Serena Full of (Pit) Bull

Serena WilliamsSerena Williams seems to be serving up a suspect story. She's denying the pit bull that bit a security guard in Palm Beach, FL was hers.

Security guard Michael Norton responded to a report Friday of a pit bull and a poodle on the loose in Palm Beach Gardens. According to the police report obtained by TMZ, Norton says when arrived on the scene, the poodle approached him as he was getting out of his vehicle. At that point, Norton says the pit bull immediately ran toward him and began barking, as if to protect the poodle. The pit bull then bit him in the left rear, but did not puncture the skin. Norton says in the report that his wallet, which was in his left pocket, protected him from injury.

The pit bull was not wearing a collar, but the poodle was. When checked, the information led police to Serena Williams. According to the police report, the tennis star said the pit bull did not belong to her, it belongs to a friend named David Tomossini. Now here's the rub...

When TMZ contacted Animal Care and Control in Palm Beach, a rep for the agency confirmed that Williams is the registered owner of two dogs; a Jack Russell terrier... and a pit bull. They also said there is no record of a David Tomossini owning any animals whatsoever.

The "fun facts" section of Serena's official website quotes the tennis ace: "I have two dogs "Jackie" a Jack Russell Terrier and "Bambi" a pit bull."

Now we're no line judge... but it seems to us that this one may not clear the net.

UPDATE: Serena's rep issued the following statement to TMZ. "Serena Williams gave her dog to a friend. Her statement to the police did not mean to absolve herself of any responsibilty. Serena is relieved that no one was injured in this incident and in the future, will make sure that when the dog visits, he will not get out."

16. Yo Karen QQ # 12. If you're calling me an idiot you'd better put that crack pipe down and pay attention.True, any animal, at times can be vicious, but the incidents of Pit Bull attacks happen over and over again, especially in the inner city ghettos. If you can't understand the distinction you had better buff up that IQ so that, at least, you'd qualify as a moron.

17. Dear TMZ,

Why do you continue to allow racist, idiots (Ellis) to post on your site? Ellis has got to be the most hateful poster on this site. Say something positive Ellis, it might heal your poor soul!

19. #18 "Hi my name is Jessica, and I am a Pit Bull owner" . How consoling. If ur dog took a bite out of me u better be saying "Hi my name is Jessica, and I am going to put this dog to sleep now."

22. I have had several Pit Bull Terriers and have had dogs all of my life growing up in the country. Over the years I have seen plenty of mean and aggressive animals who have been raised by mean and aggressive people. This does not mean that all Pit Bulls that are mean are raised by mean people. You also have a lot of uneducated people breeding not just this particular breed, but many others. Hmmmm what happens when you inbreed? Bad traits are magnified-- temperment, conformation, and other health issues as well. These are powerful animals and should be treated as such. ALL ANIMALS should be raised with a gentle, but firm hand. Mine never were and have not now EVER been beaten as it has never been needed for compliance. A word in the right tone can cause my dog to drop her tail between her legs and immeadiately comply. All animals can harm if handled poorly, but the larger the breed (or powerful) the more potential and more reason to handle an animal appropriately. And if you believe that all pit bulls are bad then you are most certainly under-educated. My 17 yr old daughter learned to stand by grabbing two handfuls of Gracie's skin and pulling up. This dog was very careful with her, never moving a muscle until my child was on both feet and began to move, and Gracie would move with her as she began to walk. Gracie was put down due to inoperable bone cancer after 13 of the most loving and loyal yrs. That dog was truly a gift from God for us--one of those once-in-a-lifetime pets. And no responsible (or loving) pet owner allows a pet to run loose anyway..............

23. # 22 Pittbulls are evil and they shouldn't exist. Speaking of uneducated how stupid could you be to let a child pull their body weight up by a dog's ears. You're lucky the child wasn't mauled no matter what the breed was. Many dogs are bred w/ certain traits that become inherent, genetic characteristics over generations. for pitbulls it is aggression and violence. preriod.

24. L. Pisaturo
Thank you for the intelligent post. I am very sorry for your lose, the good ones never seem to live long enough. I try not to get sucked into these discussions about dogs. Why? Because non-dog owners or those that do not know how to raise a dog feel like they know it all. When in reality they have no clue. The most important aspect is training, for both the dog and the dog's owner no matter what breed it is. It's taking responsibility for the dog and it's training. Having a proper environment so the dog(s) can not roam free. Serena is a negligent dog owner. It makes a huge difference in the dogs behavior and general disposition.

25. Brandon-- regarding your #12 comment: "Pitbulls have been bred to kill for centuries:"

Yes-- they have been bred to fight and kill OTHER DOGS. But they have also been bred to be gentle to humans so their owner could reach their hand into the ring and pull them out when needed. Anyone who knows anything about dog behavior knows that dog-dog aggression and dog-human aggression are two completely different things. Yes, pits can have aggressive tendancies toward other dogs because of their heritage, but they are rarely human aggressive and have in the past even been called "nanny dogs" (hello-- Petey from the Little Rascalls was a pit!) because of their extreme loyalty and tolerance to humans. Because they have a high pain threshold, they make great family pets, as they will let the child climb all over them, whereas a smaller more delicate dog will snap at children out of fear. The reason you hear about more pit bites is because of the media (case in point, TMZ). "Vicious Pit Bull Attacks Child" makes a much more interesting headline than if you substitute "Buddy the Family Dog." Blame media sensationalism.

26. People that think Pitbulls are all human aggresive are completely uneducated about the breed. While some are breed and trained to fight and attack, most make wonderful, loyal family pets. Generalizing a breed is ridiculous, nad I feel sorry for all of you that will never know the love of a pit bull. They truely are one of the most loving breeds of dogs.

27. All you pit bull haters can kiss my negroid a$$.I've owned Akiro for 7yrs without incident.I lived in a neighborhood where the majority of kids were from pre-k to teens for 6 1/2yrs.My backyard(where Kiro spent most of the day) was no more than15 yards from the playground. These kids would always run in and out of his space and there was never a problem. They came to pet him and went on about their business and he licked their hands in appreciation for the visit.I have pics of him,a lab and a cat eating out of the same bowl.Of the 5 pit bull owners in the majority white hood,I was the only black.Yes I had cornrows,i have tats,400 yrs is fact, and me and my wife have a six figure income. So Ellis, who is the uneducated retard. You see him everyday in your mirror.Sucks to be you.I take that back.....be nice......i'm sorry.Educate yourself, inbreed hillbillies don't have many friends.....just alot of relatives.Call the exterminator!!!99% of the time it's the owner.Pit bulls are a very intelligent breed of dog.The dog in the "Little Rascals " movie was a pit.

29. Hey Karl # 27. Since I retired ( with more money in the bank than you could count) I enjoy watching the "Judge" shows on TV. Judge Judy, Judge Mathias, Judge Alex, etc. How amazing it is to watch the Pit Bull owners, whose pooches would not hurt a fly, standing in the defendant's area being sued because their sweet little dogs mauled someone's cat to death or put a little kid into the hospital. Hard to imagine I know, but most have cornrows, gangsta tats, say dis for this, dat for that, munt for month. I'll keep an eye out for you as your slapped with a few thousand dollars of medical expenses when your beast reverts back to its basic instincts. Take a hike.
