"The Geek" Joins the N-Bomb Club

Brat packer Anthony Michael Hall used the N-word twice while signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans last night, and it all went down outside the Laugh Factory, of all places.

Hall, the star of such 80s classics as "Sixteen Candles" and "The Breakfast Club," uttered several obscenities as he joked around with fans and photographers outside the same Hollywood comedy club where Michael Richards made his infamous rant back in November. When a particularly large, Hispanic looking fan came up to Hall looking to take a picture with him, Hall jokingly said, "I am scared of this nigga right here."

About a minute or two later, while posing for a pic with another fan, Hall says to someone off camera, "What up nigga?"

Throughout the video, Hall half-seriously told several people to "get the f**k out of here" and joked that the cameraman would sell the video to a TV show -- ha, close! During the taping, Hall also joked several times about being high.

61. I would like to think that comedians are creative people. So I think that one should be able to find other ways to get a joke then by using a incident that was very serious and making it in to a joke. There some issues that need not be taken lightly. Slavery is a serious issue, and it's not just something you get over. It seems like white people only want to use the word because black people say that they can't. I don't understand why with all the privleges and advantages, a white person has why do they want to say that word. I also do not understand why white culture is so concerned with what black people do and want to do it to. The way we dress, talk, the things we eat, and our music. He was in a public place, as a comedian you don't know a way a person is brought up, so these white comedians are going around dropping the n word like it's cute, and could potentially influence the wrong person. If a black person comes up to me and says what's up nigga I know what it means, if some random white person comes up to me and says it, how am I supposed to take that? I know I'm not going to think that they are trying to be friendly. It's just not appropiate to be used by anyone period.

62. Maybe he thinks he's famous enough to get away with trying to sound "hip" or something? Maybe he, being wasted, was just slipping back into that persona he used to do in the 80s? I mean, he's clearly just trying to be cool/funny/"one of they guys". Of course, he doesn't achieve it...but he's trying. Give the poor guy a break. It's not easy being that stupid in public every night.

63. I heard the video and I am not sure he gets a pass. Was he trying to show off that he is cool with the black people? I am not sure. It is not cool to call white people cracker and it is not cool to call black people nigger. He was saying "nigga". It is interesting watching white people or anybody for that matter trying to act out a race or thier perception of someone's race. Just be yourself and hopefully that won't offend people.

64. Why is it okay for black people to call each other N*****? If it is considered racist for a white person to say it, it should be considered racist for anyone to say it. And how can someone get offended getting called a N**** if they are using the term themselves.

65. Doesn't matter if he was joking or not. That word has not been, is not, and never will be acceptable. I've said it back when I was young and immature, but it's no longer in my vocabulary. It's possible never to use that word, people choose to use it.

66. He was just joking. It's not as offensive as the Kramer thing. Kramer was saying it out of spite. It's a completly different thing when someone says it jokingly and when someone says it out of spite.

67. PLEASE.... "white people aren't "allowed" to say it".... ARE YOU KIDDING?? That is why we all live here or choose to roll on a boat over here... FREEDOM..... Apart of that is FREE SPEECH... The "n" word is slang for a friend. As many know and use it like that. How is a person who is of color going to tell someone they CANT use a word...ANY WORD for that matter. Again...are you kidding?? Just b/c you all feel as though this is a word YOU can only use doesn't make it the law. Black comedians use the word cracker and stereotype whites all the time in jokes that seem ONLY funny to blacks. So, until we all clean up how we talk and what we think is funny, then lets complain okay people. It was actuality white people who came up with the word anyways. It really cracks me up how black people actually use it as a slang word. It's degrading to blacks no matter how you use it!

68. Im Black, and I'm not at all offended by the use of this word in this instance. Listen to how he's using it. He is obviously comfortable in his environment at the moment. Nobody around him is offended or threatened by it.
Wheather I agree withthe use of the word or not, ithink it's time we all accept that this word has evolved into a sort of term of endearment at times. Therefore when you here it before you go ballistic you should think about the intent of the person saying it. After all thats what Black people really get upset about

70. #69 You're absolutely ridiculous.
It's not the colour of your skin that decides wether or not you should use a word or not, it's what you mean by it.
If my friend jokingly tells me I'm a cracker I won't mind, if someone else says it to offend me, I will mind. The same should go for nigga.

On a side not. I find it pretty stupid that the term "niggah" is used by anyone IN GENERAL if you know the history behind it, regardless of the colour of their skin.
Claiming people can only use certain words depending on their skin, now that is racist however you twist or turn it. Racism goes both ways my friend.

71. Oh and #69 stop saying "US" like you were apart of it. Your grandparents and their forefathers were the slaves who were degraded by a large portion of white people, they were enslaved, NOT you.
I feel for these people, I honestly do, I hope nobody will ever be treated like that again.( although people still are in some countries but that's not the point now )
But snap-out-of-it. You weren't apart of it. I'm an atheïst, I come from a long line of atheïsts and back when christians reigned atheïsts were seen as heretics and they were tortured and hung. All races, religions, etc have been discriminated against. Some terrible things happened, all very regrettable, but they did not happen to US. They happened to our forefathers, not US.

72. Where does everyone get " he was just joking"??? How is this a joke? All he did was talk and greet fans. What was the joke? B/c he said the "n" word?? He was cuttin up with some fans!! That is it!!

73. Although I hate the use of the word by anyone black, white or otherwise. It's obvious AMH is just gettin' his "Hood Groove" on...it's actually pretty funny. He seems like an alright guy, actually.

74. I think EVERYONE needs to stop using this word. Joking or not, it's time to come up with a new term of endearment.

75. Shay....Clearly we all can speak our minds, our freedom of speech is that of our freedom.
Not all black people see it that way. Some black people use this word as something they've overcome.
They've turned a word that was used against them.... into a postive term for them!! I see NOTHING wrong with that.
Seems you just have a tift with both white and black people, huh? Maybe, "YOU" can't make it pretty...but the others that choose to overcome ,HAVE!! We all feel and think differenly, what's good for you aint good for the rest!!
