Kato Comes Clean

Kato Kaelin said something pretty interesting on his way out of Hyde last night. Yes my friends, Kato actually got into Hyde and maybe that's the lead.

But on his way out, someone stopped the man who was in O.J. Simpson's guesthouse the night Simpson banged into the air conditioner and dropped his murder glove.

Kaelin was asked about Simpson's disgusting book, "If I Did It." His response -- "What do you mean 'if'?"

The criminal and civil trials were my life for two years. I covered it for the CBS affiliate in L.A. and it was the only topic in my life. Trust me, Kato knew a lot more than he told. Remember, he claims he was awakened by a thump that shook the walls of the guesthouse -- that was Simpson hitting the A.C. (no, not Cowlings, the air conditioner).

Remember; before the murders, Simpson and Kato drove to McDonald's together. There are a lot of stories about what they did and what they said during that McRun. At the very least, O.J. Simpson was in a rage after getting snubbed by Nicole, and he was always willing to rant even when people weren't in the mood to listen. Kato the houseguest was obligated to listen.

And one more thing -- there's no doubt in my mind that Kato heard a lot of commotion after Simpson left for the airport. Double murder is a messy business, and there was plenty to clean and discard that night. I don't think Kato was part of the cleaning crew, but I think he knew exactly who was.

So, when Kato nixed the word "if" last night, it's the most honest he's been about the murders in a dozen years. By the way, he's a really nice guy, but I can't believe he got into Hyde.

17. Wonder what made Kato want to go to Hyde? Well, I'm glad he wasn't at Musso Franks or The Smoke House.

18. Question (a serious one, I'm just curious, not judging) -- are you leaving yourself open to slander charges (or maybe I mean libel, I get them confused) when you make statements like OJ did it, he slammed into the AC, etc.? After all, he was found innocent in a court of law, whether any of us believe or respect the ruling, and he has the same legal rights as any one. Also, its a slippery slope once it becomes okay to disregard a jury verdict and persist in calling someone a thief, or murderer, etc., once they have been found innocent.

I could not care less about OJ Simpson (at the very least he's guilty of being truly disgusting), I'm thinking of how this could affect others in the future who may actually be innocent of charges.

20. That racist little punk better watch his ass. My man OJ was found innocent of all charges, those are the facts. I'm sick and tired of all this OJ crap and he has all the right in the world to write any book he wants. It's the racist White's who want to keep him and all African Americans down, case closed. You the man, Juice!

21. OJ was innocent and should of never been put on trial. The racist LA pigs just wanted to bring down a successful and famous brother. And as for as this little punk ass bitch, he better watch what he says too.

22. Harvey, I understand you covered the case for 2 years, I think alot of us watched the drama on tv, but this is getting old. He says "if" now? What is your point? O.J. can't be tried again.

This needs to be put to rest. I feel sorry for the families that have to continue living their lives with constant reminders of what happend to their loved ones. STOP!

23. Kato does not know anything. I am suprised he can tie his own shoes. Yes, everything looks like OJ did it, Kato just didn't have anything else to add to the situation.

Also, I did watch much of the trial (I was laid out with a broken leg and unable to work) There was a big difference between the evidence in court and the stuff we knew about on the news. I blame the prosecuters for putting together a bad case.

Sad Harvey Levin is still on the OJ beat a decade later. Nice career Levin.

24. Oh yeah, right, Rasheem. It was a big ol conspiracy to put another "innocent black man" in jail. I'm sure if Nicole had been black and OJ white you would be singing another tune. Isn't it funny how it's only black people who say he is innocent! Also, he was found "not guilty" not "innocent". There is a difference.

27. I think TMZ is to Paris what Kato was to OJ.

28. Oh please that dude is looking for yet another 15mins of fame. I suppose he was the other guy? Because you can't kill two people at the same time.

29. Actually, I'm tired of the whole thing. Trust me, Nicole is only still mourned because she was a blonde white girl. The only reason everyone believes OJ did it still is because she was a blonde white girl, and that black man had to be insane for her. Maybe she shouldn't have married him for his green money. Maybe she shouldn't have partied with the wrong people. Maybe this isn't a case of "Othello" at all. Maybe white people...now hold on to your butts...OJ didn't do it. I believe he knows who did. But Nicole's rep was not as pristine and her life not as blameless as the media and her family portray. If it had been Margerite, his first wife, it would have been a passing by line and if OJ said he didn't do it, White America wouldn't still be crying foul because they would have cared less. Let Nicole, Ron, and OJ rest. Let's move on and talk about some not white people now. The world is full of Not white people. About 80 percent. Go figure.
