Awards Shows
Oh No They Didn't! Globes' Most Cringe-Worthy

Sometimes awards shows make us weep a little, laugh a little, or sleep a little. And then there are moments that just make us cringe, a lot.
More on TMZ.com
Last night's Golden Globes was no exception. Long after Ryan Seacrest's thoroughly wince-inducing stand-up with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Warren Beatty made us wince with a deeply awkward (and incorrect) "Borat" impression.

Best TV Comedy Actress winner, America Ferrara, positively made us gnash our soup dumplings when she exited the stage after her touching acceptance speech and waited like a glowingly expectant puppy to be interviewed by NBC's Maria Menounos. And waited. And waited. And then had to run offstage, ignored by the blathering Ms. M. Such indignity!

Then, as Prince was a no-show to accept his award for best song, Justin Timberlake waited for his Petite Purple Majesty to come and collect his trophy, then saved the cringe-worthy moment by making himself a foot shorter and accepting on Prince's behalf.

46. I don't know why everyone is getting so worked about it. At the end of the day (Yes, I know I'm quoting a cliche) They are just people like everyone else. They do stupid things, and stuff just flies out of their mouths like any other human being in the world. ONE difference is that they have a recognizable name and whatever they do is replayed hundreds of times. We like watching this stuff for that reason ... To see what so and so says and does next so we can make fun of them and say "Thank God we didn't say that."

So ... That's the end of my rant. *Steps off Soapbox* (Yes, I'm aware of my over use of cliches. lol)

47. brad and angie looked stunning together at golden globe! such a hot couple with styles, talents, passions, kind-hearted and great parents. i love angie's dress, accessories and what a gorgeous face to blend so beautifully. as for the rumor about angie being mean to ryan seacrest, after reviewing the videos a few times, she's only stepping back so brad can shine. i applaud angie for that even if i am not angie or a brad fan. i could careless about their lives, but only speak of what i see after reviewing the video several times!!! stop and leave them alone!!! we need more stars like them......

48. I didn't catch it all, cause I was watching "24", but unfortunately I did see Warren, and they should have given him the hook sooner than later. I caught Borat and talk about bad taste. Wrong place, wrong time. Fame and money doesn't buy class. Too bad!!!

49. Let's face it, "class" left Hollywood years ago and it will probably never return, at least not in today's stars. These people are so over-paid for what they do and think that they are far superior to those of us who really work for our money. Why should they be paid more than, say, a heart or brain surgeon who save lives? Hollywood isn't fun to watch anymore. The award shows are a joke and any gathering of celebrities is sure to be an overload to the senses of botox, silicone, and tan-in-a-can. BFD.

50. NBC's Maria Menounos was a complete snotty bitch to America Ferrara. She was condescending and rude.

51. Kurtis, I couldn't have said it better. I could not believe how rude Maria Menounos was to America. Ugly Betty is one of my favorite shows. I really think she made America feel bad. Get rid of Maria! She's an idiot!

52. Maria, quit now before they fire you and go back to waitressing. That is if you can PAY ATTENTION!!!

53. i absolutley loved, loved, loved justins diss on prince!!!! prince is a shallow, egomaniacal, jerk whose days in the spotlight are numbered. yes he is a musical prodigy, but humility and grace are not a part of his life or vocabulary. he needs to check himself and put his feet back on the ground....last i checked, JESUS is the only man to ever walk on water!!!

54. Angelina Jolie should remember where she is, when she is at an awards show we get it, you do heavy duty humanitarian work, but every body needs a little levity in their lives, it makes me not want to watch her, lighten up Angelina, Ever single time you are on T.V. is not an oppurtunity for you to expound on the issues you personally care about most. Besides everyone evolves morally, & spiritually in their own time, Don't be so quick to ridicule, wasn't too long ago that you and Billy Bob Thornton were in full PDA bragging about having sex on the way to the wards show.

55. #17
I recant! Sorry to offend. I took a second look at Mr. Whitaker's acceptance speach and he seemed, from my point of view, to be too choked up to utter a word. At first I was thinking come on say something, sob, do anything. Now I understand the extreme of the emotion.
I certainly was not trying to make light of him shedding a tear. I cry as soon as I see someone else cry.
You know he will win the Oscar. He had the role of a lifetime and nailed it like no one could. He is one the deepest and thoughtful actors of our time. It is too bad he doesn't get more play. Now I will shut up.
God bless.

56. Was there a full moon last night?

I did finally figure out the Beatty/Eastwood/Nicholson love connection, though. There oughta be a law...

57. I didn't see the whole show, so I can't comment on the last half. But I did check out Sacha Baron Cohen's speech on YouTube ( that was the only part of the show I wanted to see, but fell asleep from boredom before that point). It was the most wonderful un-Holly wood acceptance speech ever! All these other self-important "stars" thanking their publicists and lawyers and agents,blah-blah-blah. Sacha thanks his rotund, hairy, frankly unattractive friend who had the balls (no pun intended) to put himself all out there for the sake of the film. Of course it was vulgar, the movie was "Borat' not "Lawrence of Arabia". Love to Sacha!!!!

58. Maria Menudos should be fired ! An entertainment reporter should be able to adapt to a perhaps unplanned stuation. She should have stopped reading the silly cue card and asked, literally the queen of the night, a half-way relavent question. Instead she made poor America look confused and made herself look like an ice, cold robot.

59. How about all the stupid questions Maria Menunos asked America Ferrara!!
Then there was the really rude one that Ms. Ferrara handled with true grace:
" Now what do you say to all those people who didn't want you to play ugly Betty?"
Ferrara with a polite smile, " I didn't know there were any."
How do people like Maria Menunos get / keep a job on NBC? Omce again she exhibited acomplete poverty ideas and thoughtfulness.
