A 17-year-old boy has already died in an SUV driven by a celebrity. Someone else is going to die, and it will happen sooner rather than later.
Nicole Richie's loved ones could easily have been planning her funeral today -- likewise the loved ones of the people driving the right way on the 134 Freeway early Monday morning.
Lane Garrison must be scratching his head today. Why, he must be asking, did he have such bad luck? The fact is, the differentiating factor that makes Garrison a killer and Richie a DUI'er is luck. That's it.
I'm not trying to preach, and I will readily admit that TMZ has prospered off the antics of a group of young celebrities. When Brandon Davis went on his "firecrotch" rant against Lindsay, it was endlessly entertaining. When Paris got in fender-benders, it was so TMZ. And when Britney spread her legs for all the world to see, well it was Internet gold.
But the line has been crossed. The dark side of Hollywood has been revealed in the last month. And really, it's no surprise. There are a lot of young celebs who got really rich and very famous way too soon. The people who surround them are not used to saying "no." These celebs have gotten away with a lot -- mostly small stuff -- for a long time. And each time you get away with something you shouldn't, you get bolder the next time.
These celebs, for the most part, have no compass to guide them. Look at Lindsay Lohan. Her dad used the revolving door at his local jail while her mom was at war with him when she wasn't out partying. Lohan really didn't stand a chance, and it's sad.
So who will save the day and save these kids from disaster? In this town, saviors are awfully hard to come by.

Dear Mr. Levin:
Well said my friend. Young Hollywood seems to be on the brink of not only self-destruction, but also societal devastation (pardon the grandiose language). Celebrity actions, and those we idolize, have communal collateral effects. If their actions do not hurt someone directly, their actions will indirectly corrupt the impressionable that the same disastrous behavior is tolerable. There has to be accountability to all those involved; more directly, the %u201Chot clubs%u201D need to ID celebrity age rather than STATUS (and Yes, I do know Nicole is over 21).
And I do want to clarify my first comment cause that was not meant to sound like that. NO ONE makes these celebs do the things they do, no one. They are responsible for their own actions and need to realize that and start owning up to it. I think though it would be awfully hard to be a celebrity in todays world. Constant scrutiny, men hiding in your bushes following your every and I mean EVERY move,, and flashing cameras non-stop in your face. And then the next day those same pics spread on countless magazines with degrading and 99% of the time FALSE and conjunctured stories just to sell a magazine. I don't think its that great, nor would I want to be in their shoes. Pictures can speak millions of words and are money worthy but FACT is priceless and unfortunately in Hollywood and elsewhere not needed to make a story. Oh heck no take a pic of someone closing their eyes or tripping and the next day its on the local magazine rack with "Lindsay's Drunken Night" when she was in a club and just tripped on her pants or something. PEOPLE need to get FACTS and start beleivin gthe truth cause the media know damn well that mindless peeps will beleive ANYTHING and EVERYTHING they conjour up and put on the front page. People like to read about negative things, not positive and when it is something positive someone ALWAYS finds a way to degrade it! What a shame.
Very true Seeking Justice #36. Here is my hope, that Britney, Lindsay, Paris and Nicole are in the same car going 100 mph that plows into a tree. Better them than the innocent people that will eventually be killed by these worthless freaks.
Its nice to see people like JENNA can push 2 years and his other 2 neglected kids to the side and look at Kevin Federfvck as a saint....YOUR SICKENING sorry hunny! And its NOT ONLY BRITNEY, PARIS and LINDSAY oh no. You need to realize that they are NOT the only ones in Hollywood doing things and since when is Britney doing anything that looks like its harming anyone? UMMM she hasn't so get your facts str8 b!tch!
How sweet would that be to see Nicole (or Paris or Lindsey) behind bars? In prison without their Juicy sweats, their Evian water, their little pups.
That would be hilarious! Until that happens to one of them, these glamour girl/sluts will continue to be White Trash With Money. It's like a badge of honor for them to have a DUI and get off with barely a slap on the wrist. The public needs to stop buying their records, going to their movies, and giving a sh*t what they do everyday!
TMZ, You have done something very unique. You brought something forward and you have popular support! Do something positive with this. Yes, you will do the covering clubs and what your other fans expect... Be creative -- find the stars and coverage of folks that are doing great things that you have access to. You have the lead on this... go to work and find the really great things that media only can only do!
#39 KARMA IS A B!TCH and you just made yourself the enemy of that. Wishing disgusting stuff as such is not only showing your true colors but your ignorance and stupidity. Your only hurting yourself and will be eating your words yourself unfortunately. karma plays in silly ways. WOW its sad to see ignorant people like that still exist. Its not only sad but pathetic.
And lets get something str8 here. Britney has not being driving drunk or anything else or put anyones lives in danger so you ALL need to stop saying such! You are truley pathetic! Lets not forget Young Hollywood needs to include HOLLYWOOD and the WORLD at whole not just 3 girls so PLEASE reword that cause mindless fools obviously dont get it!
Meg #42 nobody pays attention to posters who merely criticize and degrade other posters. If you have something INTELLIGENT to say, do so. Otherwise find another hobby that is more in line with your intellectual restrictions.
Good post Jenna!
people don't you realize these kids WANT the papparrazi to follow them . without the press these kids would be nothing. thats why they go to the same spots over and over. the press is their only claim to fame .so don't feel pity for their exposed lives. i'll bet if paris went one week without press she'd pull some crazy stunt to make sure she got some.dont you notice that the real stars we see in movies and on tv lead fairly normal lives?
Great admission of guilt...but what are you, as the media, willing to do about your contribution. These celeb's do all this outragous stuff to get publicity. You print it, we read it, they get what they wanted...PUBLICITY!
Nicole will get a slap on her boney wrist, Britney will neglect her children to go out pantyless partying with Paris, and tomorrow you will report it and we will read it!! It's a vicious cycle. AND we all are doing our part to contribute to the ongoing B.S. that is influencing the demise America's youth!
She really could have killed an innocent person. Driving under the influence is ignorant. My dad killed himself drunk driving and although sad, I'm just greateful he didn't kill someone else. He knew better, yet he risked everything when he got behind the wheel - and lost. He hurt so many people and could have hurt more.
