Racial Ray?

Rachel and OprahPerky talk show host Rachael Ray made disparaging racial remarks about the woman who gave Ray her big shot at daytime TV -- none other than Oprah Winfrey, according to TMZ sources. It's a shocking account of a dinner that occurred during the period that the show was being sold.

Rewind to December 3, 2005. Ray was at the Century City Shopping Mall in Los Angeles for a book signing. Reps from King World, the production company that was syndicating the show, were shooting the event for its sales presentation.

"Why is she wearing slave drag? She obviously has problems being black."

At around 7:00 PM, Ray, along with seven others, went to Houston's Restaurant in the mall. They sat in a booth in the far right rear of the restaurant. Ray ordered fish and complained to the table it was dry. She Oprah's Portrait from was also drinking red wine and lots of it -- one source says a minimum of four big glasses.

We're told Ray became "extremely loud and aggressive," and began dissing Oprah. Sources say she told the group about a portrait of Oprah that sits in the lobby of Harpo Productions in Chicago. It's from the movie "Beloved" and shows Winfrey's back, enhanced with scars. She's also wearing a skirt from the slavery era.

Back at the table, sources say Ray launched into attack mode: "Why is she wearing slave drag? She obviously has problems being black."

But Oprah wasn't Ray's only target. Sources say she told the group how much she liked Jennifer Aniston and then called Brad Pitt a "pussy boy." But her harshest comments were reserved for Angelina Jolie, calling her "a skanky, backdoor c**t."

TMZ contacted the Director of Publicity for Rachael Ray, Charlie Dougiello, who said, "Rachael did attend the dinner referenced and enjoyed wine and good conversation with friends and colleagues. She denies making any of the comments referenced. In fact, there are several words that are attributed to Rachael that she has never uttered in her life."

Dougiello added, "Neither in public nor in private has Rachael made a disparaging or cruel remark about her friend and mentor, Oprah, nor a celebrity couple she has never even met."

Oprah Gallery: Click to launchDougiello also said, "There were several associates of Rachael's at that table who, unprompted, agreed that Rachael never made any of the comments she is being accused of making... and it seems very convenient that these accusations are being levied at a time when Rachael's success has focused the public eye on her."

31. Rachael rocks!!!!!! I wish I had some of her energy and "lust" for life!!!!!

I have to agree about everything written here about the big "O" I had my own run in with her and her staff and they "most of them" black with attitudes, suck!

This name calling in the show business world is just out of hand already, just
like most of the big time celebs, they get more stupid and pathetic each day.
But their bank accounts grow!

Enough already, I am happy for Rachael, people are so jealous.

Want to bash someone, the name Bush comes up!!!! Another story!

32. Observer said it best. She makes me nervous too. Kind of phony/freaky.
And yes, I'd like to know what she was doing overseas where
she says all she had to eat all day was a huge salad.
Please RR, enlighten us.

33. I can easily believe Rachael became "extremely loud and aggressive" since her normal conversational level is equal to most people's big outdoor voice, and she never seems to shut up. (Which also makes it difficult for me to understand the word "perky" used as a description for her.)

And while making a comment that Oprah has problems being black seems to be dissing the hand you're hoping will feed you, how does that make Rachael guilty of a racial slur? Oprah DOES seem to have a problem being black; of course she seems to have a problem believing she's anything less than all things to all people.

Doesn't anyone else get tired of know-it-alls, loud mouths, and just generally obnoxious people? I continue to be stunned by the people we allow to be elevated to celebrity status.

34. Ha ha! This is the most pathetic crap I have ever heard. Oprah DOES wish she was white. And Rachel Ray is Hitler. Honestly, red wine with fish? Clearly a Nazi.

35. Until I see the video, I won't believe it. It's funny how Rachael has been on the air for years, but these accusations from "sources" just NOW come out after her tv show becomes popular and she becomes more of a celebrity. Rachael has been known to take to alcohol pretty well, but I refuse to believe anything "sources tell us." Like I said, until I see the video proof, I won't believe a word of it.

37. hmmm..."became extremely loud?" I wasn't aware that she had different volume levels; therefore my opinion is that the entire article is full of lies. Besides, red wine with fish??? I agree with Barbara.

38. I love rr, she is right that picture is weird.

39. @29 - Jim - let me remind you of a few high profile cases.

1)Susan Smith ring a bell. The white woman in North Carolina who accused a black man for killing her two little boys. Do you remember her tearful pleas to the media to bring her little boys home. But in reality she drowned those kids.

2) Central Park Jogger - Those black kids did 15 years for a rape they didn't commit. They checked the DNA on those black boys (back then) and it didn't match but they STILL went to jail. The 'real' rapist a white man confessed to the rape, a year ago. They checked his DNA and it matched!

3) Jennifer Wilbanks - "Runaway Bride" She said a hispanic man kidnapped her. Of course, we all found out that she was lying! Besides nobody would abduct someone soooo ugly. She finally confessed she got cold feet and didn't want to get married. Much money, media coverage, and time spent searching for this idiot. She gets not jail time! And then turns around and sells her story for $500K.

4) Natalie Holloway - they actually had the original killer/s in custody. But the white guys said the black security guard did it. The believed this guy knowing full well he was the last person seen with Natalie. Didn't matter, they didn't question they black guy - the arrested him and tried to charge him with murder. This black guy's image went around the world as the killer of Natalie. He lost his job and was recieving death threats. Of course they later found out that this guy had nothing to do with her dissapearance.

In trouble - blame a black man. That doesn't work, blame an hispanic.

40. Caroline is obviously a racist BITCH like this Ray piece of sh*t. I will never give up the fight against racism and I'll continue to expose the closet racists in our midst. I want to thank all my brothers and sisters for there support. No justice, no peace!!!

41. I used to waiter at the Union Square Cafe in New York City - a classic expensive restaurant Rachel Ray frequented.

This posts sound entirely accurate.

She drinks a lot and curses like a sailor, which is fine by me because I tend to also. She would frequently cross the line though with the comments she would make (and their volume level).

I think she never realized how famous she was becoming and that she needed to watch her tongue.

43. LOL. The Oprah comment is uncalled for. But the Angelina comment is hillarious.

44. I like Rachel Ray but she probably did say this. How else would they know about the picture of Oprah in the lobby in her Beloved outfit. That was a pretty detailed description for it to be made up.
