"Prison Break" Star's Snobbiness Triggered Crash

"Prison Break" star Lane Garrison may have averted tragedy last week had he settled for a lesser vodka.

Garrison was behind the wheel last weekend when his Land Rover crashed into a tree in Beverly Hills, killing 17-year-old Vahagn Setian. As TMZ first reported, Garrison met Setian and two 15-year-old girls hours before the crash. The teens invited the actor to a party. People who attended the party tell TMZ they saw Garrison drink between four and seven shots of Grey Goose vodka in a short period of time.

Now other sources say seven was the unlucky number of shots. And we're told, Garrison was not drinking out of a shot glass -- the receptacle was much larger.

People who attended the party say Garrison finished off the Grey Goose and was offered Absolut vodka, but insisted on his drink of choice. The sources say Garrison was making a liquor run for more Grey Goose with Setian and the two girls when the accident occurred.

Garrison's high-powered celebrity defense lawyer Harland Braun tells TMZ his client was heading back to his apartment when the crash occurred. Garrison's blood was tested the night of the crash to determine his blood alcohol level. Results are pending.

46. #38: I hope that it becomes clear to you someday that someone isn't prosecuted because of they were a not-so-nice guy versus a nice guy or a good actor versus a bad actor, whether he's down to earth and fun versus being a stay at home who watches TV, whether he's a snob or not.

A person is prosecuted for allegedly committing a crime, with the outcome being guilty or not guilty. In this case, the crimes were driving while intoxicated, purchasing alcohol for minors and oh yeah, killing one of those minors.

While you may defend Lane Garrison as that groovy kinda guy that you perceive him to be (and I could care less...I have no idea who he is, only know what it clearly appears that he's done, minus the spin from his attorney who's trying desperately to get him out of this), regardless of where he met these underage drinkers, he was with those underage drinkers for an extended period of time. So it doesn't matter if he met them at a supermarket or a church, whether he has the "talent" to pick up underage girls or not. If he didn't have a penchant for being with minors, he would have found himself a bar or a "TV star party" being thrown somewhere, rather than a party with high school students. He was with them, he got in a car with them, he went to purchase more alcohol for them...and then his total recklessness got him into even more trouble, and someone has died as a result.

Wake up. Just because you declare someone to be a fine actor and a good person doesn't mean that they haven't done what they've done.

47. Why would you believe any of those kids at the party, they were probably drunk too. They probably don't even remember how many drinks they had. Who was watching these kids. Their just as guilty. Lane is innocence until proven guilty.

48. Mr. Garrison,

The dictionary defines the word accident as follows:
1. An undesirable or unfortunate happening that occurs unintentionally and usually results in harm, injury, damage, or loss; casualty; mishap: automobile accidents.
2. Law. Such a happening resulting in injury that is in no way the fault of the injured person for which compensation or indemnity is legally sought.
3. Any event that happens unexpectedly, without a deliberate plan or cause.

Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.0.1)

No one believes you intentionally caused the fatal accident on the night of December 2nd. You made many bad choices that night. You had no business being with teenage children. You had no business drinking and driving, let alone taking three children with you. The kids you were partying with all know the truth. The 2400 High School students all know the truth. The community of Beverly Hills knows the truth. You had every intention of continuing your partying with these children and the alcohol you had just purchased for them.

A young man died. He was not an anonymous teenager. His name was Vahagn Setian. He was a son (the only child), a grandson, a nephew and a friend to everyone he met. He had the ability to befriend the “geeks”, the “jocks”, the “stoners” and all the girls. He would approach a person sitting alone and join them. He would dance down the hall. He would sing Frank Sinatra ballads. He was not afraid to show his love and kindness. Who else could have had an entire High School of 2400 students attend an impromptu memorial service 36 hours after his death?

My daughter was a friend of Vahagn’s. But, that isn’t saying much; everyone who ever met Vahagn was his friend. I took my daughter and her friends to his funeral. As we approached the church we witnessed 12 of Vahagn’s closest friends, all dressed in black suits lifting his coffin out of the hearse and carrying it into the church. As a mother, that sight will haunt me forever. I never again want to take anyone to the funeral of a child whose life could have been spared.

Please, stop hiding behind your powerful PR Agency and your “spin” lawyer. Your guilt is more obvious by hiring an attorney whose reputation is for getting the famous, rich and guilty acquitted. Now is your time to be a man. You made a mistake. Use the leadership of your PR firm and your handlers to turn this tragic accident into a lesson. Stop the spin. Do the right thing. Save yourself, Vahagn’s family, Vahagn’s friends and the community of Beverly Hills from more pain. Now is the time to step up, take responsibility. Help ease this pain. Become a role model to these children by showing them that your behavior and actions on December 2nd were wrong. Mistakes are made. A real man stops hiding behind controlled media, big attorneys and PR firms. Perhaps, if you stand up and tell the truth, you might be able to help save other innocent lives in the future . . . including your own.

Sincerely,
Danna Black

50. Shut up Danna Black. He doesn't read this sh*t. And I go to BHHS and I didn't know who the f*** this kid was. So don't believe your sh*teating daughter because that bitch was probably drunk too. Oh and she would've spread her legs for dear ol' Lane, LOL.

