The Remnants of a Marriage

Photogs spotted Chad Lowe on Friday, moving out of the Manhattan apartment he shared with estranged wife Hilary Swank.

The couple purchased the townhouse on Charles Street in the West Village for $3.9 million back in 2002. It had been on the market since June with an asking price of $8.25 million. The former home of Mr. and Mrs. Swank (we know who really wore the pants there) has two bedrooms, four floors, six fireplaces and two full baths. It even has its own website.

The apartment and its inhabitants were the subject of a New York Times feature back in 2005. That was in happier times.

16. Vanity Fair is cracking down on who is going on their covers after the "misquotes" that Jennifer Aniston and Lindsey Lohan people said was put in the magazines. Greydon Carter (VF editor) was getting tired of this and told celeberties that if you don't talk , you will not be on the cover. That is why Jessica Simpson's cover was cancelled because she would not talk about her devorce. She needed the press and therefore needed to talk. Still does not justify outing the dirty laundry of your husband and partner of 13 years. I was a fan but lost a little respect for her. What else is she willing to do for the sake of box office tickets.

17. To Anon: Thanks again. I ran off to Blockbuster and rented It's A Wonderful Life, which I intend to watch later this evening...

And yes, it's true, that ONE SHOULD LOVE PEOPLE AND USE THINGS and not the other way around.

I was down for quite a while, stood at the edge, and it was true friends that saved me from myself. I sometimes lose sight of what's important, but I am trying to PAY IT FORWARD, as they say.

Adieu!

18. I guess none of you know the value of Manhattan real estate. Eight million for a small townhome with a garden is not out of line with prices in the city..even the Village. If you want a piece of Manhattan expect to pay those prices...it is not Peoria or Pittsburgh! If you don't have that kind of money you can always rent...2 bedrooms now going for $5,000 per month and up depending on the neighborhood.

19. century 21 agents are the burger flippers of the real estate world, heheee.
hilary's place has about 3300 square feet of functional space, including the basement area, (which wouldn't really have a high ceiling like the rest of the floors, probably max 8 feet, closer to 7 probably down there. and it'd be sort of damp/moldy-ish, so you wouldn't want to spend too much time there). so the rest of the house has about 2700 square feet of functional space, including all those stairwells. keep in mind, it's only 15 feet wide, not even as wide as a double-wide mobile home. her back garden is 700 square feet of space, but that's been trumped up by at least 25 percent, if you compare the size of the backyard with the actual floor plan of the house (it's a lot SMALLER than the floors which are about 650 square feet each). terraces in condos can be much larger, and practical/private. she paid 3.9 million 4 years ago, so she seems to have done some 'cosmetic' decorating and now wants to get 8.3 mil. she paid more than similar sized homes in that neighbourhood back then, probably just to get it over and done with. i bet a sucker will pay her 6 million tops, and only because it's HILARY'S house!!! YAY!!!!!
fwiw, townhomes with twice the space in manhatten are asking 5 million-ish plus (of course), and they're wider, don't feel like highrise trailers like hilary's.
