What Garrison Did

Before Fatal Crash

12/5/2006 2:15 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Lane GarrisonTMZ has learned that "Prison Break" star Lane Garrison has hired powerhouse defense attorney Harland Braun in connection with last Saturday's fatal car accident.

Lane was at the wheel in his Land Rover on Saturday night when it crossed a median in Beverly Hills and crashed into a tree. A 17-year-old boy sitting in the backseat was killed and two 15-year-olds were injured.

Braun tells TMZ that Garrison had never met the three teenagers before the night of the accident. Braun says Garrison was at a local supermarket earlier in the evening when the trio recognized him in the checkout line and asked him if he wanted to go to a party. Braun says Garrison went to the party and had one drink. Braun says Garrison also had one margarita at a Mexican restaurant that night, but that was the extent of his alcohol consumption. Braun tells TMZ that as Garrison was leaving the party to meet a woman at his apartment, the three teens asked to accompany him. According to sources, the boy was an only child and was extremely well liked by his peers.

Braun says Garrison has no recollection of the accident, which Braun says rendered him unconscious. In fact, Braun claims Garrison's first memory was waking up at the Century City Hospital emergency room with a taxi coupon on his lap that had been given to him by hospital staff so he could get home. Braun says he was not told by hospital personnel that someone had died. He learned of the death later from a friend, Braun says, and was "totally despondent."

Braun says a sample of Garrison's blood was taken at the hospital, but it could take several weeks before the results are in. Braun says he doubts Garrison was intoxicated, but also says, "Who knows if someone put something in his drink at the party."

Braun also says Garrison's Land Rover had been experiencing alignment issues as of late and had been pulling to one side, and added that the SUV had brake problems. Braun says he is forwarding repair receipts to the police.

According to Braun, "Nobody knows what happened, it's a mystery."

To those who blame the parents: now, Garrison is an adult here, so you guys would rather overlook drunk celebrity trying to hook up with 15 y. olds, reckless driving, etc. etc, but blame parents who let their kids go to a party? You are pathetic. Parents were not there at the time. Garrison was. So what else?

Welll...I see that generation "Hitler Youth" is alive and well...to those born before 1980..you should understand that the comments made by these....generation Y bother..are never going to be ..reasonable..this is the hallmark of a generation with NO sense of morality, little or no real education, behaviour patterns based almost entirely on (male) confrontion and (female) manipulation..and of course a little of either characteristic thrown in to both genders for good measure..
These are the "kids" who are singlehandedly increasing insurance rates for everyone else with their hyper aggressive driving...who have enhanced percentages of Rape, Murder, Drug overdose..and on and on...and on...this is generation Hitler Youth...plain and simple...post amongst them at your own risk....live amongst them at your own risk......spit on them for fun...
And finally..this is the good news...as theya re SO low grade..in terms of any..power they may have in this world...well...they are FOOD for us X-Ers...and Baby-Boomers...yeah..that's right..FOOD..we can hire and fire them...and we decide what happens..as they are incapable of any organized activity...we have the power..they can and do..only...react...
Just spit on them and walk away..

Even just two drinks can get you DUI in California, depending on many factors such as weight, how much you ate, individual metabolism etc. Also breath tests are often given hours after a crash so they don't even register how drunk a driver was, only how drunk they might have been after home and asleep. Alcohol takes time to absorb and register. That is why DUI's are not accurate and not fair.

We're thinking it but I'm going to say (type) it - he picked up those boys hoping to have sex with one or more of them. He drank too much and crossed a median. The simplest answer is usually the one that is true. We may not want to jump to conclusions, but we're also not stupid either. What TV personality in his right mind would pick up a 3 teen-aged boys that he doesn't even know and go to a party with them? What grown man wants to go to a kid's party anyway, most especially if you're on TV! And now he can't remember anything - how convenient! Now he doesn't have to answer questions, he can just say "I don't remember". GET REAL! They must think we were born yesterday.

To: "I’m glad the rich prick is gone" (By the way nice name, you're not angry at the world are you? Get some counseling.)

Newsflash to you: The one thing you are correct about is that not every teenage kid drinks, however they still do lie to their parents and make mistakes, just as these kids may have done. So I don't think anyone should be judging anyone's parenting skills. Your parents for example I don’t judge, even though they have raised a very sad and angry person. Bless your parents for putting up with you. Also, if you read my post correctly no where in there did I use the word murder, I do realize what murder is, however if he lost control of his vehicle speeding or driving irrationally that is considered vehicular manslaughter. Please get your facts straight before you make a comment. In terms of schooling, I've gotten plenty of it, which is why I am intelligent human being and unlike you, do not feel the need to swear in every other sentence. My feeling is that you probably didn't like school nor do you like anyone around you today, which is why you feel the need to harass young kids who lost their friend. That pent up aggression you have because you had no friends in high school you are taking out on these poor kids and their friend. Please do us all a favor, grow up, and get over yourself. No one cares about you, which I know is why you are so angry. But a lot of people seemed to have cared about this kid, regardless of how this accident happened, because he was a kind person. That is the one thing you should try and take from this.

seems to me that niether side wants to admit any culpability. reading between the lines here is how I see it.

The teenagers ran into a tv star that either had a reputation for partying with teenagers or he was already tipsy and they asked him to go to a party. The intention of course was to have a legal adult to buy the booze and the bragging factor didnt hurt either.

The tv star was obviously drunk but they were out of booze so the teenagers who were at this party decide to send the drunk tv star to the store for more booze. The teenagers hop in the car to ensure he finds his drunk way back to the party.

The deceased was so intoxicated he didnt remember to put on his seatbelt. And do not tell me this kid wasnt drunk because if he was sober he wouldnt have been in the car.

They get the booze and head back and get into an accident. The kids get hurt, one dies, and the driver more than likely had an airbag that kept him alive.

Here is where it gets dicey.... Why was the actor not arrested? Why was he given a cab ticket and left on his own at the hospital?

I'm not a lawyer but is it manslaughter if the teenagers decide to have a intoxicated person drive them somewhere? If it isnt the drivers idea is he culpable?

The Actor needs to be punished for being dumb enough to party with teenagers but the kids both in the car and at the party are hardly innocent let alone angels. If everyone at the party supposedly saw them leave with the drunk actor then arent they just as responsible for the young mans death for not trying to stop them?

What did you guys do that was so awful that you now feel the need to support/protect this loser?

I don't care if the kids were drunken pole dancers. This guy's an adult, whether he had one drink or twenty, he ran into a tree. This resulted in the death of one of his passengers. It was negligent man slaughter and the guy should go to jail until they find a way to bring the kid back to life! I hope this guy runs into the next poster that try to defend this sh*t-head. Eat mental, then tell me how you feel about drunk drivers.
