Celebrity Justice
Paris Folds in DUI Case

Paris Hilton has entered a plea in her DUI case.

Paris, originally charged with DUI, pled no contest Monday to alcohol-related reckless driving. Hilton was not present when her lawyers, Howard Weitzman and Shawn Chapman Holley, told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer that the heiress would rather fold than fight.

The judge placed Hilton on 36 months probation. She must pay a fine of $390 (with penalty assessments, Paris must pay a grand total of $1450) and attend an alcohol education program. She was also given the option of completing probation in 24 months if she completes 40 hours of community service.

Hilton was arrested September 7, 2006 in Hollywood. Her blood-alcohol level was .08, the threshold in Paris Gallery: Click to see photosCalifornia for being a drunk driver.

46. In Florida, someone would only get 12 months probation for a 1st time DUI. She got A LOT of probation time and considering her lifestyle, she could easily violate her probation. I

47. Call me naive, but how come celebs don't have to show up in court? I would think that Mr. or Mrs. Average American would be cuffed and stuffed for the antics of people like Parisite. And another thing, if her father's reps have been quoted as saying that Paris really doesn't get much in the way of inheritance and thus has to work for a living then why isn't she listed in articles as Freeloader Paris Hilton instead of Hotel Heiress Paris Hilton

51. I thought the DUI laws had been strengthened to include
losing your license, fines, community service and probation.
Looks like, again, justice is not fair to all.

52. ppl, please remember...1. she is a media-junkie whore 2. she will be an old hag someday soon (her tits are already shriveled away) 3. she has No talent 4. her fake hair and her real hair will fall out and turn grey 4. she will no longer get "special attention".

Paris, enjoy it while it lasts...soon you will be an ex-club kid and everyone will have moved on to the next "twit of the month".

53. Paris pleaded No Contest to the lesser charge of Reckless Driving.

At 0.08 she was NOT charged with Drunk Driving.

Get a grip folks. There was absolutely nothing unfair about what happened with Paris.

Except she should not have been arrested in the first place at 0.08

54. #42 - it's not tough... the reason why she makes money.. is the other dumb people that purchase such crap. but it still doesn't make her smart regardless; she is a moron... has no ass and does not have talent - just because she gets the money doesn't make her have talent.. she has a long history of name behind her, she has been on the news from the time she was born etc. I know i've never heard a song she sings, I know i'd heard it from free news she had a reality show - I didn't watch it... and I know that if she was out (after seeing pics) and there was a hot girl with an ass that was a teacher - not a daddys get rich girl - I know i'd choose the hot one - not Paris. Plus, anyone can make a $1 million with hype - all someone would have to do is take anyone they saw on the street.. a bum let's say. They give him a shower, do his hair, give him nice cltohes, fix his teeth etc.. than the media takes shots of him, puts a fake media relations together and says it's britney spears long lost brother.............. let me guess - $2,000,000 for him to appear in a reality show, a movie offer, a story of his life offer........... that's all it would take - so to say she is smart is not true.. it's dumb people who watch

55. Oh hell Ms. OPH Fugly BWAC just let the old Judge through the back door or should I say back with a crack and paid him a little money.

56. What does OPH Fugly BWAC mean? I have heard it on Leno and seen it on several websites and even heard it on the comedy channel as Paris Hilton's new nick name.. I need someone to spell it out for me. Thanks.

57. In a way she is acting out just normal as expect from a former CEDU (Abusive facilies that where shut down after lawsuit regarding child abuse) client.

Being detained without contact for some time to the real life caused a lot of former detainees to act out. That kind behaviour is caused by a mix of PTSD and feel of betrayed towards those people - often family - which cause the lock up.

It is no excuse of commiting a crime - it is a explaination. Preventing another crime is done by heavily therapy. It will minimize the emotional consequences of being banished from family and friends, it will never remove it.

The real tragedy however is not the effects such a stay had on her. The real tragedy is that we have not learned the lessons from CEDU. New organisations sends their victims out on the street every day. Several of them have committed far worse crimes than a DUI as terrible as that crime is. In Texas a former detainee describes the death row as holliday compared to his stay in Mexico. (Closed down in 2004 on claims of child abuse.)

I hope that she graps the chance to slow down and spend some time on herself for a change. She should drop partying and take some time just relax outside US, where she is not recognised so easy. Then this terrible case would bring something positive for her too.

58. If she hadn't been a celebrity her punishment would have been a lot harsher. Enough said.

59. Why all the publicity about this girl? She is cheap looking, her nose is way too long, her left eye droops but more importantly: who in the whole world is interested in this person who adds zilch to the human race?

60. I got a DUI when I was 40. I didn't want anyone to know about it. Paris got one and the whole world knows. YUCK!
