Barbara Retracts; Sides With Rosie Over Trump

In what essentially amounts to a retraction, Barbara Walters said that ABC asked her to read a statement on today's episode of "The View" saying that Donald Trump never filed for personal bankruptcy -- something O'Donnell alleged during one of her rants against the combed-over billionaire. Babwa added that Rosie O'Donnell isn't going anywhere.

Walters said she never told her "friend" Donald Trump that she wanted Rosie off the show, saying, "Nothing could be further from the truth." O'Donnell is currently on vacation and Walters says she will be welcomed back "with open arms."

Trump and O'Donnell have been feuding ever since the Miss USA scandal, which Trump resolved by sending Tara Conner to rehab, but allowing her to keep her crown. Rosie, in her Rosie-esque way, questioned Trump's moral authority. Snarks have been flying ever since.

76. Yes, some of you are right: this is about ratings ... ratings for The Apprentice. You may recall that last year, when his show wasn't doing so well, he threw Martha and her show "under the bus" rather than admit his show had problems. And he had a major hand in producing her show. Now he's threatening to sue Rosie and The View. Like that's gonna happen. Donald ain't about to sue ABC and it's parent company, Disney. It very well could result in him having to open his financial books to scrutiny, not to mention any number of people being called to testify because they feel his financial problems (aka bankruptcy) screwed them in the past. I'm not suggesting he's done anything illegal. I just don't believe anyone in his position would put themselves in a situation that might result in the courts reviewing their finances.

Although I've been a faithful viewer of The Apprentice since its inception, I won't waste any more time on it. IMO, Donald crossed a line with some of his comments, especially regarding Rosie's partner, and I'll have no part in supporting his show. I urge others to do the same.

Gee. I wonder if The Donald is gonna sue me if his show tanks in mid-season?

77. Barbara get rid of Rosie, she is killing your show

78. Because of Rosie, I am now a View watcher. Rosie is not afraid to speak up and say what others are thinking. Why would they replace Rosie, they knew she would speak her mind and not hold back before they offered her the job. That's what it is all about, ratings and making money.

Speaking of money. The Donald has more then enough to buy a new hairdo.

81. In my estimation neither Donald or Rosie is a bargain. Donald is a womanizer, but Rosie is a big mouth blithering about much to do about nothing. I didn't realize that both of them were so hard up for money! I am really sorry that at Ms. Walter's age that she feels the need to put offensive and over bearing people on her show. I used to watch the original cast when the show first came on and found it pretty entertaining...however it has spiraled down into hell in the last several years. I supposed the next thing that people with have to endure is pore Whitney Houston whining on the show about how abused she has been! give me a break!

82. This looks like the first step in Trump's lawsuit... babwawawa has been told to toe the network line and get some distance from her 'dear rosie's' possibly slanderous mis-speaking.

84. I think it would be funny if DONALD tried to sue us. Let him do it. For what? I have nothing worth anything for him. Oh wait, I have a pretty sister and a good looking mother. Maybe he will try and cheat on Melina with one of them.

I hope everyone boycotts his show and it goes down in flames!

85. Fags and dykes love Rosie. She is their hero. Shows you how brain disordered so many people are. The only thing that Roise shoud do now is stay on vacation permanently. Barbara Walters is an intelligent and classy woman. Rosie is bringing in ratings now because of shock value but it will get too much because she is not an intelligent person. She will cross the line and the show will eventually have to can her obese ass.

86. It's not a retraction and nor even "essentially a retraction" simply because Trump claimed that BW said something and BW responds that she never said it. BW did not admit to saying something and take it back--that would be a retraction...

88. Suzie,
Thats was a great comment... "It is just another star without the jones." I may have to use that sometime on one of my friends when they get too big for their britches. But you can promise I will give credit where credit is due and not lie and make up stories about you like a certain "comb over" does.

I know it is all tabloid culture but we as americans have a right. We have the right to free speech. And as humans we have the right to turn the channel when it is on.

I love the show. I personally share many opinions as the ladies do (and I am a guy!) but i also can disagree. I personally think TRUMP is only rich cause of his daddy. It is a shame that the trumps of the world cannot be more like the gates or the winfrey's -- at least they use their money for some amazing things. And no matter what you may think about Rosie, the woman cares deeply for children and has donated millions and millions to charities and to help adoptions for children and other great things. What does TRUMP donate to? A 2nd rate beauty pagent where doing coke is okay and underage drinking is acceptable.

89. If Donald Trump wants to see "Fat and Ugly" he only need look in a mirror. Does he seriously think he'd ever get laid if he wasn't so rich? He is unattractive, rude, and juvenile.

90. I cannot believe anyone would actually side with the Trumpster. Rosie was absolutely 100% right. Who the heck is he to talk about someones moral character mister "I've been married 3 times, cheated on my first wife with another women, dumped the other women before my pre-nup ran out, married another women half his age (who I'm sure he will dump when that pre-nup runs out). Pleaseeeeeee! He is a male chauvenist pig who only care about his $$$$$. By the way, good comeback Don, calling Rosie fat and ugly, next time just throw your shovel at her in your sandbox you childish baboon!!!
