Racial Ray?

Rachel and OprahPerky talk show host Rachael Ray made disparaging racial remarks about the woman who gave Ray her big shot at daytime TV -- none other than Oprah Winfrey, according to TMZ sources. It's a shocking account of a dinner that occurred during the period that the show was being sold.

Rewind to December 3, 2005. Ray was at the Century City Shopping Mall in Los Angeles for a book signing. Reps from King World, the production company that was syndicating the show, were shooting the event for its sales presentation.

"Why is she wearing slave drag? She obviously has problems being black."

At around 7:00 PM, Ray, along with seven others, went to Houston's Restaurant in the mall. They sat in a booth in the far right rear of the restaurant. Ray ordered fish and complained to the table it was dry. She Oprah's Portrait from was also drinking red wine and lots of it -- one source says a minimum of four big glasses.

We're told Ray became "extremely loud and aggressive," and began dissing Oprah. Sources say she told the group about a portrait of Oprah that sits in the lobby of Harpo Productions in Chicago. It's from the movie "Beloved" and shows Winfrey's back, enhanced with scars. She's also wearing a skirt from the slavery era.

Back at the table, sources say Ray launched into attack mode: "Why is she wearing slave drag? She obviously has problems being black."

But Oprah wasn't Ray's only target. Sources say she told the group how much she liked Jennifer Aniston and then called Brad Pitt a "pussy boy." But her harshest comments were reserved for Angelina Jolie, calling her "a skanky, backdoor c**t."

TMZ contacted the Director of Publicity for Rachael Ray, Charlie Dougiello, who said, "Rachael did attend the dinner referenced and enjoyed wine and good conversation with friends and colleagues. She denies making any of the comments referenced. In fact, there are several words that are attributed to Rachael that she has never uttered in her life."

Dougiello added, "Neither in public nor in private has Rachael made a disparaging or cruel remark about her friend and mentor, Oprah, nor a celebrity couple she has never even met."

Oprah Gallery: Click to launchDougiello also said, "There were several associates of Rachael's at that table who, unprompted, agreed that Rachael never made any of the comments she is being accused of making... and it seems very convenient that these accusations are being levied at a time when Rachael's success has focused the public eye on her."

61. I dont think for one second that rachael ray said those things, why now, at the height of her popularity are these damaging racist comments coming out, if this happened in 2005, why has this taken so long to be made public, I think these "sources" are just trying to create controversy, doesnt that just make there lives seem so pathetic. HMMM> ponder that

62. all these comments, such hatred in them, how can you automatically judge her for something, you have never heard, until there is proof, everyone, should stop attacking her, anyone who is calling her, "cracker" "honky" and other names, are just hypocritical ( for all you out there who never acheived more than a 1st grade education, that means, you are chastising( i know another big word, means critisizing...) her for the exact same thing you are doing to her. Finally, isnt the rule of thumb here, inocent until proven guilty......

66. Rachel Ray was in Portland, OR to film a segment on restaurants here for one of her shows. Someone I know was at one of the dinners being filmed. He said that at first she seemed very cold and brash and no one was allowed to address her. But after drinking glas after glass of Red wine and smoking several cigarettes, she then lightened up. But after hearing his account of her and then reading this story, it is in keeping with what my acquaintences' personal account of her was. Otherwise, I probably wouldnt' have believed it.

67. I agree with a lot of the people on the post that Ray Ray’s comment wasn’t really racist, but just ignorant. If she even knew anything at all about her mentor and boss, she would’ve know that Beloved was a project Oprah put alot of energy into and worked on getting made for a long time. If she had ever heard of the book, she’d realize that it explains why slavery is so haunting to blacks and that she’s just a dumb bitch.

72. 2005? what the hell took so long for this to get out? I'm not sure if it's true, but hell you never know.As far Oprah, she does more for the people of this world than most of us combined, and she does'nt have a problem being black. This story won't change my opinion of Ray cuz i've never been a fan of hers.Paula Deen rules!!

73. it's sad but true, when you become famous people want to repeat, invent, or both, when they are trying to get someone, anyone to lisen to them, like i said..it's sad...people trying to get attention from something you said or didn't say...one thing is for sure..she was there.....and most likely talking...

74. Firstly, none of us trusts these "sources" that are always quoted. Secondly, some have serious issues with Oprah that they need to sort out. Methinks jealousy plays a large part. It's amazing that people who are just taking up space (Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and co) don't get such venom, but people who are actually trying to do something and make a change in the world (Angelina, Oprah) get nothing but grief. As an African, I completely agree with Oprah's words - African-Americans don't know how good they have it here. If some want Nikes while others want school uniforms, hell, I'd build a school in South Africa too! As for Rachel Ray, who cares?
