Wayans

Drops N-Bomb,

Faces Fallout

12/6/2006 2:20 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Damon WayansDamon Wayans became the first famous offender of the Laugh Factory's ban on the use of the n-word, and was fined and banned from the club for three months as a result, Wayans' publicist tells TMZ.

After the Michael Richards incident on November 17, the club decided to ban use of the word and fine comedians $20 for every offense. Wayans took the stage Sunday during a showcase of African-American comedians called "Chocolate Sundaes." Wayans opened his routine with the line, "Give yourselves a big round of applause for coming down and supporting 'N***** Night.'" According to the L.A. Times, Wayans used the word 15 more times during his 20-minute appearance.

That's a $320 contribution to the Laugh Factory's swear jar. Wayans' rep had no further comment other than to confirm the fine and the temporary ban.

Andy Dick drew fire earlier this week for using the n-word during an appearance at the Improv.

ELLIS you're a dumbass. You go to every story that has something to do with a black person and make the same racist remarks. At least say something original. That thing about black people not being far from walking on all fours? You said it on another blog already. We got your point!!!

By the way, I just read the Serena Williams- pitt bull story and there you were again. Chatting about some bulls**t that you don't even believe. If you hate black people so much then why are you giving them so much attention. You're trying to incite a reaction just for kicks. You blog on their stories and you admit that you watch Judge Mathis. For someone who hates blacks you sure know how to give them the time of day.

I'm not sure why the word hasn't fallen to disuse. We can all agree that the terms of it's installment into the English language were unsavory. For some white people it's a last resort means to oppress, for some black people it's a handshake. For most of us, it should be neutral (hopefully) since nobody should make sweeping racial generalizations. This is one white person that wishes his ancestors would've done the damn work themselves, then maybe we wouldn't have this problem. People ask what's wrong with America? How can we be so racist? Ignorant? Well, it's got something to do with the roots, even though we try so hard to phase it out, it'll always be there. Inherited like genetics from an unethical era.

Hmmm, someone is controlling our speech? That is odd I didn't realize that the Liberal, Politicall correctness police were interested in controlling our speech...It certainly isn't the Conservatives.
The fact that it was made an issue ( because Michael Richards is WHITE) Now makes it an issue. Wayans made a career out of being an "equal opportunity" offender of people on his show "In Living Color". Don't look now, but everyone is talking about it and HIM. The man is a GENIUS!

My thoughts are this on the matter. If socially acceptable by one group then it should be for all, since there are the screams of equality always in the air. It is a word of ignorance no matter who says it! So why not be above it in the first place. All this does is stir the proverbial racial tensions sh*t pot anyway. No one wins in this matter anyway since the world is melding more together. When are we going to grow up on the trivial sh*t as being Human beings instead of color. Only race out their is Human.

OH GET OVER YOUR NARROW MINDED SELF. IT'S A DOUBLE STANDARD AND OFFENSIVE BEHAVIOR NO MATTER WHAT RACE OR NATIONAL ORIGIN YOU ARE. IT IS NOT O.K. FOR YOU TO SAY IT EVEN IF IT WAS A CHOCOLATE SUNDAE NIGHT BUDDY. HOW BOUT IT TO BE O.K. FOR A OR ANY WHITE MAN TO HAVE A VANILLA MILK SHAKE NIGHT AND SAY THE N WORD.
NOT O.K. EHHHH?

People give too much power to words and try to change or ban them. Wouldn't a better solution be to try and change our actions and our deeds? Its not a word that hurts or holds back people, its the thought process that goes into using the word that is really damaging.

Curiosity Killed the KAT ;-)

I'd like to clarify something to all people that are not of the black persuasion, there are a lot of people who do not use nor like being called N*GGER, by anyone whether it be a black person or anyone else for that matter. Also there is no BLACK person who calls themselves or another black person N*GGER, the term some use is N*GGA which is different but still degrading.

Secondly, the question why is okay for a black person to call someone else who is also black the "N " word...

Example... Your mother pisses you off, you tell your sibling that "Mom is a Beyotch"... Of course you don't say it to your mother.... If some other person, no matter what their race was called your mother a BITCH, you would be offended and want to confront the person for calling your mother that offensive name, even though you may have felt that she acted like one...

I don't agree with banning the word used for comedic purposes or for dramatic effect in a movie etc., what people are not grasping is when Michael Richards used the word it was used as an insult to someone in the audience of a show he was performing at, not as part of his routine... Andy Dick did not use the word in the same manner so I don't see it as a racial insult...Stupid maybe ...

context, context, context....come on people. in my experiences, if a white man calls a black person a n*gger and means it disrespectfully, its an ass kicking; if a black man calls another black man a n*gger and means it disrespectfully, its an ass kicking. so for those keeping score: michael richards, ass kicking; andy dick, no ass kicking; damon wayans, no ass kicking.

There is a huge difference between Damon Wayans and what Micheal Richards did. I really don't think anyone should censor what people say, but when you are a comedian and you alienate yourself from your public ( which pays your bills) you really need to rethink yourself.
