Andy Dick -- The New "Kramer"?

Andy DickAndy Dick hasn't learned anything from the Michael Richards incident.

According to sources, the hopped-up comedian hopped onstage Saturday at L.A.'s Improv comedy club and dropped the n-bomb on a room full of stunned clubgoers.

Andy was heckling comedian Ian Bagg during his routine, when Dick allegedly got out of his seat, jumped onstage and began joking with Bagg. The subject of Michael Richards came up, but the two comics quickly moved past it. As Dick exited the stage, he suddenly grabbed the mic and shouted at the crowd, "You're all a bunch of niggers!"

Calls to Dick's rep were not immediately returned.

UPDATE: TMZ has received a statement from The Improv acknowledging the incident: "The Improv is aware of Andy Dick's behavior on Saturday night. Our policy is that material deemed offensive by both famous and up and coming comedians is judged on a case by case basis. In this particular case, Mr. Dick was commenting on a current event. Was it intelligent? No. Was it funny? No. But was it racist? No. It was not directed at any audience member in particular and although it was in bad taste -- it was a comment on the Michael Richards fiasco."

76. Lenny Bruce was killing audiences with this kind of material more than forty years ago. So was Redd Fox.

Daniel Tosh (a white comic) does a killer bit where he uses a slur ironically, then follows it up with "No, no, no, it's okay because I'm black." There are dozens of comics on the scene right now whose entire ACTS are about racial stereotypes and slurs -- Lisa Lampinelli, Dave Chappele, Carlos Mencia, to name a few.

Racism is a very sensitive topic right now in America, because we all want to think we're done with it and we aren't. it's a source of guilt and shock. Of course comedians, who know audiences respond to shock, are going to use it in their acts. Most of the acts I've seen leave the audience shocked, but with a greater sense of brotherhood. We want to laugh about absurd stereotypes.

As for comics using these subjects against hecklers -- that's a (dark) grey area, but comics always use viscious counters against hecklers, impugning their humor, their mental abilities, their sexuality. The heckler generally gets it in whatever mode the comic deems would most scathing to the individual, and I see Richard's attack as a case of trying to hurt a guy so bad that he shuts up. Questions of racism are secondary and impossible to judge from context.

79. WHO IN THE HELL IS ANDY DICK? OBVIOUSLY HE MUST BE A NOBODY BECAUSE EVERYBODY THAT I KNOW HAS NEVER HEARD OF HIM. I GUESS THAT'S WHY HE'S WILLING TO PAY THE PRICE TO GET HIS NAME ON THE MAP. HE MUST REALLY BE DESPERATE FOR SOME NOTARIATY. AND IF HE THINKS HE WAS A HAS BEEN BEFORE, HE REALLY IS ONE NOW.

HOW LOW IS HE WILLING TO GO IN ORDER TO GET ONLY 15 MINUTES OF SHAME!!

THEY SHOULD HAVE NAMED HIM "ANDY GUMP".

80. Hilarious. People are two sensitive.
My favorite Star Trek episode:
Where Uhura meets Abe Lincoln and he calls her as a "negress," then apologizes.
Uhura said "Mr. President, this is the 23rd century. We're not afraid of words any more."
People use the suffering of their ancestors to gain some sort of power over others in this day and age. If you give that a word power then it will have power. Kinda intersting how comedy pokes fun of something and makes you think about it.

81. Easy, folks. It's called "satire." He was doing a send-up of Richard's tirade. By itself, it sounds rediculous. However, in the context of a performance that was making fun of Richards....it sounds like it might have been pretty darn funny. Everyone needs to lighten up a bit. I assure you there was no hate involved whatsoever.

82. Mr. Dick is an absolute loser that knows the medias addiction to ugly news.

On the other hand, New Yorks mayor was with a group protesting the shooting of a black man by police (both black and white police) and the protesters were calling themselves N*ggers and no one seemed to mind that - go figure!

85. Just once I'd like to see all this attention given to a black who makes racist comments about whites or hispanics. It never happens, because blacks aren't racists, right. Bull crap. It's just another in a loooooong line of politically correct double standards. It's sickening.

86. Andy Dick is getting more attention from the use of the word "N*gger" than anything funny he's had to say. You know where his place is? Rehab for Bisexual, BiPolar, double dunking red heads. I put him, Kathy Griffith and Carrot top in the same category.....strange redheads.

87. It's called freedom of speech - first addition to this long, old document called the constitution. You know, it allows for the free exchange of ideas and stuff. Give it a read sometime...then go listen to some Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor, Frank Zappa or George Carlin, or better yet read some George Orwell, and try to understand that words are simply that...words, and if you don't stop persecuting people over words we'll all end up like Lenny did - or more likely, you'll wake up one day and your free republic has become a prison with 40 foot tall walls running along the entire border -- all because you were so scared of words.

88. I wish I had a nickel every time someone was called a n*gger in NYC. In one day, I'd have more money than The Donald.

I noticed money is now involved with the Michael Richards incident....I guess we are now teaching our children that monay heals all wounds.

89. Andy Dick was trying to be funny, and he wasn't. This isn't the "new 'Kramer'", it's the "same 'Andy Dick'".

"Andy Dick's life-long goal goal is to give AIDS back to the monkeys." - Jeffrey Ross

Now THAT'S funny.
