Serena Full of (Pit) Bull

Serena WilliamsSerena Williams seems to be serving up a suspect story. She's denying the pit bull that bit a security guard in Palm Beach, FL was hers.

Security guard Michael Norton responded to a report Friday of a pit bull and a poodle on the loose in Palm Beach Gardens. According to the police report obtained by TMZ, Norton says when arrived on the scene, the poodle approached him as he was getting out of his vehicle. At that point, Norton says the pit bull immediately ran toward him and began barking, as if to protect the poodle. The pit bull then bit him in the left rear, but did not puncture the skin. Norton says in the report that his wallet, which was in his left pocket, protected him from injury.

The pit bull was not wearing a collar, but the poodle was. When checked, the information led police to Serena Williams. According to the police report, the tennis star said the pit bull did not belong to her, it belongs to a friend named David Tomossini. Now here's the rub...

When TMZ contacted Animal Care and Control in Palm Beach, a rep for the agency confirmed that Williams is the registered owner of two dogs; a Jack Russell terrier... and a pit bull. They also said there is no record of a David Tomossini owning any animals whatsoever.

The "fun facts" section of Serena's official website quotes the tennis ace: "I have two dogs "Jackie" a Jack Russell Terrier and "Bambi" a pit bull."

Now we're no line judge... but it seems to us that this one may not clear the net.

UPDATE: Serena's rep issued the following statement to TMZ. "Serena Williams gave her dog to a friend. Her statement to the police did not mean to absolve herself of any responsibilty. Serena is relieved that no one was injured in this incident and in the future, will make sure that when the dog visits, he will not get out."

16. Shoot the owner. Leave the dog alone! She shouldn't let her dogs run loose. I don't care if it's a Pit-bull or a Poodle. Left unattended either one can be big trouble. A Pomeranian killed a child because no one was watching it around the baby. Idiot. Everyone with any brain at all knows it's always the owner fault! She stone cold wrong on this one.

17. Pittbull's have been bred to kill for centuries. they should all be rounded up and exterminated-that's why they're banned in Denver. They should let the dog feast on Sarena's big ass so she can see how it feels.

18. Ellis and Hollywood Insider,

Why do you have to pull the race card? This article has nothing to do with that and by the way there are plenty of people of other races that own pit bulls. Your comments are totally irrelevant to the article or maybe you can't read. If you want to spout your racists and prejudice views do it at your next KKK rally, not here.

19. Get a clue people. Its not racist to own a pitbull. You aren't a bad person to own a pit. I work with dogs, and in my experience, I would rather put my face up to any pit then a Lab anyday. Its in the owner, not the breed. Yes there is some instinct involved, but get real everyone, that instinct is in anything with a bark and four canine teeth. To Ellis...who may possibly be completely lacking in common sense and intellect...SHUT-UP! You don't know every African American and therefore, I don't think you are an expert on them or their "stereotypes"

20. Yeah, they will obediently rip apart anything their owner tells them too. I'd take a retriever over that any day. Homeward bound!

21. Yo Karen QQ # 12. If you're calling me an idiot you'd better put that crack pipe down and pay attention.True, any animal, at times can be vicious, but the incidents of Pit Bull attacks happen over and over again, especially in the inner city ghettos. If you can't understand the distinction you had better buff up that IQ so that, at least, you'd qualify as a moron.

22. Dear TMZ,

Why do you continue to allow racist, idiots (Ellis) to post on your site? Ellis has got to be the most hateful poster on this site. Say something positive Ellis, it might heal your poor soul!

23. you know I was in shock at the audacity she had to lie about the dog being hers, but I am more shock at the ignorance I am seeing displayed by so many on this comment bored, it went from Serena Williams to lets bash Pit Bulls, and FYI Pit Bulls were not bred for killing, to the ignoramous that said that, and Brandon you sound like a modern day Hitler becuase rounding "undesirables" up and exterminating them is exactly what he did. Not that my response needs any justifying but my Oma is from Germany, in fact she is Jewish and it is ignorance like that that allowed the "master plan" be carried out. Let's focus on the real issue and the real issue is that Serena Williams may have lied about that Pit Bull belonging to her, not the dog. BTW when I was 10 I was attacked my a black signed while I was to my car after church, who was the vicious one in that situation?

Sincerely yours

24. #18 "Hi my name is Jessica, and I am a Pit Bull owner" . How consoling. If ur dog took a bite out of me u better be saying "Hi my name is Jessica, and I am going to put this dog to sleep now."

26. Actually Ellis I was calling the Pomeranian's owner an idiot. But after your attack, you little pit-bull you. I went back and read your post(s). And you're right, you are an idiot. An uneducated one at that. Thanks for pointing that out. Now we know.

28. I have had several Pit Bull Terriers and have had dogs all of my life growing up in the country. Over the years I have seen plenty of mean and aggressive animals who have been raised by mean and aggressive people. This does not mean that all Pit Bulls that are mean are raised by mean people. You also have a lot of uneducated people breeding not just this particular breed, but many others. Hmmmm what happens when you inbreed? Bad traits are magnified-- temperment, conformation, and other health issues as well. These are powerful animals and should be treated as such. ALL ANIMALS should be raised with a gentle, but firm hand. Mine never were and have not now EVER been beaten as it has never been needed for compliance. A word in the right tone can cause my dog to drop her tail between her legs and immeadiately comply. All animals can harm if handled poorly, but the larger the breed (or powerful) the more potential and more reason to handle an animal appropriately. And if you believe that all pit bulls are bad then you are most certainly under-educated. My 17 yr old daughter learned to stand by grabbing two handfuls of Gracie's skin and pulling up. This dog was very careful with her, never moving a muscle until my child was on both feet and began to move, and Gracie would move with her as she began to walk. Gracie was put down due to inoperable bone cancer after 13 of the most loving and loyal yrs. That dog was truly a gift from God for us--one of those once-in-a-lifetime pets. And no responsible (or loving) pet owner allows a pet to run loose anyway..............

29. The sad truth is that it's unrealistic to think that all dogs are registered. I would have to say that she may be telling the truth or at least a partial truth especially given that the dog had no collar.

30. # 22 Pittbulls are evil and they shouldn't exist. Speaking of uneducated how stupid could you be to let a child pull their body weight up by a dog's ears. You're lucky the child wasn't mauled no matter what the breed was. Many dogs are bred w/ certain traits that become inherent, genetic characteristics over generations. for pitbulls it is aggression and violence. preriod.
