? These are the reasons to call Britney, the multi-millionaire, entertainer with a future, stupid and trailer-trash? C'mon!!!!

I would also be wary of ANY reporting of events surrounding these two for the forseeable future. Any statements made to the press have been suggested or cleared by attorneys. Wouldn't you suggest Britney act upset, so that she is not made to look like the bad guy, when it's time to go to court for custody of the children?

The writers of this joke, not necessarily Kimmel, know what works and they don't do anything on an awards show, on a major network, without bases being covered and rehearsals being done.

I would suspect Kevin is quite pleased with his "appearance" on the AMAs. He's getting more publicity and more reaction than Britney did introducing an award! There's no such thing as bad press, when your trying to make it in showbiz.

Britney looked absolutely stunning last night. 10x better than she did when she decided to have a night on the town with Paris. Just stop with the biased hate and give the woman some credit for once.

I think KIMMEL is a no talent hack and the timing of that joke right before BRIT was to hand out an award was tasteless and tacky. If he was so desperate for material he should of at least waited later in the program so BRIT didn't have to follow after his asinine joke about her ex and her personal life.
