H-Wood Hotspot Mood Busted for Underage Patrons

Note to Lindsay Lohan and other underage celebs: Don't go to Mood to get your (illegal) drink on.
club mood

TMZ has learned that Mood, the Hollywood club where TMZ spotted 18-year-old Jesse McCartney in violation of drinking-age laws earlier this year, was cited for allowing two under-21-year-olds to enter the premises "without lawful business." Law enforcement sources tell us that the pair, who were not named, used fake IDs to enter the club on April 6th, whereupon undercover agents for the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control were there and caught them.

Jesse McCartneyThe two people under 21 were cited for "being minors in a public place." The hearing on the alleged violation was completed last month, and the ABC is recommending a 15-day suspension of their liquor license, a decision that will be made by an administrative law judge. Mood owner David Judaken tells TMZ that he is "cooperating" with the ABC and its proceedings.

Back in February, TMZ shot video of then-19-year-old Mary-Kate Olsen and then-19 Lindsay Lohan, among others, entering Mood. As of last year, Mood had never been cited even though the City of Los Angeles had issued 207 citations in 2005. Judaken told TMZ in February, "We are diligent about ID'ing people ... Certain celebrities ultimately enter lots of clubs who are not entitled to enter."

19. Don't blame the clubs.....Well not entirely. Its the freaking police and everone around them that continually turn a blind eyed to those lame ass teeny-boppers who think they look cool holding a beer. Hell if I were famous and could get away with it why not?!?!?! Who are we kidding.....I'm sure we all snuck a beer while underaged!

20. Post # 19, Vanessa: It is NOT the obligation of the local police (or in the case of venues such as Hyde Lounge which is located in the incorporated city of West Hollywood) that falls under the jurisdiction of the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept.). The sole responsibility to monitor the illegal admittance of minors into a restricted club designated by license for those who are "21 years of age and over" in order to enforce any violations such as what keeps recurring at Hyde, is that of the California Dept. of Alcoholic Beverage Control (A.B.C). Obviously they are over burdened and lack the manpower to act on all of the violators in a timely fashion and the operators of these clubs are clearly aware of this deficiency in enforcement.

21. Why don't change the law so it fits the rest of the world?

In Denmark it is legal for people aged 16 to buy alcohol on their own in shops and they can buy drinks at bars when they are 18. We even have an special ID-card most parents give their youngster as an delayed birthdaypresent when they become 16.

Alcohol and driving a car does not mix. So the purpose of allowing youngster at 16 of age to drink is finding out who of them which can control their alcohol intake and who which can not.

They have two years to find out because people has to be 18 in Denmark in order to drive a car. The 16 year limit has been in existence for a number of years now. It have resulted in the lowest numbers of casualties due to DUI since 1950.

I find that it is a waste of money to have laws that are ignored in most families and in fact in violation with the western life style outside the states.

22. Anyone can report violations of the drinking laws to the ABC. Next time you see underagers drinking at Hyde, Teddy's, Les Deux or elsewhere, just snap a pic of them on your cell and send a copy along with a signed letter with your full name, address and phone number to:

Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control
3530 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1110
Los Angeles, CA 90010

25. Leonard I Love You! Don't these clubs require shoes to be worn. Maybe they will have to post signs to that effect as well as the need for underwear. I'd bet that not only the ABC but the L.A. County Health Dept. could close these places down tonight if they went there on inspection!

26. Why Mood.? Its like the lamest club these days. Focus on Hyde or Area, plenty of voilations there... Heck, I think the avg. crowd is 19 in those joints..

Since all these stalkers (media) with video cameras are outside of all these "21 and over" clubs - why can't that be used a issue a underaged violation by the cops? Duh, all the Laguna Beach kids ARE NOT 21 yet they get in ---- BUSTED. End of story. Club fined. Lose license. Donzo. No more kids. But it's H-wood and it would bever happen. These are the same peeps who let O.J. get away....

27. I hope the cops put up some sobriety checkpoints around these joints PRONTO; maybe it will stop some poor innocent from being murdered by one of these sociopaths like the poor kid in BEV. HILLS due to riding with an alleged drunk driver, Lane Garrison!!!

28. The parents of these monsters should be reminded that they could be held liable for the actions of the brats they have raised in the event of injury, death or damage to another person or their property!!

29. I'm glad the ABC is finally doing it's job and cracking down on these "Hollywood hotspots". I was beginning to think the owners had political clout and that's why their licenses hadn't been pulled.

It's pretty sad to see pictures of young actors, singers etc coming out of bars. Since it's often publicized that Lindsey Lohan is underage, why is she allowed in these clubs? The girl already has a problem with alcohol.

Since some of these young people are the role-model for their fans, publicizing their drinking only encourages the same behavior in their fans.