51. Danna, you are so unbelievably right. What he did was wrong, regardless of if he meant to or not. He killed my friend! A neighbor, cousin... son. He was the light of his parents life, there only child.
Lane, please just STEP UP and be a man. Take some responsibility for what you did. Everyone here who is defending Lane, come on are you for real? you are probably some lonely man being paid by Braun to post your ignorant comments. How would you feel if some stupid actor killed your friend? Your son? Put yourself in my position here people, be respectful and stop with these hurtful comments. Lane, we all might be less harsh and mean to you if you would just take some responsibilty for what you have done. Stop lying to us and the news. Please lane, please.

52. "Garrison's blood was tested the night of the crash to determine his blood alcohol level." SO-o-o-o-o-o-o-o, it's somehow BETTER that you were heading back to your apt with two 15yr old girls & a 17yr old boy than going on a booze run?!? WOW! I'm friggin amazed at the audacity of it all. "No, we were just going by my house to make some 'pictures' & cuddle. I would NEVER buy booze for kids!"

53. CRAP! This was the quote I meant to use!!
Here it is edited...

54. #43 I can appreciate how heart-breaking it must've been for you & your daughter to attend the funeral of such a popular student and promising young life.

However, I can't help wondering where the parents were who allowed a bunch of underage teenagers (not children) to party unsupervised and apparently uncontrolled. Was Lane the only adult over the age of 18 there?

With all due respect, Lane isn't 'hiding' behind anyone. He's doing what any sane person in his predicament would do. Taking legal advice to protect himself from what has turned into a witchhunt.

If it were my word against 30 drunken teenagers I'd be hiring myself a damn good lawyer too. Those teenagers who were perfectly happy to party with Lane at the time are hardly going to make credible witnesses now that they've lost such a dear friend.

Lane is stepping up and being a man. The devastation on his face as he was leaving a church on Wednesday morning was apparent for all to see.

I'm not trying to diminish your feelings of loss but placing all the blame on Lane for what happened that night is wrong and that is why he has quite sensibly hired an attorney.

Lane is a man of integrity, he isn't hiding but facing up to what happened with dignity and immense sorrow.

55. OMFG!!! Now I've heard it all!! I've never heard such BS in all my life!!! Snobbiness caused the accident?!!! That has got to be the world's most f-ing lamest excuse! "You can't find me guilty! I'm a vodka snob!!!"

But I'll remember it for if I ever kill someone, but I prefer whiskey!!! Imagining to myself: I'm standing over my hubby's lifeless body cause he wouldn't give me shots of JD's single barrel. I'm NOT GUILTY on all charges...cause I'm a snob when it comes to my drink of choice.

And ya know what, I don't think a comment like that would ever impress a jury. Juries tend to be made up of your average everday Joe/JoAnne(s). Like maybe someone who has never tried Grey Goose or has it only on rare occassions. Also I'd find it hard to believe him if he'd try to say taking the KIDS with him was to impress them...like I've renting a limo would be FAR more impressive!

Lane, you & your lawyer might be able to shovel a whole pile up $hi+ to the media & public, but don't bet on us buying it. Much less accepting it as a defense or excuse for killing another human being. Maybe it would be wise to make sure not to comment at all on this case.

56. #9 Give us ALL a break please. He was crying????? and to beat it all in a church???? poor, poor little freaking murderer. whaa!
Soooooooo is that his punishment? You are IGNORANT, so please stop making the rest of us look like you, OK?

I don't care grey goose, absolute, smirnoff, whatever 2 shots you are impaired. Because a person has lots of money, does not in any way make them a God.

Also waiting for blood tests to come back? That test can come back almost immediately. Bet they waited 50 hrs to take that test & it will come back clean.
As for all you saying "give him a break" why should we. Would be different if that was your family member who was MURDERED by a no good bastard like him.
Lane go to rehab, and if you are related to any of the Kennedy clan, Yoi will be absolved of any,and all charges

Posted at 5:11PM on Dec 10th 2006 by Darlene

57. #48 another ignorant blog............ Sure he was crying, that does not change the fact he is a murderer.
I say he should have had urine, blood & breathalizer tests run immediately at the scene, breathalizer could have been done. and it does not take this long for a blood test to come back.
A family has lost a member of their family & with it being Holidays that is even harder. NO amount of money or crying from the person who did this will mend their broken hearts.

GIVE THIS GRIEVING FAMILY A BREAK!!!!!!!!!! I hope them the best.

58. I cannot believe all the ppl blaming children for a 20 something man's behavior.
Parents for the most part, are not to blame, most kids make bad decisions, that their parents are unaware of at the time. But they still deserve a chance to grow up to be Adults
I think WE ALL have done that at one time or another. And if you didn't then you are either a liar or a Saint.
WELL Lane is not a saint he is going to HELL . The "kids" made him do it. That has to be the most stupidest remark i have heard yet!
Crying at the funeral? He should, he murdered a Young Man. But I am sure that was supposed to be good PR.
CHILDREN know where the adults are? And please don't "make" an Adult a drink.

59. HEY PEOPLE...ABSOLUT TASTES LIKE CRAP...WHAT DID YOU EXPECT HIM TO DO?

Posted at 6:04PM on Dec 11th 2006 by JIM

60. Lane isn't a murderer. Look up the definition before you use that word, MORONS.

Also, to whoever said that Lane was the one who said he was a snob for vodka, read the f***ing article. That is what the TMZ staff wrote because the stupid ass drunks at the party told them that.

LET'S TALK ABOUT HOW THE TEENS WERE GIVING HIM SHOT AFTER SHOT. NO WONDER HE WAS F***ING DRUNK. THEY ARE COVERING THEIR OWN ASSES.
