Jessica's Mom Steamed Over '9 to 5' Flub

Jessica and Tina Simpson Jessica Simpson's mother gave Jess a verbal smack-down after her "embarrassing" rendition of "9 to 5" in front of Dolly Parton and President Bush at the Kennedy Center Honors last weekend, telling her that she should get out of the business if she doesn't want to put in the work.

Sources tell TMZ that Tina Simpson was furious with Jess after she flubbed lyrics, stood statue-still on stage while trying to hold her dress up, and then awkwardly hurried off with a few mumbled words to Parton. Tina told her daughter that the performance was "embarrassing" and "unprofessional," and mom was further incensed because Jessica had missed a dress rehearsal and hadn't adequately learned lyrics to the song -- which necessitated cue cards at the front of the stage. Jessica can be clearly seen reading from the cards during her performance.

Curiously, Jessica's dad, Joe, wasn't undone by the snafu, according to Planet Gossip's Marc Malkin. Joe didn't feel there was any need to reshoot the performance, calling it "cute," but show producers, reports Malkin, begged Joe to have Jess do it again, without anyone in the audience. "We almost cut her out of the [CBS] show," says a source.

Jessica's rep has blamed the mishap on nerves, and tells TMZ, "There is no problem with Tina [and Jessica] whatsoever."

31. Well if Joe thinks its cute it at least explains his delusion into allowing her to perform at events like this. No doubt her movie performances have so far oscar worthy??? She has to be brainwashed into thinking that to get out of bed in the morning. Soooooooo wrong....

32. And I thought my family was dysfunctional!!! Whatta f-d up family! IT might be cute when your toddler messes up, but not at this age & during such an important performance. Sure, Dolly probably understands the nervousness & she handled it with class.

Jessica & all the other not so bright pop stars can learn a thing or 2 from her. Dolly wears short dresses, but we haven't seen her without panties. Dolly always seems to be dressed nicely & appear professional. Dolly writes a lot of her own music...good music that people often try to copy but fail horribly! Dolly has been around for over 40 years & to be honest, I've never heard really anything scandalous about her. Gee, why is that??? Maybe, just maybe, she has some class & diginity?

34. #28 that's is so damn funny. #22 you are right we don't know Jessica personally. But we can smell dumb a mile away. And it doesn't take a 7-11 clerk to tell she has no talent. Her dad is pimp and he does whore his no-talent daughter on the public like we are blind and deaf. The mother is so right, but she better watch out because some one got to pose for Playboy in the future so she and the daughters better watch out!

35. Dolly isn't the Skanson's idol, they took an opportunity to do a song they thought would have "synergies" with the piece of crap film the dumb tranny is filming. And when it comes out, we can expect lots of the ugly fat midget doing stupid things, and looking "cute." I WATCHED THE VIDEO AND SHE CLEARLY HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE WORDS TO THE SONG WERE, WAS HOLDING HER DRESS UP SO THAT SHE DID NOT SUFFER A "WARDROBE MALFUNCTION" AND JUST ACTED LIKE SHE HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO DO AFTER THE SONG WAS OVER. HER LITTLE "DOLLY, YOU MAKE ME SO NERVOUS" AND RUN OFF THE STAGE WOULD HAVE BEEN CUTE IF SHE WAS 10 YEARS OLD, BUT COME ON PEOPLE, SHE'S OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER. SHE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A PROFESSIONAL SINGER/ACTRESS, NOT SOME CONTESTANT ON AMERICAN IDOL WHO JUST GOT SLAMMED BY SIMON. I SAY THAT CBS RUN THE FOOTAGE AS IT WAS ORIGINALLY DONE, AND STOP PLACATING HER AND HER SISTER BY GIVING THEM OPPORTUNITY AFTER OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE THEMSELVES LOOK LIKE DECENT PERFORMERS WHEN THEY AREN'T.

40. Tina should realize that the 15 minutes of fame has long since expired. I mean, what do you expect to get from an airheaded no-talent faker like Jessica? Back off, OK? It's a miracle she lasted this long.

The Simpson parents are a disgrace. Even with hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on their childrens' therapy, they will never be whole human beings. Parental criticism only worsens the situation.

42. I'm not a fan of this girl - but I actually feel sorry for her.... that dress did look like it was about to fall off or her boobies were going to bounce out the top. It was really a bad choice.
