"The Geek" Joins the N-Bomb Club

Brat packer Anthony Michael Hall used the N-word twice while signing autographs and posing for pictures with fans last night, and it all went down outside the Laugh Factory, of all places.

Hall, the star of such 80s classics as "Sixteen Candles" and "The Breakfast Club," uttered several obscenities as he joked around with fans and photographers outside the same Hollywood comedy club where Michael Richards made his infamous rant back in November. When a particularly large, Hispanic looking fan came up to Hall looking to take a picture with him, Hall jokingly said, "I am scared of this nigga right here."

About a minute or two later, while posing for a pic with another fan, Hall says to someone off camera, "What up nigga?"

Throughout the video, Hall half-seriously told several people to "get the f**k out of here" and joked that the cameraman would sell the video to a TV show -- ha, close! During the taping, Hall also joked several times about being high.

77. This idiot comes to the VIP room of the club i used to work at a few times a week - trust me, the fact that he made this inappropriate remark on camera is the LEAST of this guy's problems. He's pretty slimy. One word : REHAB.

78. I know him. He was just being "friendly" in what he thought was the funniest or coolest way. That's his sense of humor. He likes to pretend that he's "street" or whatever - he's NOT, don't get me wrong. But he likes to imagine that he is. He didn't mean it as an insult - he meant it like, "what's up brutha" - just playing to the crowd. Is it inappropriate? Absolutely - but that means it is inappropriate for ANYONE to say it. Period. Still, taken in context of the moment and in the spirit it was intended, it's absolutely not hurtful in intent and clearly NOTHING like the racial attacks made by Michael Richards or Mel Gibson.

79. I love Anthony Michael Hall and his show The Dead Zone. I have been a big fan of his for years. As an african-american female. I didn't find him to be offensive at all. He was just haming it up for the camera. It was so obvious.

81. To all of you posters who feel that you can speak for the entire black race, please know ad understand that you can't. You may only speak from your experiences or what you have heard. Every black person will have a different reaction, to racial slurs, just as any race would. We have our own opinions and minds. Some will be offended, some will not care, and some will be ready to protest. So please stop trying to be the spokeperson/representative of the entire black race...

By the way, I was very offended. I do not use the word and I do not advocate the use of the word by anyone no matter their color.

82. I know it's off the topic a little, but isn't anyone else concerned that right after the video was shot, this idiot probably got into his mid-life-crisis-mobile (I'm thinking the ubiquitous "I am successful and can totally afford this, no matter what you have heard- porsche" or maybe the "my date was in playboy who cares if i paid her to be seen with me-ferrari") and drove around the streets and freeways of LA in this condition? I'm sorry - but racist or not, what a wank.

83. Re: Was Anthony Michael Hall just joking?

It's not a question of whether or not he was joking, it's whether or not it's *appropriate*. Which it clearly isn't.

84. WOW... VAL.... I lil full of yourself are we?? So us white people want to even EAT like you??? Is THAT the joke? What white person wants to eat like a black person?? And could you please explain what that actually means??!! FOR Real??!! WOW....And I highly doubt that just b/c I love rap music...that I'm trying to be like a black person! That's absurd!! How about I like the beat of what I'm listening to?? How about I enjoy the lyrics??

Take this.......If you were not included in something due to your skin color or was told that you couldn't say cracker (as most black comdeians due) b/c you are black.... is that going to stop you?? Hell no...you bet your gonna say something about it or have every activist, harpin about what went on and how unfair you're being treated.... but yet think it's okay to act as though you can say this is yours and that is yours and white people can not say this or that?? Are you kidding?? I think this WHOLE thing is a joke. FREEDOM OF SPEECH!
If you're not saying something in an offensive way, then how can one possible be offended?? Maybe something ELSE to complain about?!!

85. relax people. he said niggA.

Saying nigga aint sh*t.

It'd be racism, if he said niggER.

niggA is slang, not hateful.

niggER is said as a hateful meaning.

leave this cracker alone, and move on.

now michael richards is a different matter. THAT f***er is a straight racist. he said it out of hate.

86. Look, AMH was out having a good time and was just goofing around with his fans. Don't try to make it bigger than it is. Is using the word "nigga" in bad taste? Yes. But you need to take it in the context it was used before saying Mike is a racist. He's not. Stop trying to make a story out of nothing. Bad judgment, maybe. But racist? I don't think this is enough evidence to condemn someone for such a hateful characteristic. Leave him alone and focus your energies on something useful. If you really feel that strongly about racism in america, do something productive about it.
