Suzanne: At Least I Don't Have a Kid in Iraq

In the wake of a devastating fire that destroyed her Malibu home, Suzanne Somers maintains a positive attitude.

In a statement to TMZ issued by her rep, Suzanne says, "My nature is to look at the glass half full. I don't have a son or daughter in Iraq. I haven't lost a loved one. We will rebuild, and I truly believe we will learn something great from this experience."

Suzanne and her husband were not in Malibu during the blaze.

16. Screw u ss. Just the way that statement came across is horrible. My son went and came back but my cousins son wasn't so lucky. Do us all a favor, when you make statements like that...don't. Glad your house can be rebuilt. Maybe you should go spend some time with families who lost a precious member. Then you rethink about equating your home with the death of brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, mothers, fathers or other family members.

17. Jake, you seem to be missing the point. She is saying that losing her house is not nearly as traumatic or important as having a loved one in Iraq. I think she's on your side here, as am I. I hope your son comes home soon, safe and sound. And to be fair, you might be a little self-centered if your house had just burned down. Most people would.

21. IDIOTS-She was showing more sympathy for the parents with children in IRAQ as opposed to her situtation. GET OFF HER BACK!

22. I agree. She was not trying to say anything bad about soldiers in Iraq. She was saying that even losing her home is a small sacrifice when compare to having a son and/or daughter in Iraq. I think what she said was nice.

God bless you Sergeant McGuire. Stay safe. I hope to see you in our living room soon.

24. As usual, the MORONS on the left think only those that have a like mind can speak it. So, MORONS, why is it that she has a right to free speech and those condemning the plastic retard aren't supposed to respond? Oh, that's right, you don't have a real arguement, only the same idiotic crap.

I don't know that her comments were meant in a derogatory way or not, nor do I care, but why would you choose those words.

25. Love how celebs think that everything has to be a political statement. To show just how truly profound Ms. Summers' thought process is, she concldues that "we can all learn something from this" What, if anything does that mean? A wildfire burns down your house, what is the object lesson here? But hey, at least she got her anti-war jab in. Sure, she is entitled to her opinion, as we all are here, but her statements are exactly why celeb's opinions should not be taken seriously, and why persons of her political persuasion should not be trusted to defend this country.

26. Hey KELLY! So the troops are in Iraq Illegally? You seem to forget that a large number of demorcrats in the house and senate voted for actions in Iraq. That makes it legal.

Now let's look back to the late 90's and a little thing called Bosnia. Clinton made an executive order, sent our troops into Bosnia and promised they would be home by that Christmas. Almost a decade later and they are still there.

Under the rules of the United States the President can only deploy troops into a conflict for 3 months before having to obtain congressional approval. So when did the congressional approval come...........it never did!

Who is in violation of the law....Bill Clinton was and is. Get your facts straight before you sound like a moron.

27. Is this person still important enough to warrant national TV coverage? Please contact me about a new dog food dish I invented where the food stays out of the water bowl next to it. It is much more news worthy.

28. Wow. Iraq. Lucky for her (and us) we aren't in WWII now. She could say she was proud not to have a child in Germany fighting Nazis.

29. jake, put the crack pipe down and go get a job you dolt. Bush is insane and you morons that voted for him and are rah rahing his f***ing illegal war YOU SHOULD GO OVER THERE and fight big mouth. Iraq was NO threat to the US. I am sorry you didn't recieve a proper education YOU MORON

30. Iraq is a diversion. As the army attacks Iraq, the US gov't erodes rights at home by suspending habeas corpus, stealing private lands, banning books like "America Deceived" from Amazon, rigging elections, conducting warrantless wiretaps and starting 2 illegal wars based on lies. Soon, another US false-flag operation will occur (sinking of an Aircraft Carrier by Mossad) and the US will invade Iran, (on behalf of Israel).
