In the wake of Beckham's record $250 million deal, a well-placed source tells TMZ that several "huge" foreign soccer players have made overtures to U.S. teams looking for the same deal. The curious soccer stars, include some of the biggest David Beckham: click to launchnames in international sport over the past decade. Their names and faces would still have cachet for Major League Soccer, even if their soccer skills are waning.

Still, they shouldn't expect $50 million a year -- or anything near it. One prominent sports marketing consultant who has worked with several MLS teams says that if the European and South American stars think they'll cash in, "they're sadly mistaken. David Beckham is an English-speaking brand that no other player can match."

Several relatively high-profile foreign stars have made the move to MLS in the past, including Lothar Matthaus, Youri Djorkaeff, and Luis Hernandez. But have you heard of any of them? Didn't think so.

31. Before you invest $250 million, I think I would make sure the investment had nothing to do ith TOM CRUISE. Beckham is not intelligent and must be easily brainwashed to be friends with Cruise. He is going to make soccer even more of a joke than it already is. Leno and Letterman are going to tear him apart.

Pay out your asses to get theese "Superstars" to join their teams....And come to find out they FORGET how to throw, kick , shoot, or catch the damn ball !!! If the owners of all of theese teams want to throw money at people, they should throw it at........CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS! Not any idiot that can lace up a pair of cleats.

35. This is a sad moment in soccer's history because no one person should be allowed with that kind of income. Beckham does not have the medals or the magic touch on the field to bring results at this time of his life. Furthermore that money can be used to feed so many starving children in society. I think they should be balance in whatever we do.
