"SNL's" Gibson Movie Trailer -- Hilarious!!

We don't usually sing the praises of "Saturday Night Live" (because they usually aren't funny), but today we applaud them for sticking it to Mel Gibson in last night's episode.

Just after the monologue, "SNL" aired its own "re-cut" version of a trailer for Mel's new movie, "Apocalypto." Let's just say they made more like the Gibson movie we expect from Mel after his anti-Semitic rant from earlier this year.

Check it out!

93. Harry or Harvey Levin or whatever your name is, how come you're still trashing Mel? As hard as you've tried to trash his career, guess what, it hasn't worked. PEOPLE LOVE MEL GIBSON, and his new movie is a HIT, it's great, you should go see it Harvey or Harry and make Mel a little richer.

94. God, give it up already. Lay off the guy. I am sure there isn't a single person (including me) who hasn't said or done something REALLY stupid when they were drinking/drunk, esp. if they were pulled over. He has apologized. You either accept it or you don't. And, if you don't, shut up so the rest of us don't have to isten to you.

95. SNL is boring. This "hilarious" spin borders on mild. The canned laughter in the background indicates that the producers pump nitrous into the studio just prior to filming.

96. Wow,.. I have to say that I am surprised to see so many people supporting Mel Gibson. I do agree that he does have talent as a director, but there are many celebrities that are talented that I refuse to support because of their racist, homophobic,or massogenistic views. But even beyond that,.it's just intellectually dishonest to try to justify the actions of a person that you don't even know.

Not to mention, the post about Mel's historical accuracy, was that a joke? Not that I expect that from dramatic films( see a documentory once in a while) but Gibsons films are almost notoriously re-tellings of the David/Golaith parayble. Some noble and good hearted person just trying to lead and honest life,..yet getting somehow caught up in the dishonesty and greed of the cruel cruel world. I get it Mel,..in your mind,..your the one whose being persecuted!

Anyway, my point is that your support of a man who is clearly anti-semetic, only goes to show the depth of this irrational hatred. No matter what group is being attacked,..even if(as a celebrity,..that you don't know) its someone you like,..if you allow it,....do you get that?,..if you allow it,..then you are just as guilty. It's time for this entire country to grow the hell up. It's time to reject the kind of intolerence that comes from ignorance. For all our sakes.

98. So busloads of Christians were carted off to mall cinemas to make a big statement about Mel Gibson's viability. GIVE IT UP you crazy christians, although taking on an anitsemitic, sexist pig's cause may be good for you.
At least it gives us WASP women a break from your crazy women-hating rhetoric.
Mel Gibson is NOT going to heaven and neither are you.
And his new movie is just the angry bloodbath realization of a crazy Catholic drunk.
Mea Culpa Mea Culpa Mea Maxima Culpa.
So SNL did its first funny bit in quite a while. Don't get your tighty whities in a knot over it. Move on, Mels' christian apologists, move on!!

102. I gues it says a lot about just how shallow Americans really are. MG gets drunk... put lives in jeporaody driving drunk out of his mind.....cusses the police up one side.....makes disparaging remarks. makes a few "I'm so sorry" remarks.....throws a few bucks to the right "chickens"......makes a movie and everone forgives and forgets. COME ON....THIS GUY IS AH DRUNK NO BETTER THAN ( PROBABLY LESS THAN) THAN WORST DRUNK, DRUGGY ON THE STREET............Amen

104. I thought the piece was awful. To make fun of any race or religion is just not right for the sake of a joke. SNL was good long ago, but it lost it's spark quite a bit back.

105. As a Jew, I have moved on. In fact, all Jews that I know have moved on (my old dad actually went to see this movie last night). Maybe I define moving on different than some of the other posters, but to me this was just SNL's parody of a recently opened movie. The writers probably had written this weeks ago, but simply wanted to time it with the opening of the movie.

I thought it was funny, and NOT indicative of Jews "complaining." So what if some of the writers on SNL are Jewish (which I think few if any of the posters really know)? Let's say there are. Then obviously this is Jews making light of the situation (*Gasp* You mean Jews have a sense of humor???). Would you prefer that we try to sue Mel or take another route? We're too busy and ABOVE that.

The skit was just a well-timed PARODY that ended up showing how ABSURD comments like Mel's were - not much different from the point Sasha Cohen made in the Borat movie. In fact, one might say SNL is riding Cohen's coattails too.
