Paris Folds in DUI Case

Paris Hilton has entered a plea in her DUI case.

Paris, originally charged with DUI, pled no contest Monday to alcohol-related reckless driving. Hilton was not present when her lawyers, Howard Weitzman and Shawn Chapman Holley, told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer that the heiress would rather fold than fight.

The judge placed Hilton on 36 months probation. She must pay a fine of $390 (with penalty assessments, Paris must pay a grand total of $1450) and attend an alcohol education program. She was also given the option of completing probation in 24 months if she completes 40 hours of community service.

Hilton was arrested September 7, 2006 in Hollywood. Her blood-alcohol level was .08, the threshold in

California for being a drunk driver.

20. Of course Harvey cannot pay Mr. Boil any money to write this threads . He does get alot' of Dough from Paris to not write anything bad about that but he is saving up the monies for " Rosies' Crotch Shot " . I know sounds strange but Harvey is strange like that . 25. This is the standard fine and sentence for what is known as a "wet reckless." She did not get any special treatment. In instances in which the BAL is low, as it was in this case, the D.A. will almost always offer a plea to a lesser offense. The D.A. could have insisted on prosecuting for the DUI and went to trial. But, in most cases in which that happens, either the prosecution loses about half the time because it is very difficult to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant was legally intoxicated or the jury opts for the lesser reckless driving offense. If you think it's not right or unfair, then change the way, but don't blame Paris Hilton for taking advantage of the same opportunity afforded every other defendent.

28. What I don't understand about rich celebrities getting DWIs is: why the heck don't they hire someone to drive them around when they are partying at night? You can always drive your sportscars during the day when you are sober. Why didn't JFK Jr. have someone fly him and his wife when he wasn't trained to fly by instrament only? Is it ego? Is it stupidity? It certainly isn't for lack of money and it would make life a whole lot easier, and maybe even longer.....

Actually, this is fairly standard for a first-time offense, especially since she did not have any enhancements...e.g. excessive speed, BAC over 0.20, accident, injury or minors under the age of 14 as passengers. The $390 fine does not count the various penalty assessments and security fees also levied. She'll end up paying approximately $1500 - $1600 to the court.
