Someone Else Will Die

Photo montage of Nicole RichieA 17-year-old boy has already died in an SUV driven by a celebrity. Someone else is going to die, and it will happen sooner rather than later.

Nicole Richie's loved ones could easily have been planning her funeral today -- likewise the loved ones of the people driving the right way on the 134 Freeway early Monday morning.

Lane Garrison must be scratching his head today. Why, he must be asking, did he have such bad luck? The fact is, the differentiating factor that makes Garrison a killer and Richie a DUI'er is luck. That's it.

I'm not trying to preach, and I will readily admit that TMZ has prospered off the antics of a group of young celebrities. When Brandon Davis went on his "firecrotch" rant against Lindsay, it was endlessly entertaining. When Paris got in fender-benders, it was so TMZ. And when Britney spread her legs for all the world to see, well it was Internet gold.

But the line has been crossed. The dark side of Hollywood has been revealed in the last month. And really, it's no surprise. There are a lot of young celebs who got really rich and very famous way too soon. The people who surround them are not used to saying "no." These celebs have gotten away with a lot -- mostly small stuff -- for a long time. And each time you get away with something you shouldn't, you get bolder the next time.

These celebs, for the most part, have no compass to guide them. Look at Lindsay Lohan. Her dad used the revolving door at his local jail while her mom was at war with him when she wasn't out partying. Lohan really didn't stand a chance, and it's sad.

So who will save the day and save these kids from disaster? In this town, saviors are awfully hard to come by.

182. i am so tired of seeing celebrities getting a slap on the wrist. they are citizens of this country and deserve the same punishment as anyone else. celebrity status shouldn't make a difference but then again neither should race, sex, religon, etc. the justice system is sh*t and everyone is so money-hungry they don't care about anything or anyone else, so long as they get their "fair" share. i highly recommend a documentary entitled, "the corporation".

and as a side note/question: why does everyone assume nicole's skeletal frame is due to an eating disorder? its drugs. its almost always drugs. just like with mary-kate olsen. her problem was cocaine, not anorexia. come on, TMZ and every other gossip site and 'zines, think about it. why did Mk leave the center so soon? uh-huh, that's what i thought.

183. Hollywood need to really crack down on the young celebrities in Hollywood who are really .......up , by their crazy ass behavior and doing things that are totally out of control. EX: Drinking in clubs without being carded and drinking up the influence of drugs/alcohol (Lindsay and a few others, who are under-age) .It's time to put a stop to the madness in Hollywood, NOW. The young celebrities with all that money get away with breaking the law in CALIFORNIA. Nicole truly needs help with her problems, before she does end-up killing herself, a friend or an innocent person one day. I thought all people have REAL FAMILIES and NOT CELEBRITY FAMILIES....... to keep things REAL. Hollywood is going to hell for sure. I know about Hollywood..... I am a niece of a celebrity. I have seen the Hollywood scene. BELIEVE ME!!!!!! It is not a pretty sight to see.

184. I think the time to get serious is long overdue. Just think of the damage these "role models" are doing to hundeds of thousands of young people.

Anyone who is interested in joining the campaign...we can all write, call, email, blog...whatever... to the agents, agencies, Hollywood producers, record producers, retail vendors of their perfumes or clothing lines or anything else these spoiled, arrogant brats are getting even richer off of and tell them what we think and perhaps, we think we will stop spending our hard earned dollars on their movies, records, perfumes.....anything commercially related to Lohan, Hilton, Spears, and Ritchie.

Money talks, so does cutting it off.

185. Hats off to Harvey Levine! Talk about about truth and honesty all in one small segment. He hits a home run with everything he wrote about. Very sad what is going on and he is so right that more trauma is yet to come. Levine seems more concerned about these young celebrities than the people who are handling their careers and family members who should care about them most!

186. An earlier poster here or on another "Nicole" board asked what celebrities we would like to here about. They signed with "C." I always like hearing about Mary Tyler Moore and Shelley Fabares. Shelley was in my class for a couple of years in high school and left as I recall due to her schedule on "The Donna Reed Show." She was not "stuck-up" at all as I recall and I really admire her work on behalf of Alzheimer's Disease.

187. uh, are they really worth saving? it's not like it would be any kind of tremendous loss since all of them have only a modicum of talent. there's no shortcut to respect in gollywood. you want respect? get out and earn it... by paying your dues. not by riding someone else's coattails.

188. Stop making celebrities out of trash. The real talented celebrities are dead. Who are these people today? What are their credits? Boozing, sex, adultery, potheads and you take pictures of this like we really want to see this crap. Stop following them around like they're important. They"re NOT' Let them just fade away. I for one would not spend a cent to see any of then, nor would I even watch them for free. Hollywood never put up with scandels years ago, stars were blackballed for less than these idiots do. The stars of yesterday were beautiful and classy, today they're boozing, trashy, potheads, and revered as "Stars" Get real, Go looking for real talent. not plastic phoney arrogant teens. Over 50

189. The fact that these stars are getting dui's is horrible, but the way the press puts it all over the news for days upon on days is building their image and making it almost a popular thing forother kids to see and do. For you to say that they are being bad role models is your fault for making the Nichole Richie issue the biggest news story for the last two days and probably the next three

191. What amazes me that will all of their money they do not have the sense to have a livery or car service drive them around, especially when they are out drinking and partying. It just seems like common sense!

192. Thank You!! I can say I am guilty as the next person. I sit here each day at work & entertain myself with the stories posted on here about Paris, Britney, Lindsay, Nicole- the list goes on...however, each time I read about their risky antics I think to myself these are the "women" that young girls look up to and idolize! What a sick and disturbing message this is to send to pre-teens, teens & young women alike. Money will get you whatever you want, get you out of whatever you need and you will get attention for it! Not only is this lifestyle that these "icons" are living hurt them, but it sends a mixed message to the women and children who look up to them. I am 25 year old, and I remember a day when I thought celebrities were flawless & perfect- now I feel fortunate for having parents that stressed my education, disciplined me, and told me "no" every now and again. These women need to be punished not only for their sake, but for the good of the generation who idolizes them, so that that may see that their behavior is wrong & has consequences!

194. i feel sorry for all you guys that bash lindsay lohan because she is making an effort to turn her life around. i have always felt that linds' life in the public eye is like a play; there's the first act (the wild-child/bad girl/party girl ways) and the second act (the oscar-winning actress deep down inside of her). i deeply amire her and she's my idol and it's a huge shame that hilary duff had to impose that 'party girl' rep on her, because she's a great talent. if you have been reading up on her like i have, you will know that she's been going to AA meetings, stopped drinking, and been hanging around with her family more (who flew to LA to be with her for the holidays) while she's preparing to film a new movie. things are looking up for her. unforeanlty, i have a extremely bad feeling that she is going to die before she's 30, and that's sad to me, because she will probaly die at the prime of her acting career. don't ask me why i feel this way, expect that i do. all i can say at this point is to stay well, linds as james dean once said

"live as if you will die today, dream as if you will live forever

195. Thank you for pointing this out. Killing, or possibly killing someone, because of your own negligence for using alcohol or drugs, is much different then leaving your house without underpants on.

I commend you for saying what so many in the gossip industry wouldn't take the time to say.
