Andy Dick: "I Have Offended a Lot of People"

Andy DickJust hours after TMZ broke the story about Andy Dick's cavalier use of the N word in a comedy club this weekend, the alleged comedian has admitted that he made a huge mistake.

In an apology issued through his publicist, Dick said, "I chose to make a joke about a subject that is not funny. In an attempt to make light of a serious subject, I have offended a lot of people, and I am sorry for my insensitivity. I wish to apologize to Ian, to the club, and its patrons and to anyone who was hurt or offended by my remark."

Andy was heckling comedian Ian Bagg at L.A.'s Improv comedy club Saturday, when he sudddenly got out of his seat and jumped onstage, cracked jokes about Michael Richards, and referred to the crowd by the N word.

46. Andy Dick gives me a headache...I don't know what it is he JUST DOES.
He's earwax with a body and name. He's annoying, not funny. He and Pauly Shore should get married and move to Saipan.

47. Okay he said he was sorry and it wasn't funny... exactly what part of his pathetic career was he saying he was sorry for? He's never been funny so is he saying he's sorry for existing?

48. Whatever happened to free speech? I hate the fact that people are basically being told by the media that they must apologize and kiss ass for using any kind of slur. This is a free country and people from all groups/races/religions/etc. should stop acting like whining babies. I'm part of a group of people that is routinely maligned by the public. Do I like it, no. But I don't run around whining and pissing and moaning every time something is said to me that I don't like. And I sure don't expect people that have said hateful things to me to get on national t.v. and radio and sit still while I and others like me berate the individual for hours. Give me a break. Grow the f*** up.

49. Unfortunately ignorance and racism is still very much alive and well in these United States of America and this is a prime example. Dick, Richards and Gipson was only saying how they really feel. Their apology is not accepted.

50. Number # 44, all I have to say to that is bullsh*t. Since when is this N word reflects slavery? If you really look into what Negro means or niger (yes i am typing it straight) it just means "black". It doesn't necessarily mean slave. Whenever I hear someone say this word, all that comes to my mind is a black person. I never thought, oh yeah that is a slave person.

Honestly, I have nothing against black people, I am even from another country, but man, they need to get over this thing. I think it makes them look bad rather than get sympathy. In my country, the local people who has dark skin are called Negritos and they want to be called as that because that is the name of their tribe and they take pride in that name instead of simply calling them "dark skin" people or black people. They feel more offended if you call them black people or dark skin people because it doesn't reflect the culture that they are from but they never think of it as discrimination. These people are indigenous people because despite the fact that the world has changed so much and even if they move along with it, they are able to maintained at least part of their linguistic, culture and social characteristics which makes them unique, and for me, interesting.
