Britney -- The Plot Thickens

She played it cool on stage, but Britney Spears was "pissed" at ABC over a derogatory sketch aimed at her estranged husband, Kevin Federline, during last night's "American Music Awards," a Britney rep tells TMZ.

E!'s Marc Malkin first reported Brit was upset, and now a rep for Brit tells TMZ, "She had no idea" that the skit would immediately precede her appearance. We're told Britney was "incredibly upset" and "inconsolable."

The sketch featured AMA host Jimmy Kimmel sealing a Federline look-a-like in a wooden crate and shipping him out to sea. Kimmel called K-Fed,"the world's first ever no-hit wonder." Less than five minutes later, Kimmel introduced Spears as a surprise presenter.

When contacted, a rep confirms to TMZ the idea for the skit was Kimmel's and he went forward with it because, "I knew they wouldn't mind because I know they both have great senses of humor."

What kills me is how everyone that keeps posting that Brittany was appalled by the skit, she made their relationship very public, how many interviews did she give to people magazine regarding their relationship??????????????????????// Brittany was not scheduled to appear on the show, the skit was already planned. It was a bit tacky that it was done before she was scheduled to present, the truht is that none of knows if she agreed to go on after the skit to prove to the world that she was SO over Kevin... WTF EVAH

64. I think that everyone who is bashing Britney is ridiculous. She was with k-fed because and one point she loved him. And she is not white trash its called being comfortable, just because she doesnt act like the "typical" hollywood glamour and glitz doesn't make her white trash its makes her normal. And as far as the skit goes it was funny if she didnt know aout it then I can see how she got so upset theres no nose up in the air there. Wouldn't you be upset? I bet you would.

65. Britney is her own worst enemy. She married a "boy" that left his pregnant girlfriend (and lied about it) to get with Britney's wallet. She then ran to the media every two seconds bragging about their "awesome" marriage. Sorry Britney but the truth hurts! Hopefully she will never get back with that hack.

67. I don't often get the time to read the comments, let alone the stories here. However, when I do I am always amazed at what people say. So to all of you jealous hatemongers out there I have a little message for you. Next time you take a shot at how Britney looks, I would like to send the fashion police to your home to check you out. Let's face it, most of you are uglier, poorer, more unhappy and just plain jealous of the fact the lady does indeed have talent. And to those of you who think you've never made a mistake that would humiliate you in how about we let the press start snooping into your past. There is an old saying "He who lives in a glass house shouldn't take a bath". The rest of world doesn't need to see your ugly arse. 68. That skit was the BEST part of the show!! I was laughing so goddamned hard after seeing that. Britney is just a dirty whore. Who cares what she thinks. All she cares about is leaving the kiddies at home so she can prance around town chain-smoking and clubbing with an equally dirty whore, Paris.

73. I don't even care for Brit or KFed but this was hurtfully ugly. I hope Jimmy remembers to have a great sense of humor when his life gets turned upside down and announced to the public. What do they say about paybacks?? I just hope if it ever happens to him, he can handle it with his great sense of humor.
