Rosie Dumps on "Idol" and Abdul

Click to return to TMZ.comRosie O'Donnell went on the offense yet again, this time the target in her "View" was only the biggest phenomenon on TV, "American Idol."

After showing a clip from last night's "Idol" in which Simon, Paula, and Randy mocked a particularly ridiculous wannabe, Ro tore into the show, calling it "so sad" and excoriating the "millionaire" judges for laughing at contestants. And, as she did yesterday, Rosie suggested that one judge (hello, Paula!) was "probably intoxicated." You could almost feel the squirm ooze out of "Idol" sweetheart Kellie Pickler, who was guest-hosting for the day.

If Rosie seems a little cranky, she's had a tough few weeks, by her own admission. As she told guest Juliette Binoche, she's been dealing with "menopause and billionaires."

92. Legally Blonde,

My point is you aked what has Rosie done for our country?? Well I gave you a clue to go google. I believed I answered your question, you additionally made remarks to her being a lesbian.. again, I dont understand what that has to do with anything. My view is to each is own, I teach my children that and hope they will do the same for future generations to help ease the racism and discrimation in this country. I also teach them root for the underdog, (as the AI contestants who are being rediculed) All are entitled to their opinion, but must first be well informed. Regardless of her harsh approach.. she has a warm heart and generous spirit.. I saved you the trouble of googling...

Personal contribution
On December 15, 2006 Elizabeth Birch, Executive Director for the Rosie's For All Kids Foundation confirmed that $50 million dollars from her five year contract with the Rosie O'Donnell Show were donated in an irrevocable trust to charity.

Rosie's For All Kids Foundation
Since 1997, Rosie's For All Kids Foundation has awarded more than $22 million in Early Childhood Care and Education program grants to over 900 nonprofit organizations that provide opportunities for thousands of America’s kids. Through the Cutie Patootie™ Center capital grants program, 27 early education centers in large cities across the United States have received nearly $8 million to expand their services. On October 30, 2006 The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children honored Rosie O’Donnell at its 2006 gala for her commitment to protecting endangered children[8]. "It's our privilege to be honoring and hosting Rosie," said NYSPCC president David Stack in a statement. "Her Rosie's for All Kids Foundation has awarded more than $22 million in grants to over 1,400 child-related organizations, and that's just one of her many impressive activities on behalf of children."

On November 1, 2006 ABC-TV Nightline aired a video report [9] about the opening of The Children's Plaza and Family Center in Renaissance Village, a FEMA trailer park in Louisiana. This was an emergency response initiative of Rosie's For All Kids Foundation with the help of many local nonprofit organizations and for-profit businesses, all efforts were to assist the families displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Rosie's Broadway Kids
In 2003 Rosie and Kelli O'Donnell collaborated with Artistic Director Lori Klinger to create this organization, dedicated to providing quality instruction in music and dance at no cost to New York City public schools or students. Eighty-five percent of students who participate in Rosie’s Broadway Kids are from low-income families. Rosie’s Broadway Kids serves more than 4,500 teachers, students, and their family members at 21 schools. Currently programs are in Harlem, Midtown West, Chelsea, Lower East Side, East Village, and Chinatown

94. I didn't care for Simon's comments on a physical appearance of someone, constructive advice to those individual who tryout could be benefical down the road.Who is Rosie to assume Paula was intoxicated, and make her snide comment? But I bet both American Idol and the View will continue to have a following. Will you be watching next time their on?

97. I'm with Rosie, although I still like the Idol.

I blame the producers (ie SIMON), they do it on purpose. Thousands and Thousands of contestants try out way before they get to the 3 Judges.

These people get picked out of thousands to go in and audition infront of the 3 judges. The producers do it on purpose, know wonder these people think they are good. They were pick out of Thousands, but not because they could sing but because they would make a good TV.

100. Its an opinion show
why are you surprised when they present opinions

Posted at 3:25PM on Jan 18th 2007 by Nina

101. cc:

It looks like one can't have an opposing opinion on this board. The only menopausal problems I see are the "women" and their comments on this board. The copy and paste lady is really talented as well. I doubt any of them work.

105. I agree that American Idol is teaching that making fun of people is ok. I was appauled at the show the last two nights, and this was the first time I have watched the beginning of any season. I agree they can have their opinion, but what does personally attacking the way someone looks have to do with their singing ability. Yes we all like to see pretty people and whatnot, but the judges didn't need to make people practically cry because of their personal comments about their appearance or physical characteristics. I also think it rude that they laugh at the contestants.
