Lindsay in Wonderland: The Road to Rehab

Lindsay LohanWhile Lindsay Lohan attempts to get clean and sober, TMZ has learned the details of one of her out of control drinking binges less than two weeks before checking into rehab.

As TMZ's Claude Brodesser-Akner reported yesterday, a rep from Lindsay's current film "I Know Who Killed Me" confirmed that filming would not be halted and that Lindsay's rehabilitation plans would include an outpatient program at Wonderland. However, sources inside the actual facility reveal that Lindsay's stay will be at least thirty days.

According to our source, the first seven days at Wonderland Center are dedicated to detoxification. After that, the process of determining each individual's length-of-stay is based on numerous factors, including severity of addiction, medical and psychiatric history, treatment experience and career/family obligations.

As Lindsay detoxes in Wonderland, TMZ has the inside scoop of one of her pre-rehab nights:

On January 5, just one day after having her appendix removed, Lohan was already out partying at the trendy Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. A source tells TMZ that Lindsay lined up mulitple shots in a row behind her so no one could see. Lohan would then drink the shots when no one was looking. Well, almost no one. At another point that same evening, Lindsay retreated to the ladies room and downed an entire cocktail. A few nights later, Lindsay was at it again, partying with three male friends at the new West Hollywood lounge, Winston's. Lindsay's mother, Dina, said in December that her daughter had been attending AA meetings.

At least for the next 30 days, the only lounge Lindsay will be visiting ... is the Wonderland rec room.

17. The only reason she "agreed" to go to rehab is because Britney is stealing all the press for her partying and false pregnancy. Now she is a headline again.

18. Rehab ... everyone seems to want it on their resume in LaLa land, it's just another excuse for her. She is a skank .... Hollywood trash along with Britney, Paris, and Nicole. The studios should realize that there is no hope for her and kick her to the curb. Goodbye Lindsay, good riddance you won't be missed by anyone.

19. Cut&paste - you forgot the gall bladder.

Seriously, what is wrong with this girl's parents? In her own way LL is just as trashy as Britney. She's only 20 and already an alcoholic and acts like a hooker. I know it's hard to control an older child - I raised three myself - but something went wrong in the parenting department somewhere if this girl is acting the way she is. I hope she gets the help she needs.

22. The recent barrage of headline news concerning celebrities and drug and alcohol dependency – Lindsey Lohan's rehab, Paula Abdul's slurr, Nicole Ritchie's arrest, Paris Hilton's run-in, Daniel Smith’s lethal combination of methadone, and Mel Gibson’s troubles with alcohol– should make us as a society reflect and recognize the daunting power and consequences of these drugs. Until the public becomes more educated about the serious dangers that opiates cause (including brain damage), more lives will be lost. Rather than make up excuses for their drug use, celebrities that serve as role models for today’s youth need to take responsibility for their actions and use their star power to set better examples and help educate the public.
Who doesn’t know someone in trouble with these drugs, or someone that is being prescribed prescription painkillers? And isn’t it more important for the media to make the public aware of the perils that accompany them, rather than publicize the victims? It will only hit home with the American public when actors, athletes and other high-profile newsmakers stop minimizing their own mishaps and misfortunes due to the shame involved and start taking responsibility for their actions. An admirable gesture would be to use their misfortune to help – rather than disenfranchise – the public.
When representatives for Anna Nicole Smith argued that her son Daniel didn’t use drugs but is found with the strongest narcotics available, what message does it send? Hopefully she will now embrace this opportunity to encourage others to seek help before they endure the same fate as her son. Another case in point, actor Sean Penn recently told Larry King that his brother’s suspicious death was caused by weight issues even when coroners saw high amounts of Morphine and Vicodin in his system. They called it "natural" death… The conversation might have been used to highlight the dangers of prescription drugs, letting victims of dependency know they aren’t alone and empower them to seek treatment. Perhaps, if the truth of the misfortune caused by physical drug dependency is finally accepted by its victims, maybe then the shame to look for treatment can be lifted, and more and more people will learn the dangers associated with their misuse.
In our myriad of roles as parents, teachers, coaches, doctors and professionals, each of us has a social responsibility to set a good example to those around us. As an addiction specialist and mother, I encourage the media and the subjects of the media to address drug use with the severity it deserves.

30. I think somewhere deep in this young lady is a diamond waiting to shine like it was meant to. I think that there is a good person in her that has not had the encouragement ,love and dedication to bring out her best. I wish her the best and that she will get away from the self destructive crowd that she hangs with. My prayers are with her.
